  1. Awesome. Ryan, I know you pitched some before getting drafted, right? When warming up in the outfield between innings, do you ever whip a slider or a curveball over to the centerfielder, to make him look stupid? I would.
  2. Ugghh, bring them over here, we could do better than that.
  3. Ellis is hitting like .375 over the last month.
  4. 1 and 1/3 wins more than Carpenter.
  5. Really? I don't remember the stats, but I thought RJ had a better era, IP, and K rate. Johnson: 2.60 ERA, 246.2 IP, 10.62 K/9, .89 WHIP Zambrano: 2.75 ERA, 210.2 IP, 8.07 K/9, 1.21 WHIP Looks like Johnson was better. I figured he meant that Zambrano was more deserving than Clemens. I dont know that I believe that, but I figured thats what he meant.
  6. No alternate jersey ever, unless they make one that doesnt suck. Remember in the 80's, the road jersey? Why not make one that color, but with "Chicago" written across it, instead of the logo? Would look pretty hot, id think.
  7. 23rd pick in the draft-Carnell Williams.
  8. I posted this in last nights game thread, but in case anyone else is interested, here you go. July 15-Aug 17 28/114 13 Runs 8 Doubles 0 Triples (Shocker) 6 HR 25 RBI 10 BB (good) 25 K (not too bad) .245/.306/.473/.779 over that span .240/.296/.383/.679 for the season So, he's not doing incredible, but it's an improvement.
  9. Ok, I did it myself and here's what I got.
  10. Any idea on Dope's stats for say, the last 30 days or so? I want to believe that his slg% has greatly improved, but who knows for sure.
  11. More important than it is to start the season off strong? A win in April counts the same in the standings as a win in August. Wins do count the same in April as they do in September. On the other hand, if you lose a game in April, you still have 130+ games to make up for it. The later it gets, the fewer opportunities you have to make up ground or maintain a lead. So who cares what Pujols is doing now, the Cardinals are safely in the playoffs already.

  13. I hate the "what have you done for me lately" mentality that takes place in these "who should win this award" debates. Lee has struggled recently, and Pujols has done really well, but what about earlier in the season, when Lee was blowing Pujols out of the water, despite Pujols playing amazingly? Those games don't count anymore? Lee's numbers are still better than Pujols, despite his recent struggles. By the end of the season, I think Pujols will deserve to win. But if the season stopped today, Lee should win.
  14. Valuable enough to carry them to 5.5 games back from a playoff spot. What does that have to do with how valuable he is? If Pujols numbers are better at the end of the season (I've said all season long that they would be), then he deserves the MVP. If Lee's numbers are better, then he deserves it. In 98, did you want Sammy to win the MVP because we made the playoffs and you didnt?
  15. That's the same thing people said that unjustly won Sammy the MVP in 98. Being the MVP should have nothing to do with the quality of the rest of your team.
  16. Cracker cant handle the heat is all.

    sulley we miss you
  18. 18th pick-Steven Jackson-Dreadlocks St Louis
  19. Corey killed Oswalt in the minors too.
  20. Outshined told me that if Kevin Jones was available at this pick, to put him down for it so, with the 14th pick in the draft, Masturbatory Autism picks Kevin Jones, RB, Detroit.
  21. Yeah, who wants a .300 hitting second baseman making so little?
  22. she HAS cancer they're runnin out of you! What's the difference, you're their all time best seller! ok, you can stay.
  23. Hey Nate, thanks for checking in. Couple of questions. 1a-I've heard things about Grant Johnson having some wonky mechanics. I haven't been able to travel the approximately 1000 miles to Peoria to check for myself, but in your opinion, are his mechanics troublesome enough that they may be something that holds him back? 1b-I've also heard things about Grant Johnson's mother being a little....enthusiastic...have you had any run ins with her this season? 2-How is Ryan Harvery's knee holding up? Does he look 100% to you?
  24. I can't believe there is a 12 page thread on a Cubs board about whether a Cardinal or an Astro should win a meaningless award. I hope the two teams charter planes crash into each other.
