  1. Looks like Manfred is now acknowledging that the ball is juiced [tweet] [/tweet]
  2. I’m pro moving them to Montreal and changing their name to the Expos, I’m anti whatever this is
  3. Not that anyone could predict his year, and not that he would get starter at bats and etc etc but if we swap La Stella for Descalso we’d be 2.5 games better than we are right now
  4. Agreed, the offensive numbers would be fine if we were getting Jason Heyward, shut down outfielder. But his FG defensive metrics have taken a nose dive pretty much since he signed with us. 11.3 in his last year with the Cardinals, then 9.6, 2.8, 0.7, and this year at a -3.3. For comparison, Franmil Reyes, who looks to be about 275 pounds, is at a -2.8 playing full time in right field this year. I’ve had concerns about Heyward as a regular CF, I hope he hasn’t lost his corner outfield play too. According to Fangraphs UZR, he’s a -20 run Center Fielder if you extrapolate his season there to 150 games, while still a plus 5 run corner outfielder
  5. It’s weird, Heyward is having a relatively Ho-hum season, but adding another 20-30 points to his OPS like he’s done every successive year as a Cub. He’ll run into a home run every week or so. By the end of the contract, who knows, he may break an .800 OPS
  6. When was the last time Descalso had a hit? April?
  7. Cubs offense has transformed once again into late era 2018 Cubs offense. Unacceptable. Sacrifices for the Red God, at once
  8. Hmmmmmmm all in the course of a day and I’m starting to hate the Cubs good job idiots
  9. Bad news for you that the Cubs will almost certainly make the playoffs then, I guess Mediocrity for this team is more likely to be repeated playoff heartbreak, and not playing ~slightly above .500~ ball that the Pirates have perfected. Which, hilariously, is no different than winning 100 games every year for 10 years. This is such a weird gotcha (and like from Cubswin11). It’s the only gotcha that exists. You can not deny the numbers. You can not deny your destiny.
  10. Why would anyone want that? Because, as I explained before, I have issues with the Cubs and the people who own them and run them and the people they choose to employ. Bad news for you that the Cubs will almost certainly make the playoffs then, I guess Mediocrity for this team is more likely to be repeated playoff heartbreak, and not playing ~slightly above .500~ ball that the Pirates have perfected. 11. Cool road trip where the Cubs hold a lead in 6 out of the 7 games and go 2-5. Lots of poor luck, lots of annoying things. Still, this season is not 1/10th as infuriating as last years was down the stretch, so I have my serenity.
  12. Well the Cubs definitely deserve SOMETHING after getting 4-0, 3-0 and 2-0 leads and losing all of them
  13. I don’t understand why the Cubs even bother to take early inning leads
  14. I hate that the Cubs just are not allowed to win on the road
  15. I feel like the Cubs are just gonna exchange dongs with the Dodgers all series and come up short each time
  16. Working two walks out of Kershaw is an achievement all it’s own. Would be cool to make this uglier though, of course
  17. I keep checking his numbers and I’m like, nice, and then I see he still has like 50 ABs and I get bummed
