  1. Could've gone to pretty much any RH hitter and left Griffey in the OF next inning. We've gotta realize that this isn't a must win for the Reds where all the stops are gonna be pulled out. I was personally kinda surprised they hit Valentin for Jorgensen even. the reds(edit) haven't had a "must win" in years. they are still obligated to make the moves necessary to try to win everyday. i suppose they thought their best option was hamilton and i disagreed.
  2. Could've gone to pretty much any RH hitter and left Griffey in the OF next inning. good point, definitely should have been lifted right there the day after he K's with the bases loaded to the same pitcher.
  3. wasn't there somebody available to PH for Hamilton? It seems pretty apparent the LOOGY could mow down the lefties.
  4. yowzers. if the cubs were in the AL, i'd thow 18 mil per year at him. as is, i'd like to see them offer a 4-60 deal his way.
  5. how do you join and how much?
  6. nice backtrack. nobody poses that type of question if there isn't some sort of belief on their part. if you didn't believe any of it then that would be the same thing as me asking, are people trashing jones in the first half because he is black? it is painstakingly obvious the fact that he wasn't performing was the cause for the bashing, but under your criteria it's a valid question. people that bash michael vick are racist too. ](*,)
  7. let's try to hit singles and THEN homeruns cubs. it's time to move kendall up in the lineup, his .402 OBP isn't helping much in the 8 hole.
  8. yeah, i don't second guess lou very much, why would ward bat fifth in this game?? the 6,7 hitters make much more since right there.
  9. oh well, rather K pitch like crap and get blown out, then watch him throw a gem and lose 1-0. i can't stomach this any longer, later.
  10. he'll probably have one next year, with a NY on it.
  11. Looks like a cardinal fan again tonight :| hopefully we can remain at 1.5 back tomorrow.
  12. I really don't enjoy watching the cubs lately. Don't see cubs scoring 2 on harang.
  13. too bad we didn't hang on to hamilton, he would have looked nice in CF this year.
  14. any chance he threw his back out after one inning again?
  15. Hey cubs, use these: http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/42/77/55/0004427755918_215X215.jpg -weis
  16. Hey cubs, use these once again: http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/42/77/55/0004427755918_215X215.jpg win while your at it. -Weis
  17. I've posted several times that Marquis is not a bad 5th stater. Sure he sucks a lot of times he pitches, however he is also VERY good on several occasions. He has few starts that fall in the middle, but most of the time it's either one or the other. I understand why it is frustrating, but for a FIFTH, i repeat, FIFTH, starter he is not bad. His contract is quite risky, but not as bad as most people on here make it out to be. It's a double edge sword, but Marquis IMO has been a solid 5th stater.
  18. I can only hope that once again the BBTN guy are misinformed. They said that Marshall was traded for Kendall for almost an hour, so they aren't trustworthy to say the least. If there is any truth to these rumors i could only hope that lou would play who should be playing and that the cubs give up little to get him. If he takes Pagan's role on this team then OK, but anything other that a 4th or 5th OF for this team is despicable. That said, just don't trade for Pods, he brings very little to the table.
  19. yep, i'd much rather have barrett's average(at very best) arm over what Kendall is putting up number's wise at the plate. Give me a freaking break! Barrett had a few good years batting and he has better power than Kendall, OK we can all agree witht that. But look at his numbers THIS YEAR. Don't try to tell me that because barrett could throw out an occasional runner that this team would be better with him behind the plate. His 41 OPS+(since traded) begs to differ.
  20. speed never slumps dude.
  21. Hey cubs, use these: http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/42/77/55/0004427755918_215X215.jpg Put Pie in center again, too much ground for jacque to cover. Leave floyd on the bench while your at it. -Weis
  22. so naive. Sadly I think you are right. In a perfect world he would be a great backup and mentor to Soto. Worst case scenario is that Soto falls on his face and Kendall takes over. But I think we all know that if he is to be re-signed then Soto would get no real shot.
  23. I remember the transaction thread when people were acting like the sky was falling when hendry traded for him. Another example of people's overreactions on this board. I was one of the very few advocating that we needed to just let the trade play itself out. He is definitely past his prime but he can still get on base (.400 OBP in the second half of last year). Now he may still fall on his face, but I think he'll be reliable and solid for the rest of this year at least. His OPS+ since joining the cubs is 102 while Barretts is 41 since joining the padres.
  24. Hey cubs, http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/42/77/55/0004427755918_215X215.jpg they call it a "bat". other mlb teams are currently using them. give it a try. -weis
