  2. How would PED's improve his speed? Wouldn't they just reduce the recovery time between races/training? I mean the base line talent is already there.
  3. I just...I dont...ugh. It doesn't matter. Math doesn't matter. They're a better team. We could have six games with them left and I'd feel the same way.
  4. It's the Cardinals division to lose right now. Sorry, but it is. They decide more than us if we win the division.
  5. Could you guys be any more black and white? There's millions of contextual situations in baseball. You can't just say "bunting is stupid."
  6. You make some good excuses, but they're just that, excuses. This team dominates its' division in payroll. There's no excuse. That doesn't mean I want to can Piniella, but don't make excuses for them. And don't make excuses for Hendry.
  7. Half their lineup is just bad. Cedeno, Vazquez, Cruz, and the pitchers spot? Wow. At least they have Cutch until he's traded to us.
  8. The thing is, he'd never do that [expletive] on the street. Victorino would pound him into the ground. If you threw the cup, man up and say, "hey, I hate your guts, so I threw a beer on you." At least you're being an honest jerk, instead of this clown who lets his friend take the rap. That's even worse!! Also CSN had a poll the night when it happened - "Would you turn someone into security that you saw throwing a beer?" Like 67% said yes. So 67% of you are hypocritical douchebags, and liars. You may disagree with it, but it's not like you're going to be this manly man and through all adversity, find a security guard to rat someone out to. No, you're going to sit there, stunned, and giggle into your hands about what you just witnessed.
  9. Vick to the Eagles. ESPN.
  10. I'm 110% on board with this. Man that'd be awesome.
  11. If the 2006 hall can exist, can't the 2008 miles? just sayin.
  12. Have to say, I saw this coming. They HAVE to do something. They're arguably the most talented team in the division (even beating us out for that title). Escobar should be fun to watch. Plus they're giving a new coach a chance to work on that starting five.
  13. Thanks to an unsustainable defensive rating. 9 runs above average, and 24 above average in 07 and 08. So yea. But not ALL his value is defensive. It just contributes more than most to his expected value. I dunno, I'm a fan of this move. Thome, Dye, Quentin, Podsednik...one if not all are unsustainable. I like the Rios acquisition for the long haul, not for an attempted playoff run this year, although it should help there too.
  14. year / $$ worth / $$ paid 2006 / 12.1M / .4M 2007 / 18.9M / 2.5M 2008 / 24.6M / 4.8M 2009 / 4.9M / -- He's been worth well above his contract. Last year he was worth 54.8 runs over a replacement. And yes, Kenny Williams has a giant set of stones. At least the Sox like, do stuff.
  15. Things aren't great when there are posts on Brewerfan.net like, "Hey, Vicente Padilla was DFA'd! He'd be a great addition to the team!" The pitching is on pace to challenge the single season record for home runs allowed, Braun had a pretty bad July until that final week, the bullpen's been overworked from all the short starts, and they're getting absolutely nothing from their bench. Miraculously, they still have an outside chance at a playoff spot because they play in a division that no one wants to win, which leads to Doug Melvin making trades for Dave Weathers and Felipe Lopez when the team doesn't realistically have a chance. It reminds me of the 2008 Astros dealing for Randy Wolf thinking they had a chance at the playoffs, but everyone laughed at Ed Wade instead. I'm about ready to call it a season, but there's a part of me still clinging onto that weak schedule to finish August and the slew of head-to-head games in September. Part of me wishes the Brewers were far enough out of it at the deadline to explore trading the likes of Mike Cameron and Trevor Hoffman, who probably would've gotten decent returns in trades. I know Braun and Fielder are going about it the wrong way. But come on, it's no coincidence that the two guys lashing out are the two guys putting up the best numbers/are the most frustrated. This is a winning team with better pitching.
  16. wait, what? when did I say that? http://northsidebaseball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=51922&start=125#p2014920 is memory something you can flick on and off actually, it is. and what's your point? you can remember stuff from november? I meant it then and I meant it now. I'm no saint, you're the one bringing that up in this thread.
  17. So when do these games against teams ahead of us start becoming "must-win"? We've got to be close to that threshold by now.
  18. Remember when he buzzed Bonds? Bonds starts walking out to the mound, doing the Im a big tough guy routine, and Prior looks at him, smirks, and makes a "come and get it" hand motion to Barry. I loved Prior ever since that. the guy was such a gamer. and btw, NONE of us would of made that tejada deal at the time.
  19. ugh, he's right. he really is. don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of braun like anyone else here. but he's right. every day I look at box scores and wonder how the brewers keep managing to lose. know how? macha having zero control over the team, and crappy pitching. he's just frustrated. and he has the numbers to mostly back it up, too.
