  1. So lets see one.
  2. Being a great hitter doesn't mean you will be a great hitting instructor. Dusty's prowess as a MLB player and his ability to assess and instruct can be mutually exclusive things. Dusty was a good hitter so he automatically knows what's best for Murton? BS. It's like that in all facets of life. For example, I have met awesome golfers who couldn't teach you a thing about how to swing a club effectively. I knew awesome mathematicians who couldn't help me at all with my math. I am a pretty damn good writer, but I have a hard time imparting writing knowledge on to students I tutor. The notion that if two people are analysts/managers and the one who has had success as a player automatically has more insight is a total and utter crock. The Cubs are one of the best slugging teams in the NL, and Baker's the same guy who managed Bonds. I don't like Baker, mostly due to his incredible stubbornness and constantly changing lineups. However, he's not as bad as some on this board say. He probably knows a lot more about hitting than many of the armchair coaches on this board, who probably never got past high school ball. Here's a fun little job for you. Go find one post on this board by someone who claims to be a better hitting instructor than Baker. Find one post by someone who has said that they could teach someone to hit better than Baker.
  3. Hahha, Roast is going to get killed some day going for a pressure point on someone.
  4. Keep Prior and Maybe Zambrano. Everyone else is up for grabs.
  5. it's a delicate balance.
  6. move macias to the rotation for all i care.
  7. It was something Bruce Miles either said on this site, or in one of his articles. I don't have the exact quote on me. It was in the "Deal For Adam Dunn soon" thread. Everyone was wetting their pants about a deal of Hill/Mitre/Patterson for Dunn, and Bruce came in and said that there was no such deal, and that Hendry wouldnt even trade Hill straight up for Dunn. Obviously that doesnt mean that the Reds offered us that deal, but if Bruce said it, I'm pretty much obliged to take him at his word that he knows Hendry wouldnt go for it. Then I guess it shows the original quote was made up. The quote was made up, but the fact that Hendry wouldnt trade Hill for Dunn, straight up is true. Based on what? Based on Bruce Miles saying it. I guess you're calling him a liar then. That was Bruce's opinion at the time, just not a fact or a quote from Hendry. Yeah, Im sure Bruce came over here to pawn off his opinion as fact. Believe what you want.

  11. That can't actually be true. Surely. It isn't, just another made up quote. Really? Why don't you ask Bruce Miles that?
  12. I thought you liked the Marlins also...just get on board all the way with them! I really hate the organization though
  13. Anyone who believes that is an idiot. Hendry's the same guy who said Sammy would be the starting rf this year. Hey, Miles said it was true.
  14. man, no sac fly again!
  15. I think he meant that Ryno would have been inducted in 2001 had his career begun a few years earlier.
  16. Pawelek night is becoming my favorite night of baseball.

  18. I bet you had decendants at Gettysburg in 1863 who wined that Lincoln sounded like a bitter old man. As HOF speeches go, Sandberg's was one of the best. Yeah, because Ryno's speech really compares to the Gettysburg Address. I have no idea what point you're even trying to make, other than trying to be a huge jerk. I bet when Herbie Hancock signed the declaration of independance on abraham nunez's hat, that you're grandpappy threw a fit!
  19. BP listed him as the #1 prospect in baseball before last season.
  20. i dont do martial arts because id rather just get drunk
  21. That's one way to think about it but I think he's a gamer. He decided to forgo his ego and pitch out of the 'pen when he could have asked to be shut down. 'gamer' my... go get 'em Murton... Wood is injury prone but how can you argue that he wants to be hurt or doesnt want to pitch? The guy's heart can't be measured by physical limitations. I'm sure he'd love to make 30+ starts a year. if Wood was a true 'gamer', he'd pitch through real pain. this "twinge in my shoulder/ elbow/ back/" is laughable. it's one thing for a young pitcher to think about his future when the big payday is far off. quite another for K-Woody, when he's being paid far more than he's worth, and will EVER make again. my point is that there is no reason for Wood to keep shutting himself down because of a "twinge". you're being paid to pitch. take the ball, and suck it up son... Are you kidding me? He doesn't put himself on the dl. Jesus. no? then who keeps calling Rothchild to the mound, or telling Krusty they can't go another inning due to a "twinge"? Probably the same people that have invested over 30 million dollars in him. Kerry got injury prone because he pitched through pain. If you want to say that he's injury prone, ok, i agree, but to say that he's soft because he's always hurt is ridiculous.
