  1. http://baseballcontinuum.com/2016/01/30/blogathon-16-jake-mintz-and-jordan-shusterman-nellys-batter-up/ I found this humorous. Stumbled onto it from the Cespedes Family BBQ twitter account
  2. That was my reaction as well CCR is the new EPDs
  3. it also projects only four AL teams to have a losing record ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. yep, no AL team projected to go worse than 6 games under .500. it's like the entire league is sort of up in the air. may be a fun trade deadline (well, i suppose they all are).
  5. while the french toast vs waffles argument could (perhaps should?) go on for centuries, who are the 9 maniacs that think pancakes should be considered? seriously? smh
  6. Prime? .275 .345 .460 BABIP it up by twenty points each in a career year. I think he's 4-5 years from a year like that if he does it though. for reference, take a look at how Barry Larkin did as a 23 year old in his second year in MLB
  7. I think DJ Wilson breaks out this year. He strikes me as this generation's Lenny Dykstra but really checks his inner-sociopath at the door while maintaining true grit. Hard to do that concurrently but I think he's cracked the code. Excited to see how he does - he's got elite gamer written all over him.
  8. well that's BS. all the bar owners in greenville got together about 5 years ago or so and spiked their prices. I mean, crap beer still has decent deals at some places on some nights, but rarely (if ever) do I see anything sold less than 2-3 dollars. All that said I usually end up getting an IPA or something on tap so it's whatever. well, to be clear, they're usually dirty cesspools and, if they're drafts, they're insanely extra watered down. i just know because i have a friend who is very cheap and likes to frequent these types of places. i at least try to keep him to the places that have bottles since they can't water those down extra. yeah, I should have also prefaced my response to "places that I will actually visit and aren't super shitty and dirty college bars". There are several of those (with terrible names like "The Tank") that I'm sure have dollar beers. But they're normally overrun with 18-22 year olds. I'd imagine it would be awkward to run into my 18-19 year old at a bar. And since I have close to 400 of them I can't even say with conviction if any random person is my advisee or student.
  9. For one [expletive] dollar, no less. I can't even find that deal in this cheap ass college town anymore. There are bars in Chicago that still do it on Thursday and even Friday nights. well that's BS. all the bar owners in greenville got together about 5 years ago or so and spiked their prices. I mean, crap beer still has decent deals at some places on some nights, but rarely (if ever) do I see anything sold less than 2-3 dollars. All that said I usually end up getting an IPA or something on tap so it's whatever.
  10. For one horsefeathering dollar, no less. I can't even find that deal in this cheap ass college town anymore.
  11. You guys are going to make David sick.
  12. Just cancelled my auto-renewal, too. it was surprisingly easy. I keep going back and forth of whether I should get the Cubs-only package or the full package. I mean, I really ONLY watch the Cubs so I think I'll just do the one-team thing. I think I just like to have the option to watch any game (even if I never seem to).
  13. Observations: 1) Vogelbach has some major sweaty armpits. Certain Dri, bro. 2) Travis Wood looks like the maniac he assuredly is. And why is he holding his beer like that? 3) Montero looks slimmer, too. And his teeth look amazingly bright. I love that man. 4) David Ross is grabbing Rizzo's tit (boob if it is on filter). 5) Kris Bryant isn't actually there. It's just a FatHead on the bar wall. 6) Hat tip to the Tito's vodka. Easily the best vodka. 7) Heyward is a badass. 8) Somebody please tell Scwarber to shave that [expletive] off his chin.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. http://www.angryasianman.com/images/angry/horrycow.jpg Yes. Both (or any) fan bases have their share of idiots and racists. Only one refers to themselves as the BFIB. What's your point?
  16. The colts just extended pagano
  17. the cubs have warren, wood, and even cahill that could step in and start if need be. i wouldn't necessarily be opposed to them adding a good starter (of course), but the need to add "depth" seems like it's unnecessary. at least to me - the 40 man roster is already in a crunch. Again, if they can pick up a quality #3-ish starter (I hate using that as a metric but I guess it's the easiest in this scenario) without overpaying then I'm fine. But after the Miller trade and the price on starting pitching in this FA class, I just think it will take too much. The cubs can use their resources in a better manner.
  18. he deserves (and should and will be paid) as well as any top MLB executive. 8-10 MM AAV I'm sure. I mean, are they really going to scoff at a few extra million per year in the current financial climate of the game?
  19. Not if those 3 all filled their ballot (all 10 votes used) with other reasonable choices. If one of them is reasonable, both are must-admits. They're the two best players on the list. edit: was amused to see the other day that Junior had 0.0 fWAR over his last seven seasons. I'd say it's a shame he didn't age better if he hadn't been in the division. was listening to sports radio the other night while driving and they (can't remember who - fox sports?) were interviewing bob costas. and he defended the three voters who left off KGJ by saying they could have been doing it "for someone that needed help...like Jim Edmonds".
  20. I feel like that's saying Starlin Castro, contributor to Player's Tribune. But maybe not. yeah, you could definitely be right. at first glance i took it to mean that he contributed to the article (i.e. contributed content but not the sole author). but your way makes total sense, too.
  21. to be fair, it says Starlin Castro/Contributor at the end
  22. The Oregon basketball court may be the worst playing surface on the eyes in all of sports. Even that hideous red football field is better (barely).
