  1. I'm much more embarassed about the way Cubs fans treated Corey than the Cubs. Why? If you can't guess, I probably can't explain why. Its as simple as "if you dont' perform you might get booed." It is not a new concept in sports or to the Cubs. On top of Corey's problems, he continued to do the same things that made him a failure in the first place (like always swing at the first pitch, swing at a fastball above his head, etc. ). Corey may have been the nicest guy in the world, but there is nothing embarrasing about a team's fanbase expressing displeasure with a player that is not performing. It happens all of the time and it is part of the package. I'm sure that if Corey would have put together a great year, the same people booing him would have been cheering him the loudest. I hope that Corey does great with the Orioles, too. But I don't feel the least bit sorry for him, he is a big boy. =D>
  2. Personally, I think Eyre was a little overpriced, but I'm ok with it because we haven't had a good lefty non-specialist in awhile. Howry, however, I thought was a bit of a bargain if anything. He's been a pretty decent closer in the past and IMO is much better than guys that got much better contracts like Farnsworth and Looper.
  3. Well, I booed Corey once it was clear that he wasn't going to turn things around no matter what. I did so to express to Dusty that I didn't want to see him in the lineup and to Hendry that I didn't want to see him on the team. However, I would have loved to see him do well with the Cubs, but there was a point last summer, after watching him swing like a blind man for months, that it just wasn't going to workout for him with the Cubs. I do hope he becomes a great player with the Orioles or whoever, and I won't be the least bit bitter if he does. If that makes me one of the embarassments, so be it.

  5. Then promptly turning it off for the next 6 months.
  6. Oakland's going to be winning the AL west -- I doubt Beane's going to trade Zito mid-year. Why would StL trade Mulder? I could see them trading Mulder if they fall out of it, which is highly unlikely. They have an older team, so they might try to get some young major league talent if they are under .500 or something at the deadline. Add Edmonds to the list as well.
  7. Derek Lee, Juan Pierre and Aramis Ramirez if we suck. They are all free agents after this year I believe (Ramirez has that thing in his contract where he can choose to be a FA, right). I have every reason to think the Cubs will keep Aram and Lee from entering the market but until they sign them, I will be worried because the Cubs have alienated star players before and watched them go to other teams.
  8. I love watching Z show guys up after a big K, especially when they are Cardinals, and he bats too so if they can hit him if they dont like it. Z knows it too, but he also knows if you give him something to hit, he'll rope a double off your azz and smile. I can't wait for that first Edmonds-Z matchup.
  9. I love watching Z show guys up after a big K, especially when they are Cardinals.
  10. I would say the value scale goes something like this: Zambrano Prior Williams Rusch Maddux Wood
  11. Self destruct and put up a sub-3 era. Exactly. Maybe some people aren't very emotional or competitive but there is nothing wrong or unhealthy about how Zambrano pitches, and furthermore, if any of the other players on our team have a problem with it and their quality of play is directly effected by it, I'd like to seem them traded as soon as possible, regardless of who it is, Prior, Lee, Ramirez, etc. This is Carlos Zambrano's team and I love the fact that he plays with such passion on the mound, at bat and on the basepaths. The best part about it is that no matter what Z does or says, he backs it up every single time with results. Clemens has thrown sharp broken bats at other players on the field, intentionally hit batter upon batter and celebrated his success on the field just like Z does, except it just so happens that almost all of that stuff happened when Clemens was in the AL, so he's not much of a man. Clemens is constantly praised, Z is constantly criticized.
  12. I don't think we have any needs that can be filled by trading Williamson more than the relief spot he currently holds.
  13. Compared to Zambrano and Prior when healthy, Rusch does suck, however, I'm much rather have him than a second rookie in the rotation.
  14. Choi doesn't offer the flexibility of being able to play the OF and 3B. Personally, I'd rather have Choi and just put Perez at 3rd if we need someone. I'm sure he's better defensively than Mabry. I do like Mabry as a pinch hitter though, so I would propose we get a good CF when the roster cuts come, cut Grissom and use Hairston as the 5th OF. It's too late to do that now though.
  15. Maddux has said many times he doesn't want to coach when he is done and that he is not a good teacher.
  16. Wow, talk about pessimism. If Konerko gets injured, Buerhle's arm falls off, Posednik breaks his leg, Garland and Dye regress, Thome and Contreras realize how old they are, and Williams trades Garland and Garcia for Jeff Fassero, the White Sox could be in trouble too. I know this wasn't a White Sox post but half of those things are already happening.
  17. I think the only way the offense is weak is if Walker is traded and Cedeno and Murton are horrible and replaced with Neifi and Mabry/Grissom.
  18. Very nice on the avitar photo, very nice.
  19. A massive bust. And all because he decided he didn't need to be coached anymore. Good luck with the rest of your life, Corey. or maybe his coaches didn't do a good job. That question will be answered by his play with Baltimore.
  20. What? Cruz>Wellemeyer/Novoa Bobby Hill>Perez Choi>Mabry I'd take a healthy Novoa over Cruz, and I'd take Mabry over Choi. Novoa has more power and endurance, plus he's slightly younger. Cruz doesn't even have a defined position which hurts him IMO. Mabry over Choi is simply because of Mabry's versatility. I'd take Choi as a hitter, but since Mabry can play OF, 1b, and 3b he gets the overall nod. So I assume you would take Hill over Perez as well. Why not take Choi and Mabry and cut Grissom. When I was in ST, Grissom looked pretty bad in LF, I'm sure Mabry can at least match his OF play. I take Cruz over Wellemeyer and Novoa because he can start and that is exactly where I would put him once we need a 5th stater.
  21. Lee: 38 HRS 128 RBI .315/.410/.520 Carpenter: 18 GS 10-4 3.25 ERA
  22. What? Cruz>Wellemeyer/Novoa Bobby Hill>Perez Choi>Mabry
  23. We should be interested in Juan Cruz, and Bobby Hill and Hee Seop if they are all available for nothing at some point. Any of those guys would make this team.
  24. Don't forget what Soriano brings on the basepaths which is 30+ plus steals at 80% efficiency.
