  1. I really hope the casual fans boo him for being a hated rival and the more knowledgeable fans boo him for being old and crappy. I want this guy boo'ed out of the city.
  2. Dude, if you have the choice between someone whose proven they suck and someone who might suck...you gotta go with the proven vet. No need to take those chances.
  3. Pie strikes out 1/3 of his AB's. The point is Pie needs to play everyday, he wont be able to up here. So there was nothing logical that brought you to the conclusion that Edmonds is better than Pie...That's pretty much what I assumed, thnx.
  4. Pie needs AB's that he will not get up here. Edmonds is very low risk mediocre reward. I hate the guy but he is better than Pie right now. Pie can come back up in September. I would love to see how you concluded that Edmonds is better than Pie right now.
  5. There was that picture where he looked like Count Chocula. Count Chocula is based on Dracula. Dracula porks chicks all the time. Mark Prior must be a good looking man.
  6. Maybe the worst 1st post ever. But anyway, there is not one single aspect of this that is in any way a good idea. I may need to make the trip to Chicago sometime soon just so I can boo the crap out of him. This is absolutely terrible.
  7. Great, now Eyre's going to get the Rich Hill treatment.
  8. The current Cubs are doing everything they can to reduce the sting of this Edmonds crap....but it's not going away.
  9. Yeah, where's whats-his-face with his awesome comments now?
  10. huh? They are horrible at scoring runs and this should be an easy win...what in the world is your point? That because we're losing right now that everyone who said this should be an easy win doesn't know what they're talking about?
  11. Its crap like this that explains why the Cubs can't develop good players....and why we have a high payroll with nothing to show for it.
  12. You know who I would prefer vs. righties....FELIX FRIGGIN PIE!!! Can Cuban have the team now?
  13. If you get cut by the worst offense in the league, you have a home on the Cubs. In what way is he an improvement over Pie? I'm having trouble thinking of a stupider move ever.
  14. No....no....that's just.....please no.....why....so stupid.
  15. The Mavs trade was essentially Devin Harris and two #1 picks for Kidd. It was a high-risk, "win now" deal that so far has turned out very poorly for Dallas, and leaves them with 1 more year of a former allstar (Kidd) instead of 4 years of a possible future allstar (Harris), plus the draft picks. Find some other names to plug into a Cubs scenario if you don't like Hill and prospects for Randy Johnson. Maybe the same deal for, say, the 2004 or 2005 vintage Randy Johnson works better. At that time Johnson was still pitching at an elite level, but was clearly on the downside. That's basically Kidd now. Devin Harris and 2 #1 picks...that is pretty bad. Your scenario with 2004 Randy Johnson seems like a pretty decent comparison
  16. No, that can't be it, that would mean he was thinking and if you new this kid nobody has ever accused him of thinking Oh ya, he plays the offensive line in football, should explain thing I think the pot is calling the kettle a lot of thing. fixed
  17. I think it's pretty reasonable to ding Cuban and the Mavs for their long-term vs. short-term decisionmaking in light of the Jason Kidd trade. That'd be the equivalent of the Cubs trading Rich Hill and prospects for someone like Randy Johnson. Hill is already significantly better than Johnson at this point. I'm not very familiar with the Kidd trade, but I have a hard time believing it would be as bad as Hill and prospects for Johnson.
  18. You have to figure that at least some of the wildness and the mounting problems in the fifth came from his youth. He's 22 and has barely ever started in the majors (is this his first?), you have to know the adrenaline is pumping and that accounts for at least some of the struggles. Not excusing the final numbers, but if this is as bad as he'll get, I'm excited for the future. Yes, this was his first big league start. Thanks Raisin. I was thinking it was, but wasn't sure at all. Hello everybody, just wanted to add that I thought Sean did a good job today considering the circumstances of getting the nod an hour before game time. I was getting ready to head out to take care of a few errands until I got a call from Sean's agent telling me the good news. You could see in the first inning that he was pumped up and as I have told him since "little league" that walks kill you. I didn't know where that ball was going in the first inning as it started towards center and ended up in right center. I would have to say that with all things considered and some folks are going to say that this wasn't a good outing but I have to disagree. Sean has been used primarily out of the pen and thats hard on somebody who has been a starter his entire career. I heard Len mention that during the broadcast that in the 15 innings he has come out of the pen he has struck out seven. In todays game alone he struck out six in four innings and in the 5th you could tell he was running out of gas as he was leaving pitches up and missing spots. I had a brief chat with Sean after the game as he was "big leagueing" me with all the phone calls he was getting. The first thing he said to me was that it was great that the Cubs won!!! He also said that he was nervous the entire first inning and didn't settle down until the second. Sean said that he made mistakes with some pitches and that he was overall pleased with his outing. If true that Sean will get another shot I see him being more comfortable as he will throw a bullpen before his next start and hopefully Dad will be there to watch......... :yahoo: Don't worry, the people that say it was a bad outing don't know much about baseball. It wasn't mind blowing, but I was really impressed. I'd have to guess that he'll only get better. Congratulations!
  19. Um, context? Sean hasn't started a game in like 2 weeks. He was money through 4, that's all you should really expect in that situation. A 22 year old making a last minute start as his first major league start against the #2 run scoring team in the league, that hasn't started in a couple weeks should do better than that. Sure, his last 2 earned runs were walked in by Chad Fox, but still. There's absolutely no excuse for him not to get a complete game shut out.
  20. Just like we easily shouldve taken 2/3 or swept Wash? Yes, exactly like that. Hopefully we actually do it this time.
  21. I would guess skipped for sure, as we have had 2 rotational "off days" with the day off Thursday, and today with Gallagher. I'm guessing the matchups will be: Zambrano vs. Wolf Marquis vs. Estes (yay, the game I'm going to....) Lilly vs. Peavy Dempster vs. Maddux WGN today had Lilly pitching Wednesday, ESPN has him going Thursday Shoot, if good Lilly sticks around, we might be going for 7 straight. But if Cobs come back, who knows.
  22. Has there been any word on what we're going to do with the rotation? Zambrano will go tomorrow, but are we going to skip Marquis or Lieber? Either way, with us facing Wolf, Estes, Peavy, and Maddux, and the Padres struggling like they are, we should easily be able to take 3/4.
  23. Yes, that's very stupid.
  24. Categories used to pick the starter: Hitting better this year: Cedeno Defense: Cedeno Baserunning: Cedeno Past Performance: Neither Potential/Age: Cedeno Am I forgetting anything?
  25. Cards will win 5 games in the series.
