Hansbrough, should he come out, is a 20-40 range guy, not a lotto.
  6. http://www.thermocaster.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/sampson4.jpg I can't believe he's doing this stuff again. At least it's going to (presumably) kill someone else's program and not ours.
  7. I love ST games because you get to see all the prospects' names in the box scores
  8. If I were Bruce, you'd have to fight me to get me to interview anyone that isn't Dempster. It's such a relief when you find an athlete that's actually quotable.
  9. Ok, so I think I have all the right owners, even though I don't necessarily have them all matched up to their specific teams. What we'll do is, I'll post the draft order and if you see that you aren't on the list, but you should be (or vice versa) let me know and I'll get her fixed up. As for the draft order, I did in a very highly scientific way. I numbered each owner 1-through-12, and then had my brother spout of numbers between 1-and-12 at random to select the order. So, without further ado, here's the list. Mizzou Wolf Vance Rocket Cheapseats IMB Rob earth2sean David Derwood Andy RynoRules RynoRules Andy Derwood David earth2sean Rob IMB Cheapseats Rocket Vance Wolf Mizzou When you make your selection please, please (PLEASE), pm the next owner. We don't have a very long time to get this draft done and I'd like to get as many picks in as possible. As far as how many keepers we do, I'm thinking five, but I'm open to suggestions. Oh, please post suggestions in the other thread so we can keep this one with draft picks only. If Tim or one of the other mods wants to set us up with another forum for ourselves and move our two threads over, that would be much appreciated. So Mizzou, you are on the clock.
  10. they pm'd me or had already told me that they wanted in before i posted this thread
  11. 1. Me - The B. Roberts Saga 2. vance - fukudome 3. andy - Watermelon Vendors 4. ryno rules 5. rocket - Know When 2 Fuld 'em 6. cheapseats 7. derwood - Columbus Derwoods 8. wolf - dontavius 9. david - Mattingly'sSideburns 10. Rob - bloomington bums 11. Mizzou 12. earth2sean - bottom dwellers This is what I've figured out so far. I'm pretty sure that ryno rules, cheapseats and Mizzou are the other three owners.
  12. So now I just need to know who manages these three teams *Rusch* Phil Rogers +9 Baby You Know My Name
  13. See, I couldn't figure out if you had made it in or not. Somehow I miscounted or something. Some people grabbed invites and then didn't join the league for a while, and I couldn't tell how many people we were up to.
  14. What happened was that the league filled up a spot before I thought it would. I don't know if I sent out one too many invites or what. I need people to claim these teams, the rest I've deduced on my own. *[expletive]* Phil Rogers +9 Baby You Know My Name Bloomington Bums Sorry, I know bottom dwellers = earth2sean
  15. Ok, the league is filled up, one way or another. So everyone who is in, post here with your team name (except for Vance, heh) and I'll set up the draft order.
  16. Yep. Using OBP and SLG and projected playing time, it's pretty easy to convert to runs. Oh, I gotcha. You're going to average the averages and then just plug them in to the estimated PT.
  17. Lofton and Bruce both bat left-handed. How are they going to platoon? Lofton vs. all veterans, Bruce vs. all 1st or 2nd year pitchers. Close. Bruce would get all of the tough veteran pitchers who would make him look bad. can't trust Bruce to face the young pitchers, as we don't have the book on them yet Gotta give Kenny a rest dude. It's like you have an old dog and a young dog. You let your old dog run around with the young dogs, he's just gonna get tired out. Can't teach him new tricks or somethin. How does it go?
  18. To keep muscles toned and in shape. Bulk doesn't help you with pitching all that much. It's probably a bad thing. Do you see a lot of bulky swimmers? Phelps only weighs 195 pounds and he's 6'4''. Still, it's like James said, swimming and baseball are just two different things. David Wells probably couldn't make it to the other side of an Olympic sized swimming pool, but he can rack up 240 wins and throw a perfect game. argument over, babe ruth would still hit 900 home runs today
  19. that's like asking "if two people own the same car but one has 2 speeding tickets and the other doesn't, which is more likely to speed?" more like "if two people own the same car but one has two speeding tickets, which one is more likely to violently murder his entire family?"

    The NBA thread

If you think Hinrich is "lead-footed," you don't know what you're talking about. He orchestrated the best fast-break offense in college basketball for two years. Scouting reports list his quickness, athleticism, and court awareness as strengths. You can argue whether or not the Bulls would be better without him. But to say he's some slow-footed, un-athletic throwback PG suggests you're not very familiar with his skill-set. Noah isn't lead-footed either. both of these guys aren't coordinated enough to play in that style of offense. if hinrich played at that pace he'd lead the league in turnovers. fast paced play doesn't really agree with noah. neither does FT shooting. Seriously, what are you talking about? That's the exact style of offense he excelled at in college. How is he not "coordinated"? Ever heard of the "Carolina break"? It was called the "Kansas Break" when Hinrich was in college. And I'm not joking. I don't know enough about Noah to argue him, but I'm left wondering if you have Aaron Gray and Kirk Hinrich confused here. We ran the Kansas break in high school. (we had three guys that shot 90% from the 3-point line that were drafted but they all went to college. They graduated in different years, of course. What were their names? uh oh, ambiennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn) We did run the kansas break, though.
  21. how does this work if we aren't giving out ab totals or IP totals? Averaging averages?
  22. I wonder what their names were?
  23. Overhead, without any fuss, the stars were going out.

You like him more than Rose? Hmm, not really, but that may just be my guard-bias speaking. For one thing, look at what Dwight Howard did as a straight out of high school rookie in the NBA now look at what Jordan is doing as a straight out of high school freshman in the weak big 12. Not a lot of comparison. His ceiling is way, way high, but you'd like to see something more than tools at this point, at least if you're thinking about drafting him above a guy like Rose. Of course, you know how people are with big men.
  25. 42 ounces, actually (still heavy as god knows). But, do you really think pitchers in the 20's and 30's threw that much slower? When I was playing in high school, the average pitcher we faced was throwing in the low to mid 80's and the good ones could get it into the 90's. These are 16-17 year olds with no real conditioning and no real training. So, a 2008 teenager >>>>>>> 1925 grown man that is a professional athlete? i'll quote this from the baseball between the numbers book from baseball prospectus: is that a louisiana 5a swim meet i think not sir
