In my own purely facile way, I keep rooting for Dex and Zobrist to keep their OPS above .800 by the end of the season for my own personal benchmark - I hope they can keep it that way

As frustratin as base running mistakes are, everyone has to understand the Cubs make fewer than most teams, are exceptionally smart on the bases and Maddon almost never calls for a bunt. Heck, part of him calling for a bunt in what amounts to garbage time is merely seeing what he's got available to him for the playoffs (in that way, it failing disastrously bodes well for the playoffs) Watch a White Sox game sometime, friends. They make more egregious mental errors in a game than we do in a week. We're fine.

Jose Macias was like off-brand Neifi. funny thing is neifi was a worse hitter by a decent margin. which isn't surprising, i guess, because isn't neifi basically the worst hitter ever? If you can't OPS more than .800 just once in 5 years at Coors in the early 2000s, then, man....you're terrible

I don't know if there's a single game that Baez hasnt made some insanely athletic beautiful play somewhere on the baseball diamond
