  1. The Cubs arenn't "chasing" anyone. I hate that term in sports. What we do has no effect on what the Nationals or the Braves, or the Phillies are doing, as long as we aren't playing them. We're "chasing" the Giants for the next two days, and then after that we're "chasing" someone else.
  2. It's not like Burnett has been back on the DL since coming off TJ.
  3. Couldn't Kearns play CF? With Murton in LF batting 2nd it would give the Cubs this lineup Walker Murton- good place for a singles hitter that draws walks Lee Burnitz Ramirez Kearns SS- be it Nomar, Cedeno or Perez (in that order) Barrett Not too shabby That still would mean that Dusty was starting Murton, which he has shown he doesnt want to do. Unless for some reason Hollandsworth is magically traded, do you really there is a chance Murton gets the majority of the starts versus RH pitching?
  4. Heh, he won't walk away from 9 million dollars.
  5. I'd like either Kearns or Dunn, too. We need to do something, because Holly's hot streak died a cold death, and it looks like Murton is pretty much going to be stuck a straight L/R platoon. He looks to me like he's just a singles hitter with a nice approach anyway. I'm pretty convinced that Kearns will outproduce both Holly and Murton, but I'm afraid that Kearns recent hot streak in AAA has jacked up his price, and If Hendry is unwilling to part with Hill for Dunn, I can't imagine he'd give up anyone of value for Kearns. Hell, who knows if Kearns would get 90% of the PT even if we did trade for him.
  6. i got to see him in st louis his rookie year, he really looked athletic in the field, he made a couple of really nice plays. Why isnt he playing 2B in the minors?
  7. if the last two days dont teach you not to give up on this team, nothing will
  8. Hawk should give this game to us as repayment.
  9. they probably dont do a lot of baserunning work with the pitchers.
  10. What kind of Cubs fan wastes his time looking up stats like that? Don't you know that Neifi is just plain terrible and shouldn't be in the major leagues? Um...Neifi is plain terrible as an everyday SS on a contending team. Stats like that are usually aberrations. It probably wasn't you, USSoccer, but I recall a ton of posters on this site saying that Hendry was an idiot for signing Perez after he was cut by the Giants. Neifi didn't deserve to play in the majors. He was another team's reject. No one, at that time, qualified any of their statements the way you just did. I wish they had. Whats the difference? He's still bad either way.
  11. Didnt we have a triple play in the organization earlier in the year?
  12. I'm starting a Fantasy Football league, and we need a few more players. The draft will be held here on NSBB. If you want to play, and will stick with it from week to week and year to year, let me know, and ill pm you the info.
  13. you should have heard what me and rocket were saying about you.
  14. How many homeruns does Alou hit? I'm thinking two, but there is an outside shot of 3.
  15. I wonder which of those websites he has posted on? Anyone know if Len uses the internets? to me, the greatest honor would definitely be having the man himself visit and contribute to the website I sent a request for a Q & A. I didn't receive a "yes", but I didn't receive a "no". Any website that secured a Q and A with Len would surely go down in history as the greatest website in the history of websites.
  16. you dont say?

  18. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH HAHAHHAHHAHAHH WTF
  19. If Demp blows this, Im going to take a dump in an envelope and send it to him. If he doesnt blow it, Im sending it to Jimmy E.

    Amazin' A's

A's are better than Marlins. Miggy is the best player on both teams though.
  21. Eh, I like Crawford. His ability to get himself to second negates a little bit of his OBP deficiency.

  23. That's a dubious statement ... but I'll grant you that the fans' attitude/atmosphere at Wrigley had a big hand in dealing us the events of Game 6. You would be correct. I should know. I was there. The studies that have shown that mass consciousness can affect the outcome of events are well-documented. It was something like a group of patients at a hospital were prayed for and group wasn't. The results were surprising, IIRC. Wasn't there another study recently done on patients who were prayed for, meditated for, some combination of the two, or neither that concluded prayer and meditation did nothing for them? I can't imagine that anyone actually believes that mass conciousness has an effect on something like the outcome of a baseball game, that's just ridiculous. Thanks for your 2 cents. When you educate yourself, the ridiculous can transform into the sublime. By all means then, please continue fooling yourself into believing nonsense. And you can continue fooling yourself into thinking you know better. How the hell can anyone actually believe this? What happens if 2 million cub fans think positive thoughts about the game, and 2 million cardinal fans do the same? A tie?
