    Uh oh

Miguel Cabrera .357 Derrek Lee .356
  2. The story about my great grandmother was as fictional as that dialogue you just wrote...here in Indiana there are plenty of mascots that are based off of white men such as the Andrean 59ers, Mishawaka Cavemen, Jimtown Jimmies, Floyd Central Highlanders, Plymouth Pilgrims....etc and not once has any discussion been had about replacing those. All have ridiculous mascots who dance around at games as well. Surely there are some relatives of those folks (well save for cavemen) who would be offended you say? I say NO because its A DANG SPORTS MASCOT Yeah, because the Pilgrims and the Redmen are the same thing. Give me a break.
  3. How many pitches has Nomar seen tonight?
  4. i really, really like David Wright.
  5. This is why I said that I would be in favor of letting the local indian groups decide for themselves. Maybe the Mississippi Choctaws are fine, but if the Indian people in Utah don't enjoy being a mascot, I say they shouldnt have to be.
  6. the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians don't seem to mind. I can't speak for natives in other necks of the woods but around here they don't care and I know a good many and am 1/16th myself. i think the mississippi band of choctaw indians is in the minority when it comes to native americans' stand on this Ahh...I see, the Choctaws don't count. And your statistics on this subject are where? I would be in favor of letting area indian governments decide on whether or not the schools should be able to keep these mascots. Just because the Mississippi Choctaws dont mind, doesnt mean that the Tahlequah Cherokee's enjoy the school here having a REDMAN for a mascot.
  7. how can we all not be in agreement that we probably shouldnt be making mascots out of races that we tried to kill off? Isnt that about the most degrading thing ever?
  8. well that didnt work good thing arrested development is on in 20 minutes.
  9. Unfortunately sitting on the bench hinders his development, as he still has some things to work on. If he's not going to get regular playing time, then he should be in AAA. He's only 22. His "develpment" will pickup where it left off when he becomes the Cubs everyday SS in 2006 (?) or beyond. Either he can play or he can't. There are guys who spend their entire career in the minors and never develop into ML quality. this is just ignorant - cedeno has things that need to be worked on, and without regular playing time, he will not be able to do that. he needs to be playing in the majors or be sent down to the minors. I love how you call me ignorant because my opinion differs with yours. That's the best way to get anyone to see your point Met 1-0 on cheap Beltran hit. I think he said it was ignorant because he feels that it is an ignorant opinion, not just because it's different than yours.
  10. Agreed. I got drilled in the face, except I actually got my hands on it(of course it still hit my face hard enough to bounce out for a corner). Didn't stop the nose from bleeding though. I almost tore my thumb off my left hand my senior year while playing keeper.
  11. Just curious. He was ice cold for April/May, warmed up a bit for June, and posted a red hot July. .390/.449/.590/1.040 His season numbers are .271/.333/.417/.749 which look pretty good after a few months of Everyday Neifi. Not to mention, after May, Furcal stood at .229/.292/.330/.622 Anyway, I really can't see him signing for less than 4/32, and if that's the case, I'd rather go with a Nomar 1 year-5 mil+Ronny situation. On the other hand, Atlanta probably won't resign him, and if enough owners are turned off by his cold start, he might come cheaper than expected.
  12. I say yes without looking at his stats, so give me a sec and I might change my mind. EDIT 3 or 4 more 300/400/500 30-100 seasons, and i think yes, he's in.
  13. I say he shocks everyone and goes in as a new jersey devil.
  14. What is the point of this? What are we going to do, get Roberts or Mora through waivers?
  15. Imagine if he hadnt channeled Ankiel for one start.
  16. Sammy didnt deserve the MVP in 98, and if the season ended today, Pujols wouldnt deserve the MVP. You cant hold Lee accountable for our pitching injuries/ineffectiveness.
  17. If the only thing between the Cubs and Giles is Murton, you sign Giles. If the only thing between the Cubs and Giles is the amount of years he wants, you keep Murton. Hey this is easy.
  18. Lee+Ramirez+5 mil for Dunn? I'd do it.
  19. The whole Royal roster plus their whole farm system for Pie. (Royals pay all salaries) I still don't think I'd do it. I would do a Pie for Butler and Alex Gordon in a heartbeat. If the Royals want to add their entire farm system for Pie let them go ahead. If Gordon ever signs, he will probably be a better prospect than Pie before too long.
  20. What? Are you telling me it's not just the ball he can't get up? BTW, I never understood Burroughs lack of power. He's a big boy. He doesn't seem to swing down at the ball either. Remember how awesome he was in the LLWS? Funny how that works. And Burroughs won't be Boggs unless he gets a big green wall to slap doubles off of.
  21. if we consolidated all the neifi and dusty threads into one thread, it would be so big, it would have its own gravitational pull, and it would cause the internets to blow up.

    Amazin' A's

if da ellis didnt shop at wal-mart, he would have done better.
  23. I'm glad you were able to admit that. Rather big of you dude. You've never been to Wrigley? Dang. I think it would be harder to be a fan of your team and never make the pilgrimage than to be the guy who lives walking distance from the stadium and goes all the time. That's dedication. Also, what is up with all the highway tolls in your state? I didn't know they were there and had no change on me driving through. What a pain. I've been to one game at Wrigley in my life. It took six months of convincing the school board to let my class take our senior trip to Chicago, but I raised the money by myself and convinced them to let us go. All so I could watch the Cubs play the Reds, once. I raised the money for all the tickets myself too. As far as the tolls, tell me about it.
  24. Id rather have Trot when healthy, and neither right now.
