  1. Tomorrow is going to be the longest day of work EVER. I just cannot wait for this game to start. Let's go Cubs, shut 'em down Z!
  2. I just hope the Cubs don't get down 2-1 in the series, because Marquis likely would start a game 4, and with the way he's been pitching, that wouldn't inspire much confidence. And contrary to most of the board, I feel much better about game 1 than game 2. Doug Davis has absolutely owned us, and the D-Backs have a 28-17 record against left handed starters. I say Cubs in 5 though.
  3. Is it on the Cubs' broadcast or the Reds'? You can see it better on the Reds'. I just saw the Sportscenter highlight using CSN's broadcast and they didn't zoom in as far. I put my hands up because I was celebrating the homer, then the ball bounced into my row so I made a reach for it. You can see me if you're looking for the tall guy with blue sleeves. :D THE CUBS WON THE SOAP DROPPING NL CENTRAL DIVISION :) Haha, when I first saw the highlight, you were the first person I noticed...hands up celebrating, and then into the pile realizing you had a chance for the ball. Good stuff
  4. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/the_bonus/09/18/coolbaugh0924/index.html Great, great story about Coolbaugh's life and the foul ball that struck and killed him. Not sure if this was ever posted or not, but the story came out about a week ago.
  5. Remember when we beat Woody Williams twice in ONE series? Yea, it would be nice to just beat him once this year. He's owned us. Anyway, I think Trachsel pitches well enough to win and Alfonso has a monster game. Cubs win 9-3.
  6. Boy, I really think we're going to hate him more than Edmonds by the time his career is over. The Astros should have drilled him in the ribs the next time he came up after his 43 second walk to 1st base.
  7. And the rest of the game thread rejoices!
  8. Hpw can you say they are still brutal? Most teams would look bad if you took their top quarterback away. Just frustrated at how this game has turned out so far. Freaking fumbles are just so aggravating, especially at the goal line and then returning a kickoff with under 20 seconds left.
  9. Well, Illinois is still brutal, and Notre Dame is down 16 now. This day of college football would be ruined if not for Appalacian St.
  10. Hopefully, they can get this game finished before Alfonso Soriano(NSBB Poster) gets out of school.
  11. I've never understood that. Why tell a pitcher to throw at full strength just to throw the ball OUT of the strikezone? Especially, when the result is extremely likely to have the same result. Hitters know when they are being pitched around. I don't think it's as reasonable as you think that he swings at a bad ball he knows is coming. Better off just having the pitcher throw 4 warmup tosses to the catcher and putting him on intentionally. You are counting on way too many things to happen with a pitch around. Counting on a bad defensive catcher blocking pitches in the dirt. Counting on that if Fielder swings at 1 bad pitch he hits it directly to a fielder that can record and out. Or counting on him swinging at 3 bad pitches for the strikeout. I don't remember who it was against, but last week the team playing the Brewers were UI IBBing Fielder and he expanded the zone rolled over a ball that was outside into an easy Pierre to end the game. It has its merits, but I'd rather do it with a pitcher with better control than Dempster. And yeah, my bad on the DP thing, I don't know what I was thinking. Yea, that was last week against the Reds and David Weathers. It was actually 1st and 2nd with the winning run at 1st. Braun was on deck. Looking at gameday, all 5 pitches were outisde of the strike zone.
  12. lol are you kidding me? What? Haven't you watch D. Lee since the all-star break? A pathetic excuse for a supposed leader with his hitting. Yea just like him being the worst hitter with RISP like you said earlier right? Hes got an OPS over .950 since the break, anything else you want to say that isnt true? You have to remember everything that Synergy says is coming out of his ass. Just take a look at all 156 of his posts.
  13. What a freaking embarrassment. The Cardinals are going to win this division by 5 games. God I hate the Cubs.
  14. Man, that really sucks. She got the vote because she's old and could probably die at any moment. As far as cub fandom goes, Vance has her beat by leaps and bounds. I'd be willing to bet she couldn't name more than a few current players. Just from my experience with old "diehard" cubs fans, thats the case. Oh well, it was a good shot, Vance.
  15. Way to show up, Z. Oh well, at least Harang shutting us down was expected.
  16. My god, the Rockies are going to kill us this weekend. I'd kill for a split.
  17. Check out young Prince and Dad, Cecil in this early 90's McDonald's commercial. http://fynalcut.wordpress.com/2007/08/07/cecil-must-not-have-picked-up-the-tab/
  18. What has Howry done wrong? i think synergy slept through the past two months He's been sleeping since June 3rd. The only time he shows up is when the Cubs have a stinker of a game, then he comes here and starts talking about DFA'ing everyone. I'm pretty sure he wanted Zambrano and Lee DFA'ed earlier this year too. He can't be more than 12 or 13 years old.
  19. And nice job by the other idiots on the crew to give him some help. Unbelieveable.
  20. In 2003, they went 19-7 in September, but other than that, I couldn't pick out a hotter streak. Maybe 2001, when there was that 12 game winning streak and then 16 of 18.
  21. If the Cubs hang on and win this one, they are 19-5 since Aramis returned from the DL on June 22nd.
  22. Ted Lilly won his 10th game of the season today. Without looking it up, can anyone name the last Cub left hander to win 10 games in a season?
  23. Who remembers that game last year where Jason Kendall was the winning run on 3rd base and K-Rod dropped a throw back from the catcher, and Kendall scored the winning run? I definitely think that is the reason we got him. His ability to make a pitcher drop throws back from the catcher, intangibles baby.
  24. I'll call it right now. Jacque and Ward both hit HR's and the Cubs win 7-3.
  25. Gee I don't know, maybe his .390 average, 17 doubles and 1.016 OPS, and his gold glove defense, but that's about it.
