  1. it kind of sums up the day well I appreciated the metaphor.
  2. What's the over/under on the page count before the first pitch? I'll say 27
  3. the Cowboys are still tops in that division for sure Sweet. I love beating teams in their own house and getting no respect. The redskins by no means played their best football, but won anyway. That goes unnoticed though I guess. This isn't baseball where it's more or less a coin flip most of the time. I know that Tony Romo has a dreamy smile, but honestly they haven't won a playoff game in 13 years. Are they good? Sure. Could it be possible that they are overrated? Probably. I'm not trying to talk any junk, I just find the whole "America's Team" thing obnoxious. It wears on my nerves and is unwarranted.
  4. He was the only black dude on the basketball team? Not being racist at all, just looks odd... what year was that photo taken? Assuming he didn't skip any grades, he graduated in 79. So I'd guess that pic was between 76-79. Judging by the hair styles and jersey choices, that sounds about right.
  5. swung on and belted?
  6. I'll be in class from 6-9 Wednesday night...thank God for DVR. I've never been so anxious to watch a Chicago Cubs team play baseball. Let's do the damn thing.
  7. A draw. Not sure how it happens, but Bud pisses his pants on live TV trying to decide what to do next.
  8. Not to beat a horse that has been dead quite some time, but why the hell did they choose to DFA Eyre instead of Howry? Eyre is only sporting a 221 ERA+ since his arrival in Philly. I swear to God, if Eyre ends up screwing us sometime this playoffs...
  9. I propose a new law that minors, due to their predicted long life span, should be the only ones allowed to adopt.
  10. who's overreacting other than, maybe, rotoworld? edit: post #1908 :) At least the "Curse of the poster Electron Blue" has been broken. Next up: "There's no such thing as curses" curse
  11. Am I missing something here? When did adopting a baby, in any fashion, become a bad thing? Ernie and his wife are well aware of their age. I'm sure arrangements are already in place should something happen to their health. Who knows, maybe they'll live to be 100 and it won't matter anyway.
  12. Top stories of week 4: Skins top Dallas in a stunner. Romo fumbles 3 times and gets verbally assaulted by TO on the sidelines. Media circus ensues. Philip Rivers continues his MVP quest by throwing for 3 TDs and 320 yards. Teammates carry him off the field on their shoulders. ESPN spins game highlights into a negative piece about how immature Rivers is for interacting with fans. Analysts agree wholeheartedly. Trent Green suffers concussion. Vows comeback for 2009.
  13. a solid outing by dempster will solidify his no. 1 starter position in my mind don't let me down ryan
  14. Zambrano's line is pretty decieiving. He really didn't look that bad. Velocity was good, movement was good, and the location actually wasn't terrible. He was just barely missing and was not getting help from an atrocious umpire. He could very easily have only given up 1 or no runs. Thanks. Anyone have any idea about DeRo? Not too serious? Or are we concerned?
  15. Skimming through the pages, it looks like we're not too worried about Z? How long does a calf strain keep someone out? Derosa will be fine if he gets a week off right?
  16. You, my friend, are a saint. (And I mean that in the non-losing to the Washington Redskins way) :-))
  17. i agree with you 100%, but on the other hand, me and my girlfriend probably reference your "ATTA BOY JIMMAY, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" call at least 5 times a week. i know you were honoring brickhouse, but that call is probably my favorite call in cubs history. Couldn't agree more. I know that that call could probably not be replicated, but it gives me goosebumps nonetheless. When I was like 10, some schmuck from my hometown's local newspaper wrote an article about why Harry Carrey should be "put out to pasture". I wrote a response arguing it's absurdity and it got published a few days later. While there's only one Harry, Len and Bob are just about as much as I could ever ask for. As an mlb.tv customer, I've come to appreciate them even more over the majority of non-professional hacks that seem voice the other 29 teams. I know this sounds like a "suck-up" post, but honestly, you guys are the best in the business as far as I'm concerned.
  18. I wish it was big enough to burn. Who the hell designs these things? It looks like a cheap flea market american eagle rip off.
  19. That's BS. Yeah, he blew that call terribly. But is it his fault that the NFL that incomplete passes aren't reviewable? He's one of the better refs in the league. He got one wrong. It happens. And I think I'm the last remaining Rams fan. I guess I know how the Lorax felt... (Good God, the Rams are terrible.) I don't think it's too much BS. He made a mistake in a pretty critical situation and probably cost the Chargers the game. With that in mind, I don't have a problem with him getting graded down. Now, he should still be in line for the playoffs and Super Bowl barring more mistakes. He is still one of the best out there. You can review incomplete passes. You can't review a play once the ref blows the whistle. The problem was he screwed up by blowing the whistle too soon. It's not the NFL's fault. Exactly, it's his fault. Had he not blown the whistle that quickly the play would have continued and the Chargers likely win the game. I think Hochuli's a great ref, but he made a mistake and deserved to get graded down for it. I'm still trying to figure to figure out why he blew the whistle. It looked like a fumble right away (i.e. Cutler's arm not going forward) but even if his arm was going forward, the ball looked like it went backwards which would mean it was a lateral and a fumble anyway. That is what puzzles me. As far as I can tell that is the "unofficial" cardinal rule for fumbles/incomplete passes. ALWAYS rule a fumble as it can be overturned later after review. He messed up, that's apparent, but as far as I'm concerned his ego played a role in him ruling that an incomplete pass. He saw the arm move forward automatically figured it was a pass. Unless he was just blanking out (which is unacceptable, especially give the situation), I see no other explanation. Disclaimer: I'm a chargers fan and extremely bias.
  20. Yeah, I can definitely see your logic behind that. After seeing VT and WVU in the games following their beatings by ECU, I was less than impressed by both teams. Don't get me wrong, both were nice wins, but 15 was a bit high. I think they should hover around the 25 mark right now, especially after losing their best defensive player. I was raised an NC state fan so I had a few mixed feelings today. I think NC state is better than they have showed earlier this season. Despite being ravaged by injuries they have a pretty good team, especially if they can get some production by in the QB slot. ECU still has no reason not to dominate C-USA. Them remaining undefeated would only cause unwarranted attention to the fact that they aren't a top 15 team in the nation.
  21. whew, dodged a big bullet there by Aaron "I hit balls country" Miles there... /chris berman
  22. Thanks for the info. Hopefully this is just Z's "hangover" start and he'll be nice a pissed from here on out.
  23. What seems to be the problem with Z today? Velocity? Location? Just overall poor performance?
