  1. I see they went ahead and knocked out Todd Zeile's page before the masses bombarded their email accounts with demands. Heady move.
  2. I'd say Philly. I'd go with Philly as well. With the exception of last week when he looked just average (vs. the Bengals), Campbell has been downright bad since October ended. I'm afraid Philly may have a field day with him.
  3. As I mentioned earlier, I'm playing Schaub over Eli. I think he's gonna go off, and the way Andre Johnson is playing, both could have a huge game. Yeah, plus I have Andre Johnson playing in my semifinal game, so that could be the difference. I think I'm just going to bench McNabb, that way I won't have that weird feeling of having to somewhat pull against my Redskins.
  4. Wayne came up huge for both my championship game and semi game. Now the gutsy part...I benched Addai (thankfully) before I went to work bc I'm banking on Gore being ready come Sunday. If not I'm thinking about Benson vs. Cleveland rather than LT vs. Tampa. Am I crazy? Also, I'm contemplating Schaub over McNabb in my semi-final game. Oakland doesn't have a lot to play for and Houston is really starting to hit their groove. Anybody else with me or am I out on my own limb for that one as well?
  5. Wait, so he's overrated because he's performing as should be expected?
  6. Listening to MLB Homeplate this AM and Buck Martinez just loves this move for the O's. Great "baseball guy" and brings "stability to their infield". Oh yeah, he was campaigning for Eckstein and couldn't believe he hadn't signed yet. I think if Buck Martinez were a GM he would field a winless team.
  7. Some program on XM's MLB Home Plate interviewed Marquis today (proof that it must be really hard to find enough programming in the offseason): Marquis said that he wanted to remain a Cub, but he knows it's a business. Rockies and Mets were talked about primarily as possible teams he could be dealt to, and he wouldn't mind the Mets being from NY himself, etc. Wants to stay in the NL because he like's the "style of the game" and hitting. He reiterated once again that he just "wanted the ball every fifth day" regardless of where he plays next year. It didn't sound like he'd be open to pitching in the pen if the Cubs add another starter, but that's just me speculating. In my opinion, he sounded like he was waiting on a phone call any minute to tell him he's been traded. Hopefully if he is traded, someone is desperate enough to pick up most of the money he's due next season.
  8. It really is. IIRC, Dunn has a pretty strong arm to make up for no range and Pat the bat has absolutely nothing going for him out there. There is a reason they call him Pat the bat and it's not because he drives in runs with his glove Burrell has one of the best OF arms in the game. But, he still has terrible range and defense and would probably be horrible in RF.
  9. Why? Because they're both black? You're not aware that Jones had to endure racial slurs from some of the idiots at Wrigley on a daily basis for most of his stay with the Cubs? It's a terrible thing that Jones had to endure racial slurs. But the sad truth is there are going to be racist idiot fans in every city. My point is that it was (as far as I know) an isolated incident with one player. I've never heard Lee say anything about having to deal with bigot fans on a daily basis.
  10. I wrote heavier because when I went to type "sweaty" I just assumed I heard it wrong because I couldn't imagine why in the world one would describe baseball trade talks as "sweaty"
  11. because the Marlins' asking price is higher than that Their initial asking price was two good pitching prospects. The DRays disengaged after balking at the initial offer, and no one has jumped in with an appropriate offer. I think they'll lower their demands, but only a little bit, and they'll end up keeping him. Florida is one of those teams that overvalues its players. Remember how they held the line on what they wanted for Pierre? They got three good pitching prospects for him. Maybe Rich Hill and Mark Pawalek are considered good pitching prospects  I miss the days Rich Hill wasn't the punchline of jokes, but rather a productive ML pitcher. Current SportsCenter (radio) update: Talks getting "heavier", supposedly 3 teams and 7 players total...
  12. We dont need a short stop, but if Hanley Ramiez were to fall into our lap, would Lou say no? Im just saying, when you have a shot at one of the top 5 starters in the game, you can make an exception. I know that his top priority is a LH bat, but theres really none out there that anyones absoltely in love with. That was my whole point, ESPN reported the cubs would no longer pursue Peavy because Lou said "We're set at SP. We don't need any more". Well, of course they don't need anymore, but it sure would be nice to have Peavy. I didn't read anything into Lou's comments because I think he was just saying what he was supposed to say: we're a good team and I'm happy with my players. I still have my doubts that the Cubs will land Peavy, but people read into Lou's comments way too much.
  13. But..but..Lou said we didn't need any more starting pitching. That means that the Cubs will no longer pursue Peavy! The ESPN bottom line cannot be wrong! And what's this "after the Thanksgiving holiday" thing? It's basically over at 1 o'clock and even the football games suck this year. Make it happen tonight Jim!
  14. That would be a horrible trade. At least the article said KC was the one "focused" on getting both, not that the cubs had offered them. I don't want any part of Teahen at all however.
  15. I went to post this and then realized I was in Cubs discussions. Easily one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Baseball or otherwise.
  16. http://www.midthunder.com/GeneratedItems/PSA%20viggo%20photo2.jpg
  17. Agreed, however Eyre mentioned they had un-needed extra pressure from the 100 year thing. I can't imagine Cubs pressure is greater than ND. I could. They've look petrified in the playoffs two years in a row. Plus, he ran routes and caught passes in college games. Thats a little less pressure than pitching in the majors I would imagine.
  18. seconded I think I hate him more than any other baseball player.
  19. I think there may be better options than DeJesus, but it's obvious the Cubs are in a win now mode and I have my doubts Kosuke can put up a: .310/.384/.491 line against RHP next year. I doubt he could come close to the .302/.336/.391 against LHP either. I'm not saying that I would trade Pie straight up for DeJesus, even anything close to that. And if it were up to me, I'd be fine with Pie or Fukudome out there as long as we upgraded significantly in RF. But, the Cubs seem to be going all out for next year and I'm not sure either Pie or Kosuke could match DeJesus in production. EDIT: I should add that I'm assuming DeJesus would be added as a CF, in addition, to upgrading in RF. I don't think DeJesus is the big splash Hendry is looking to make.
  20. Maybe, but that's a really good CF platoon. DeJesus OPS'ed .875 vs. RHP last year and Johnson OPS'ed .848 vs. LHP last year DeJesus is 3 years younger and isn't he a pretty good defensive CF? Of course that leaves us with the question of what to do with Fukudome, not to mention Pie, because I'm assuming if DeJesus were to be acquired then he would be a CF.
  21. I'm sure he wont say what we all know..Weis sucks Look, I don't even know the guy.
  22. Or he just knows they will be cheaper And not as good. Personally, I'd take the younger, better fielding, more athletic DeJesus for this price tag: 09:$3.6M, 10:$4.7M, 11:$6M club option ($0.5M buyout) Than what it will probably cost to have the older, terrible defensive player, albeit better hitter in Ibanez. I'm assuming he'll get at least 3 years for at least double what DeJesus will make.
