    He’s really been unbelievable as a Cub. Wasn’t he in the straight up 5+ ERA territory as a Ranger (though to be fair that park isn’t great for any pitcher)

He refuses to take a walk, and it’s the spot where pitchers are the most likely to pitch around to, thus allowing the most amount of walks as they try to get to the pitcher Now in old school Bad Common Sense Baseball maybe that would appeal to a manager because that player would Get That Run In but well, it’s bad

    To add to your dislike, a gentle reminder that Russell is playing at a ~4 fWAR pace extrapolated to 500 PAs. Descalso will be lucky to get to above replacement level. oh my god my stupid eyes saw the squiggly and thought it was a negative sign, nevermind I will say Fangraphs projects out to a ~2 fWAR for Russell with some regression. We shall see, but regardless, on purely baseball moves, he should be out there over Descalso's corpse

    As a person who routinely doesn’t pay enough attention to what’s going on, I thought Kimbrel was coming off an injury and that’s why he hadn’t signed a deal until now. It never ever occurred to me that he could be fully healthy and not find a deal with anyone more than two months into the season. It doesn’t speak highly of the labor compact in MLB if a top of the line player at his position can’t get a deal made until June because of the teams stonewalling him and the whole draft pick thing.
