  1. Derosa is easily the biggest mistake of the offseason. I wouldn't have thought the impact would be this large, and with a healthy team, it still probably wouldn't be this apparent. But with all of our injuries (other than catcher) being in positions that Derosa could play, and had played for the Cubs, it really shines a spotlight on what a bad move that was.
  2. roar some wanted this guy too http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=3504 Gotta be honest...I wasn't one of em. Oops.
  3. You decided to make the hockey/basketball comparison. The implication was that because hockey thinks it's ok to govern the end of it's games this way, that basketball should too. That was the way I took it. My point was that I don't think that hockey is flawless, and the fist fighting was merely the most egregious example of that. In any case, even ignoring the fighting, I don't think that because hockey does it, is any justification for the NBA doing it.
  4. So the NBA should follow the example set by a sport that has it's players fist fighting in most games? Yes, because fist fighting is exactly what we're talking about here. Come on. No...I'm saying that NHL is a poor example to use on how to govern a sport. A sport that doesn't govern that fist fighting is something that shouldn't be permitted on the area of play is not a sport I want to use an example of how to govern others.
  5. Geo may not be hitting the ball, but he's still taking the walks.
  6. 1) It's Maddux, not Maddox. 2) You got the quote wrong.
  7. Dempster's thrown more pitches than Davis.
  8. So the NBA should follow the example set by a sport that has it's players fist fighting in most games?
  9. I'm pretty sure I was glad at the time. There were those that wanted him though.
  10. I don't know why I just thought this, but I'm glad the Bears didn't end up getting Favre last offseason. Somehow I doubt this whole Cutler thing would've happened in that case.
  11. Miller needs to dunk that.
  12. Not sure if anybody puts stock in what Larry Mayer says on the team's website, but I would tend to believe this story. I don't think the Bears were going to take that guy in the 2nd, despite what Mitchell told the Oakland media. Yeah, I was never fully buying that story.
  13. Except Maddux was a lot better at it then lilly. Maddux was a lot better at everything than most pitchers. Except holding runners.
  14. Yeah, I think Lou knows that he needs Soto. And Soto's not been a bad defender.

  16. How does the NFL stay in business if no players will ever actually be successful?
  17. The Bears "took a bunch of guys". Thanks for the report Peter! While another report said the Bears had the best offer out there. If I am reading his last two sentences right, I agree with him. Cutler defines this draft class. It wasn't really that part that I was bickering about. But if you're going to bother to write up an article profiling the draft from each team's point of view, shouldn't the name of someone that you drafted come up? Even if he said "They made some nice picks with Gilbert and Iglesias, but Cutler will define this draft"....well then ok! That makes sense. It's the "bunch of guys" comment that I had an issue with.
  18. They did. So Jordan could win it on Father's Day at home. Duh. Yep. Never doubt that one. ;)
  19. I think the 90s Bulls would have swept these Celtics, even with Garnett. With Garnett? I think that's pretty optimistic. They would've won, but not swept. Do you remember how teams like the Knicks and Pacers (and Jazz) gave us a hell of a time in the playoffs? The Celtics of last year > those Jazz teams, IMO. The Celtics of this year with KG are a better team than last year too. A year of development from Perkins, Davis, and Rondo is a big deal. I think this year's team is better than all the Bulls losers except for maybe Phoenix. I was young when the Bulls beat the Lakers but I seem to remember it being a case of a pretty old team by that point right? And some injuries to that Laker team. But once Pippen started guarding Magic, I don't think it really mattered. I actually think the Seattle team in 1996 was really good, arguably the best team the Bulls beat. Man, Gary Payton was so good back then.
  20. Hell, I'd have been happy if he could actually name a single player drafted by the Bears.
  21. I dropped him a note:
  22. Peter King with even MORE in depth SI analysis: The Bears "took a bunch of guys". Thanks for the report Peter!
  23. This was the first year I've had the NFL network for the draft coverage, and I really did enjoy that much more than Kiper and the gang... Gruden was excellent I thought, and Rich Eisen beats Chris Berman any day of the week.
  24. Ben Gordon is getting an MRI on his hamstring.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/news/story?id=4104307
