  2. Here are some interesting stats Cobs-really bad 162 games a year
  3. getting manny would be like saying in july, i want an ipod mini for christmas, and then salma hayek shows up and gives you a 200gig ipod and also kisses you.
  4. Fine, so when the Cubs fail to score the runner from 3rd with no outs, or a Cubs pitcher blows a pretty good lead late in the game, you can sit there and sing "kumbaya" while I express my displeasure with thier performance. Yes, because those of us who don't boo obviously are happy when the Cubs struggle. Again, what does booing accomplish? Are the players so stupid they don't understand when they failed and need the fans booing to help them figure it out? In regards to what oldcubsfan mentioned, I really liked Ryan Dempster's quotes on the topic. By that logic, what good would complaining about the Cubs/Hendry/Dusty do on this board? Why even do it if its such a big fat waste of time and won't change anything? NSBB has become popular enough now to where some of the people affiliated with the Cubs have read it. Do you think posting your displeasure on an internet message board is going to change things, either? Not a flame, Raisin, I'm just trying to make a point. Maybe I'm misreading you, but do you really think that all the complaining on this board about Dusty and the Cubs matters to the organization? Do you truly think a business decision is made because of posts on this board? You are misreading me. I'm saying that's NOT the case. Raisin said something to the effect of "booing won't help a player become better" and I said "well, by that logic posting about something you dislike in the Cubs orgaization on this board won't make things better, either, so what's the point?" Booing isnt quite the same as having a discussion, either, so that makes no sense. How many discussions here remain 100 percent civil? This one certainly hasn't. An uncivil discussion is still a lot better than "BOOOOOOOO".
  5. It was dumb overmanaging. He played the bottom of the inning for one run, got 0, and gave up 2 more in the process. Well done.

    Murton

Is Murton hot because he's facing lefties or would he be hot no matter who he bats against? Before answering, he's struck out five times in 10 at-bats against righties. Hasn't he also gotten 3 hits in those 10 ABs? I'll ask again, is he hot because he's facing lefties or would he be hot anyway? I like Murton a lot, and would hope some of the vets would learn his plate discipline. I also don't want him in a position to be overmatched. As I said yesterday, I wouldn't have a problem with him facing a rookie righthander or a below average righthander. So, would he be playing considerably less under this scenario vs. the way he's being used now? I'm just glad that we're seeing two lefties this series. Again, I go back to my desire to get a true everyday leftfielder....the same desire I stated last off-season. Murton hit righties in the minors just fine, and when the alternative to Murton is a piece of excrement named Todd Hollandsworth I'll take Murton. If Holla is a piece of excrement, and he's a million times better at baseball than you, what does that make you? Jesus, are you even trying anymore? This is like watching a new De Niro movie, just phoning it in.
  7. If we do something, good, if we dont, oh well, were still good enough to at least keep the WC race interesting.
  8. It was stupid. He did it because he wanted to leave Ohman in to pitch the seventh, which is stupid considering he's nothing more than a LOOGY. Anyway, Ohman was set to lead off, so he wanted to double switch so he could leave Ohman in to pitch. No runs scored, and Ohman, of course, blew. GG Dusty, a new low.
  9. Dude, optimism at this point is moot. The Cubs have BARELY won the games vs St Louis, and Frisco. I mean we have gotten totally lucky. The Cubs SHOULD have won 6 in a row. They lacked driving in runners in scoring position. The team as a whole is not doing well, and IS choking. To win the wild card, we need win streaks. I tip my cap to the Astros, looks like they'll win it again this year. Quite the misnomer! Hahhahaha
  10. He didn't want Ohman leading off the inning in a 1-0 game and Murton batted last. It's either him or Hollandsworth in that situation. Gerut just doubled. So pinch hit for him, it's not like Ohman is staying in to pitch the seventh. It just reeks of overmanaging to me. Obviously it worked out, but still, its odd. Are you sure? Yikes, this is a really bad idea. Told you.
  11. Cubs are 1 and 0 when they walk more than their opponents. Kidding.

  14. does anyone know why gerut is in? i mean, seriously, can anyone explain this? did dusty forget that Halsey is a lefty? YOU SHUT UP IDIOT, GERUT IS AWESOME AND WILL PROBABLY GET A DOUBLE
  15. Why is he putting Gerut in? What the hell is he doing? did he fall asleep?
  16. Why the hell is Williams still out there? Hes walking the tightrope the whole game, but dusty sends him out for the 6th?
  17. Cubs lead by 22 runs this season. They also have a BA that is .018 above the D-backs and a SLG that is .038 above. The D-Backs have a slight (.002) advantage in OBP. I'd say the Cubs offense is better. You know what I don't get? We are ahead of the White Sox in OBP, SLG, and BA, but they have seriously outscored us. What's up with that? Pitching. I dont think their pitching has caused them to outscore us.
  18. I just want to point on, in true Fred style, that we are 4 and 2 when you freak out by the 4th inning and say you're leaving.
  19. They called his house and asked his wife if she was pregnant.

  21. wait, tony clark is hitting .330? did i just step int0 1998, or what?
  22. plz interject this into every thread
  23. i think any male genetalia that looks like that would be pretty funny looking
  24. that was easily the worse slide i have ever seen in my life. Any higher and he would have kicked him in the face. I think it was one of those things where your body acts ahead of your brain. I think everyone has done something like that before, just not in front of a million people. Sammy (unlike ARod and Fick) apologized immediately and afterwards, so I think this is probably a non-issue.

    Murton

I disagree. When a player is young like Murton and is developing, it is best that he gets to play everyday and to develop and mature as a player. You don't learn much sitting on the bench. He will have to hit righties some day, he needs to play now. You probably need to read the story from yesterday's game. According to Murton, it sounds as if he's learning a lot in games when he sits. Well what's he going to say? I need to play against Righty's but Dusty won't let me? Of course he's gonna say he's learning alot. He's a rookie with no pull. Just like a little lemming in an office that never contradicts the boss. Also, I really don't see Francouer and the rest of the bunch sitting in Atlanta and watching. They play, and they play alot. further, it's not like Holly's tearing it up in the least bit. I love when fans can only retort, "what's he going to say" when what is quoted doesn't coincide with their argument. Yeah, there's no way Murton learns anything while on the bench even though cameras have shown him talking with players. Yeah, the kids in Atlanta are playing, but so is a dinosaur like Franco. I wonder if you'd even know their names if we hadn't played the Braves? I wonder if you were the manager and they went 1-30 would you had stayed with them or benched them? See, our decisions never get seen so we don't get to critique your ideas. I don't like Hollandsworth and it ticks me off that he's still striking out on pitches he struck out on eight and nine years ago. But I'm done griping about Hollandsworth because I did it ever since he was promised more playing time by Hendry and Baker. I also recognize that Murton's success so far has been because he's hitting only against lefties. His five strikeouts in 10 at-bats against righties leads me to believe that he should slowly get worked in against righties. I don't want to see him against Schmidt, Clemens, Oswalt, Carpenter, etc. You mean the same way Dusty fans say "well, whats Dusty supposed to say?" when he talks about how great Neifi etc... is?
