  1. After feeling terrible about this game for most of the day, I am beginning to get a good feeling. I think Monroe and Soto both contribute with a couple of doubles. Murton homers again and although cedeno will go hitless, he'll have a web gem. cubs win 7-4.
  2. *tries thinking optimistically when visiting this board* [/cannont compute]
  3. Bob announces this is a great "team" win. Not sure what exactly that is, but it makes me smile.
  4. D LEE IS MY HERO! Don't lie, you thought that the LF was going to catch it at the wall.
  5. kendall has a below average arm, but cubs pitchers have been pretty terrible at holding on runners this year. there is plenty of blame to go around.
  6. we dodged a bullet right there, that ball was hit on the screws. marmol in.
  7. I'm not completely sold on Soto, since the only year he's done anything special at the plate was this year. That said, I'd like to see what he could do but have a good back up plan. A multi-year deal for Kendall would be really stupid though.
  8. I used to take a power nap anytime a speedy guy reached first. The man holds the runners tight though.
  9. maybe people are forgetting this is only his second year playing OF? Sure Murton and Floyd has looked clueless in RF at times this year, but they have many more years of OF experience. I'm not saying Soriano would or would not suceed in RF, but it's reasonable to think he would be just as bad or worse in RF this year. I'd like to see him work on playing RF this offseason and in ST next year and then go from there.
  10. In my opinion, Zambrano pitches with more "momentum" then any other pitcher I've seen. He seems to go through slumps much like a batter that is playing everyday. It could be his demeanor where when he's good he thinks he is unhittable and when he's bad he is really hard on himself. I'm hoping its just mechanics, maybe his arm slot, and that he will get confidence and pitching well shortly. He's desperately needed if we make it to the playoffs.
  11. Every time I see your sig I think it looks like it says "Pablo Rivera" Haha, yeah that's what I thought it said as well. I was concerned about that, because I could understand it but I know who it is in the first place. I had another cool one, I'll try that one out for a while.
  12. the girl in the picture is an old photo of kelly pickler (the country singer) someone posted on game threads the night she sang "take me out to the ball game" at wrigley. The cubs made a comeback after they posted a few pictures because people didn't know who she was. Somebody called it the "rally pickler"
  13. what was the deal with take me out to the ballgame last night?
  14. plus the fact that an extra run probably would have scored if theriot would have bunted them over early in the game. the score could very easily be 3-2 cubs right now. this teams fundamentals have been terrible lately.
  15. we don't have a backup SS unfortunately. DeRosa isn't awful out there. I wouldn't think so because he has played every other position pretty well, but I have no idea. Lou has only played him there, what, one half game?
  16. we don't have a backup SS unfortunately.
  17. just think about how much we could be leading this division if our players played intelligently and with good fundamentals. Theriot's had a terrible night.
  18. Jayson stark said this morning that the cubs were the more talented of the two (stated the absurd run differential between the two), however he ended the segment with, "but you have to remember one important thing.....THEY ARE THE CUBS..." and chuckled to himself. I myself rolled around on the floor laughing so hard I vomited.
  19. at least he's leaning over the plate to get a REAL good look at it....I don't understand. There's a 99% chance lee gets a fastball on the outside corner if it goes to two strikes. Why hasn't he learned that yet?
