And so has Eyre. Lol, when? those 16 great innings in 2001? I guess you mean 2003, when he struck out 35 in 60+ innings. No, this is what I mean... Sometimes, it pays to look a little deeper. Are you calling 2004 a good season? I'll give you 2003, since the end result was pretty decent, but hell, his 2004 was better than 2003, or, it would have been, had he not given up 8 homeruns. I know you arent calling 2002 a good season. Or 2001, since he only tossed 16 innings. We wont even get into 1997-2001, since he was either garbage or starting. Why comment that he's garbage or starting if you aren't gonna get into a time period 5-8 years ago? Because he was garbage, or starting, and in neither case was he any good, so obviously CubsWin wasnt counting those seasons as anything positive. -

Was that necessary? huh? sorry, i have no idea who the hell he is, i'd never heard of him. I think he's referring to the post Cheesehead made asking Roast to not use the lords name in vain. However I did get a good laugh out of your post about who the hell he was. :wink: oh, i wont get into it in this thread, i guess, but who's lord is he referring to?

Leadoff and CF was not the only problem. RF was as big a hole as CF last year. Pierre is a mediocre CF, Furcal is a 2nd tier SS, Giles is an outstanding RF. I don't want to hear about the "doesn't want to play here" BS. Players will play where they are offered money. You don't know if Giles wants to come here unless you try and convince him to come here. And if you're turned down early, don't just give up. That can't be your excuse not to go for the best. Furcal is a young playoff tested switch hitter, with speed, power, great range, a cannon arm and he's a second tier shortstop? Miggy Arod (3b) Micheal Young I mean I understand Furcal might be overpriced but 2nd tier? Goony we also don't know that Giles will sign with anyone anytime soon considering all the teams in the bidding. I'm not understanding what's confusing. You just basically named the first tier. (Peralta and Lopez could also be considered part of that tier, pending repeat performances.) Furcal is not as strong a player as them. He's the next step down, hence second tier. Jeter's a definite step above Furcal as well, at least as far as offense is concerned. Jeter just cant quite catch the ball like Furcal can.
