  1. Nothing besides those from him, though. I'm assuming there will be a column this afternoon? Wonder if he apologizes and goes about his business normally or just doesn't say anything and mails it in until his contract is up next year?
  2. Hope you started Vereen like I did! Finally paid off for sticking with him all year.
  3. What goes around, comes around. Yeah, Emery was unbelievable that game. I remember watching the entire thing because I was in bed with the flu. Foley almost had a heart attack after some of the Emery saves.
  4. I'm heading to the Detroit Thanksgiving Day game. Ponied up for Club Seats ($220 on StubHub) to avoid some of the riff raff, but it's Detroit and people will have been drinking since the night before, so who knows? Thrilled that it's in a dome. I'm too old to be sitting through cold weather...
  5. I lost my fantasy game 98-97 because of that pick 6 while leaving T.Y. Hilton on the bench. hooray. Yeah, I lost because of the pick 6 by 2 points and in my other league because of the extra point after the pick 6, I lost by 0.5. That was awful.
  6. Ya, 4-4 at the bye is basically a must to have any playoff aspirations in the NFC.
  7. DJ Williams has been invisible this season. Hopefully the coaching staff notices as well.
  8. I think it was 8. I've seen 7 to 9 in various recaps. I wonder if Toilolo will be investigated for trying to shave points? He was awful yesterday.
  9. Man...there's nothing quite like a safety that's frequently concussed and with two bad shoulders. Can't beat it. He's played really well though. Seems like a good time to get him a couple weeks off. Can't keep letting him go out there and get hurt every week. Give him thru the bye week to heal up. Exactly. He's been by far the Bears best safety.
  10. Good thing they didn't risk injury and play for Team USA.
  11. Fair. But the Packers didn't run it well and neither did the Panthers and they both still beat the Bears. And, while the corners are the strength of the Bears, Nelson and Cobb destroyed them and Jones/White are as good, if not better. The Falcons D does suck and that's where the Bears have hope. I just don't trust the Bears to score 35 points to win a game right now. They can't stop turning the ball over.
  12. Steve Wyche said the exact opposite I don't know who Steve Wyche is, but apparently he didn't watch the Bears/Packers game. The only strong passing team we've played this year basically eviscerated the secondary.
  13. Falcons 37, Bears 24. This is going to be ugly for the defense. Atlanta's not a great team, but this is a horrible matchup for the Bears.
  14. Don't forget your jacket. Average March highs in Phoenix are in the 70s. =D> =D> =D>
  15. You lost me here. It's either a winner-take-all game or a sweep basically. 4-1 is stretching it, but I consider a 5 game victory in a 7 game series pretty dominant. There's never been a Cubs playoff series where they represented themselves well, but lost in non-heartbreaking fashion. They've either been dominated or pissed it away. So basically the Cubs haven't lost a 5 game series 3-1 or a 7 game series 4-2 in the 6 playoff series they've lost since 1945? Yes. They also haven't "forced" a game 5 or 7. They won a game 5 in ATL, but after losing game 4 at home. I'm convinced that's the only way they win anything--if they have to come back in a series, Red Sox style.

  17. that prompted me to check Football Outsider's rankings this week. Ugly... Bears 19th overall, 16th on offense, 14th on defense, 26th on special teams. Inexcusable on offense. Before the season, you tell anyone Bears are 14th in defense after 5 weeks, you're assuming, what, 4-1, maybe 5-0? And how does Joe DiCamillus still have a job? They seriously can't return a kick to the 20, let alone make a positive impact. What a disaster.
  18. It was the end of July and we basically [expletive] buried them. In the division, and it was glorious. However, they went on to win the Wild Card and win more playoff games (1) than the Cubs did (0). [expletive] me. I know we all know this, but I was thinking about today about how the four touchstone seasons for Cubs fans are an epic regular-season choke, two epic playoff chokes, and a playoff sweep. And the 6th (1998) is also a playoff sweep and the 7th (1989) is a 4-1 beatdown from the Giants. The Cubs have never lost a playoff series in relatively competitive fashion (4-2 or 3-1). It's either been a complete beatdown (3-0 or 4-1) or a backbreaker (3-2 or 4-3). Life sucks.
  19. There are few meaningless phrases in this game than "pure hitter". what i suspect they are referring to in this case, while trying not to knock bryant, is that he's considerably better at making contact, which he is. and he, too, appears to have absurd power. not as much as bryant, but he might actually be able to use it better at the MLB level. If Schwarber can play defense at catcher at replacement level and his bat profiles even close to Bryant's expected output, he would probably be one of the top 3 WAR catchers in baseball, probably #1 in his prime years. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=c&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=6&season=2014&month=0&season1=2014&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 That being said, I don't expect that to happen. If it does, though...

  21. And BABIP-monstering.
  22. Haha. Yep. Also, Bob Stoops has never lost back to back regular season games, so go ahead and throw OU in for the 3 team parlay.
  23. honestly though i keep wanting to try a bison dog and i can never find the right [expletive] concession stand for them and i'm not about to start walking from stand to stand to find the right one I thought they were only by the bleachers. that's stupid. stupid cubs. No, they have a cart on the upper deck patio as well as 1 or 2 carts on the 100 level.
  24. This and the Dolphins games are winnable and important. Would have been nice to be 3-2 and have this game be an "optional" win, but right now it's pretty important for multiple reasons, including possible tiebreaker for a wild card berth.
  25. Several counties in central Minnesota have the Oregon Ducks anywhere from 1-3. Any guesses as to why? (A real question, I have no idea).
