  1. Just booked a cheap hotel room for the weekend of 6/19-6/21 in Minneapolis. The Marriott City Center was only $129/night with no cancellation penalty until the day of. If you have any interest, might not be a bad idea. I'm excited!
  2. Also, if the Cards win the title (pretty much a guarantee at this point), that first game could be moved to Sunday night.
  3. How/why does baseball allow this to come out so shitty and piecemeal? The NFL, NHL, and NBA have these grand "schedule release days" that are excellent, but baseball let's screen shots and some [expletive] ticket sales person put theirs on the internet. Hopefully this is something that Manfred can fix.
  4. He is my RB1 in both of my leagues. I am now rooting for his immediate death. Looks like a lot of back and forth now, some saying he still might start. I would grab Dwyer if you haven't already. Out 4-6 weeks. I don't think Dwyer is any better than my current bench options, so, who should I start in PPR: Fred Jackson @ Bears Ryan Mathews @ Cardinals Steven Jackson vs. Saints Went with Ryan Mathews. I'm guaranteed to win the week thanks to Matt Ryan. Fred Jackson got ~11 points, Steven Jackson got ~6, so I'm assuming Mathews will at least be in that range. Still, F Andre Ellington.
  5. I'm VERY high on Vereen and think he's a must start. He could get 10 catches a few times this year.

  8. It's going around The shameless attempt to remain in the bottom 10 is much appreciated by me. Thanks, Theo!
  9. That's gotta favor the Ducks, right? Assuming that they don't just go 3 and out their first several series and lead to a tired defense.
  10. I'm impressed by the advancement of the UT-San Antonio football program. They weren't even a program 4 years ago and are now in CUSA, beat Houston 27-7 last week and should have beaten Arizona last night and got over 33,000 people in the building and into the game. Excellent job by the university administration and coach Larry Coker. They have a chance to win CUSA.
  11. Probably Thomas, though would consider Bell. I'd say Edelman. He's going to get 7-8 catches most games.
  12. That's incredible. Renteria said he wanted to keep playing last night. Likely that Renteria wants to keep his job, so they told him to go get checked out.
  13. And Trestman ok'd it. It's so weird. It's not something that's going to decide our season or anything, but...I'm not a fan. It's a non-story. Practice is every day, opening a restaurant happens once. It's not like he skipped practice to go eat at a restaurant. You sure about that? Looks like he's been eating a few more meals these days.
  14. Yes, heard the interview somehow. The "too right handed thing" gave me brief Hendry PTSD, but, other than that, great stuff. IF Schwarber can catch, better start saving for WS tickets.
  15. Pretty awesome that our lower level minors are all in the playoffs after all of the studs graduated. Organizational depth and future "waves" of prospects is awesome to have! Also, for as hot garbage as Zastryzny was earlier in the season, his overall body of work this year isn't terrible. Solid K rate, anyway.
  16. Can Logan Watkins be a serviceable 25th man long term?
  17. Worst show on radio. I think a large part of the ratings that they get is from people that listen for the fun bad factor. I'd like to transcribe one of their interviews with any of the 28 guests that they have on every one of their shows, just to show how ridiculous it is. Yeah, they are awful. The only reason they can compete is that they're going against Mike and Mike, who aren't actually that bad, but are so national in focus that you just don't care who they are talking to because it's always the top ESPN story being beaten into the ground repeatedly. If Mully/Hanley went head to head with, let's say Goff/Abbatacola or Holmes/Spiegel, they'd get murdered in the ratings.
  18. They're attempting to tank for a higher draft pick while maintaining the appearance of being nice guys. If you think the Cubs would have gone to these lengths on behalf of the Giants if the Cubs were 2 games out of the Wild Card, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not sure why that is your interpretation of what I was saying. What the hell? My point is I don't get why they are so openly supportive of the decision. Why say anything at all? Not directed to you, just a general comment. My thoughts are they are so vocal just to build some "goodwill" with the other teams, MLB, and the press. Not necessary and a bit over the top, but whatever.

  20. I checked 3 or 4 sites and it said that the NFC was the 2pm game. Last year the Niners/Seahawks were the late game, so I'm inclined to believe the sites I saw.
  21. Got tickets to the only 5pm Sunday start of the season (January 18 vs. the Stars). Sounded like a great idea for bringing very young kids that go to bed around 8, but just realized that could conflict with a possible 2pm NFC championship game for the Bears. Wonder if that actually happened if they would move the Hawks game back an hour or so? I hope this is something I have to worry about.
  22. And at a middle infield position with 6 years of team control, that is an EXTREMELY valuable asset.
  23. fascinating stat work. Bahahahaha. That was the best line of the whole "story".
  24. Yeah, it's weird that Law seems to be approaching this like, "ah-HAH!!! Hendricks probably won't be amazing long term, so therefore he will be NOTHING! MUAHAHAHHAAH!" Nu-Zach Duke would be fine by me. I don't think he thought he would be nothing, just that he's never going to be better and will settle in to normalness after, which is fine with me. Q: Are we currently seeing the limit of Kyle Hendricks? Could his intelligent approach and ability to mix in all of his pitches help his sustain his early success? Klaw (1:19 PM)This is it. Happens all the time. Remember Zach Duke's rookie year? 84 innings, 1.81 ERA, 3.00 FIP. Hasn't had a full-season ERA under 4 since.
  25. Grantland created a "Manager Meddling" Index to see how much a manager tries to influence a game. Read for the methodology, but Renteria ranks 3rd, which initially angered me, BUT after reading, he gets most of his points on: Challenges Used--which I'm OK with. Why not? There's no penalty for losing a challenge. This could be a Theo/Jed directive. 1 Batter Faced Pitcher Appearances--I'm less keen on this one, but it certainly beats ranking high on some of the other things (sac bunts, using a PH, IBB issued, Hits and Runs Called, pitching out, lineups used, and defensive substitutions). Overall, a good article: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/2014-mlb-managerial-meddling-index/
