  1. i really, really hate all this steroid speculation.
  2. Its just that he seems to pull the race card in every article he writes. Oh I know, im not defending Scoop, I think he's horrible. Im just saying that if a writer responsibly brings up the race card, good for them.
  3. Cobs.com is way behind the times.
  4. I remember when he used to write for Slam Magazine. I loved that magazine, but every article was worthless. Everything written in it, Scoop's stuff included, was nothing more than a circlejerk for the players. Hell, according to Slam, Marcus Camby was the next Kevin Garnett. Anyway, I don't have a problem with someone playing the race card, racism definitely exists in sports, and if you want to call attention to it, I'm all for it. I just hate it when the race card is used like it was in this article.
  5. Roy Oswalt was a 20th rounder too... I'd say he has a fair amount of raw talent. Sometimes every team just misses on a guy's potential. Actually, 23rd round. Though he was 22 and dominated AA when he was there, not 24 like Sing.

  7. Woohoo, Harvey is still hot-hot-hot his hot streak coincides with serena getting me da autograph...coincidence?
  8. Wasnt his career ops+ like 80? I dont have a problem with Ozzie being in the HOF, and I HATED him when I was growing up. In it's current incarnation, Ozzie and Sandber belong. If the HOF were truely a HOF, Ozzie wouldn't be in, and Ryno would probably have just missed the cut. Ozzie was a below average hitter at his position, and was way above average defensively. Sandberg was an above average hitter at his position, and was above average defensively.
  9. last year, i decided to actually buy that card online. i always wanted it when i was little, but i could never find it. i dont know anything about baseball cards now, but it was beckett graded something or other, i was pretty stoked to finally own that damn card.
  10. Well, that's an angle I never looked at before.
  11. Via the Tribune. What a steal! No kidding! Not only do we break into the Pirate's house and rob them, we get to piss on their carpet too! that carpet really tied the room together.
  12. Awesome, Harvey is so hot right now, Harvey.
  13. Griffey is a guy who would make it through waivers, because of his large contract. I sure would love to see the Cubs get him, however, I think the Cubs are done with deals for the season. Griffey could get through waivers, but could the players being sent to Cincy get through?
  14. It's funny to see the looks on batters faces as they swing too late on a 90 mph fastball.
  15. It's on now. Skinny guys, Bowa playing with Aviators on, NO ONE on the roofs ... so much has changed. I wish Costas still had a baseball job. Hahha, I saw Bowa too, it was cracking me up. Looks like he flew to the game and just forgot to take them off.
  16. I gave it a yuck label because of who we got. Lawton always does well in the first half, then DIES DIES DIES in teh second. Oh well. I guess this isnt too bad of a situation. I'm just a little dissapointed we couldnt nab somebody else. It's not the slam dunk we were looking for, but it definitely improves the team. And it was worth the gamble.
  17. Hill also AVERAGED a little more then 6.1 IP in the minors. This is a not NEW thing. The Cubs need pitchers who can eat innings. And with today's OUTING by Maddux, the Cubs now have three starters who can barely go 5 innings. So, if you don't think the Cubs shouldn't be concern about Hill's (Maddux and Williams) inability to go deep into a game CONSISTANTLY, then you are overlooking a problem. I like Hill, but his stamina tells me, he is a middle reliever dressed up as a starter. You can't have three guys in the rotation, barely giving you 5 IPs per start, you taxed the bullpen TOO quick. And ignoring the problem won't go away. Again, most back of the rotation guys go 5 to 6 innings on average. Once Hill gets a little more comfortable, he'll start to lower his pitch counts. If not, good thing we're adding Wood and Williamson to the bullpen.
  18. Any lineup with Gonzo in it means trouble for Maddux.
  19. That was a shot at Sammy, and a shot at most of the sluggers in the game today. The shout out for Santo was awsome, btw.
  20. probably because no gm in their right mind is going to tell the 100% gods honest truth to a reporter.
  21. I don't think any deals can be announced this late after the deadline. Unless some dumb receptionist in the commisioner's office like, died or something, on the way with the trade papers. If that happened, I can definitely see there being a hold up.
  22. Thanks for the update.
