  1. Is that what instilled all that narcissistic sarcasm in you? :P
  2. And the burnout rate for pitchers was a lot higher "back in the day." Is it true that organizations may have gone overboard in "babying" pitchers? Sure. There are quite a few pitchers who can easily surpass the arbitrary 100 pitch mark without significantly increased injury risk. Young pitchers with an already huge jump in their workload though? Come on. There's truth to both sides of the argument here. I just don't see any reason to shut down Wells at this point, in this context.
  3. I'll go with this answer.
  4. So with that logic we just bench the entire team I guess? Nice.
  5. ^^ Two thumbs down to everyone that expects and anticipates injuries, just because it's a young pitcher/player.
  6. why are the cubs playing some of their best baseball all season now?
  7. literally zero reason to have him continue pitching this year if there's even a small sign of inflammation. great year angel, hopefully we'll see you lock down the setup role in ST next season.
  8. I really don't even have an opinion on this, I mean what's the point?
  9. so how did bradley get through an entire year with texas unscathed?
  10. [expletive] no. we're stuck with what we have. and besides, the massive fear that we'll actually win the second you "switch"....that will keep you here forever.
  11. ok, now that I agree with. regression maybe, but I certainly don't think "he'll suck". he's shown quite a bit of poise on the mound this year. I'm just trying to find some positives on the team this year man :\
  12. I like that you type this after today, and have previously said nothing like this.
  13. we didn't have aaron miles in 2005
  14. he's got 101 rbi's in 485 ab's currently...last time he had 100+ rbi's in a season was 2005, with 107, and that took him 594 ab's.
  15. The field position is a good point. Hopefully our defense can continue the bend and don't break motto, while collecting a lot of turnovers. That'd definitely help Cutler out a lot. Is it odd to foresee our linebackers getting more picks/FF's than our secondary though? And to join the party..... Bears 20 | Packers 16
  16. Bears are a 4 point dog right now with an O/U of 46.
  17. You don't have to have the inflection of me being stupid because I don't appreciate his value or something. It's a valid concern. I'm worried by how Broncos fans view him. Obviously they're biased, but they sure as [expletive] don't look at him as a clutch performer. And like I said, even if he is a savior, man our receivers suck. I mean you can put every pass right between the numbers of say, rashied davis, and he's still dropping half of them. And on top of all this, can our defense actually get off the field?
  18. Yea, there's no pressing reason to trade him -- but like I said, if some team comes along and makes an offer (like vazquez and escobar), do you take it, assuming he waives his ntc?
  19. Reyes is owed 9M for next year, then a club option for 11M in 2011 (.5M buyout). I don't personally think he's going to be worth 9.5M next year, or 20M for the next two years. That's only due to his injuries though. FWIW, FanGraphs has his assumed value at 21M in 07 (2.9 paid), and 26.4M in 08 (4.4 paid). So no matter what the Mets do, they've already got their moneys worth (and way more) for him.
  20. I'm so nervous for this game. Am I the only one not confident about the team this year? 1) Is Cutler so good that he can overcome the total fail of our receiving corps? 2) Can our front four put enough pressure on the opposing QB to effectively run the Cover 2? 3) Can our secondary stop elite receivers? Right now I say no to all three, which severely worries me. I only feel confident about two things currently...Forte running behind this O-Line, and our LB corps.
  21. I hate him as an opponent, but I'd most likely love him as a Cub.
  22. I trade Zambrano the second I get a decent return. So sick of his overrated [expletive]. Give me five Lilly's. This depends on if Harden's coming back or not. Going down two starters probably isn't a good idea unless you're getting one back for Z. Would you guys trade, say, Zambrano for Vazquez and Y. Escobar?
  23. I don't understand why you're asking how he's consistent. He's healthy. I'm not saying he's good, I'm saying you can easily guess what you're going to get out of him next year. Can you say that for Soto, Soriano, Bradley, hell, the entire offense? I just leave him alone. He's not the problem with the team. And you're really going to try and tell me the bullpen couldn't use some help? What do you expect from Dempster and Z next year? Do you trust Harden? Is he even a Cub next year? Do you think Wells can match his success from this year? Is it even possible to have too much pitching? And why are you so angry?
  24. Yea I mean don't get me wrong, I don't think Theriot is an exceptional SS or anything....but why people are looking at him to upgrade is just baffling to me. I understand there's (very) limited positions to look to upgrade at, but that doesn't mean you diminish the value of Theriot in the process. I'd rather the Cubs focus on getting people HEALTHY, and if you trade anyone for anything, it's for pitching. And whoever recommended trading Lilly and Theriot as a package is freaking insane. If you look up lack of consistency in the dictionary, there's the 2009 cubs. And you want to trade our two most consistent players? Including our most consistent pitcher!? ughhhhhhh
