  1. God only knows. Maybe they'll flip him. I think that they think they will be able to get back in this thing. They have the last few years anyways. Houston has never been one of the smartest cities in the US. However to their credit they have do have one of the largest stripper populations in the United States :-). They have some of the best Gentleman's Clubs in the nation. Treasures is truly an awesome place. If Vance knows anything about anything, this is the subject. :P One of the few subjects worth studying too ;-).
  2. Probably not, since most foreign leagues will be in full swing during that time frame. That's why the World Cup, Gold Cup, Euro '08, etc. are all in the summer. I was more referring to any cups next summer or any meaningful qualifying games before world cup qualifying starts in a year. one calendar year of friendlies seems pointless, space out the world cup and gold cup a bit more. Well, we've got the Confederations Cup in '09, but I think it'd be hard to have a real competitive tournament in '08. We'd only be a year removed from having the Gold Cup and Copa America against the entire western hemisphere, and Euro '08 knocks out most everyone else save the likes of Australia, Korea, or Japan. But it opens the door for the US to play maybe 3 friendlies over in Europe to help them prep before the Euro Championships. Something I think the US needs to do a whole lot more of.

  4. I don't think Tex. gets traded, and I would not want to pay him more than Soriano which is what the initial reports have him getting come this offseason.

  6. I've never been clear about if his appearance against Canada in early 2006 counted as a cap. Adu himself has always said his first choice is to play for the US, but would consider playing for Ghana. I'd feel a lot better if he got capped for the 8/22 game against Sweden. I'm sure if the U-20 WC hadn't been upcoming, Adu would have been on the Copa America roster. Without question this needs to get done ASAP. With his success at the U-20 level and going through the entire youth system I am really not worried, however just get it done. Besides I would much rather watch him and Altidore playing than Twellman and Ching. They need to be capped and begin playing before the 1st round of Concacaf qualifing ever happens next year.
  7. Upton for Dunn would be a horrible deal for the D-Backs. I would actually ask Cinci for more, I don't care that Dunn is proven.
  8. Time to start planning a trip to Houston September 11th-13th. Anyone else going. Its Houston so getting tickets won't be a problem ;-). Plus probably more Cubs fan's than Astro's fans will be there come September :-).
  9. I didn't even know Payton was still playing. Murton is better than Payton.
  10. I totally agree. All of the talk about Dunn is ridiculous, Griffey is the answer. Of course everything depends on what they want for him. I almost wonder if the Reds don't care about trading Griffey now and will just wait until the offseason and let him get 600 in a Reds uni.
  11. Its an oman for something. I just don't know what and if its good or bad?
  12. 1.07 whip is just crazy, especially for a cub pitcher.
  13. Who is doing tonights game for ESPN?
  14. Very nice for Zizzo.
  15. no way. i'd rather ride him to the playoffs and risk losing him than trade him and miss the playoffs entirely It's a hard proposition either way you slice it. If in the end he's going to be gone, I'd rather trade him and get high value for him right now. The problem is, no one is going to trade for him when you can sign him in the offseason right? Also, I doubt highly they'd trade their ace when in a division race in a winable division. I hate to think Z will be gone, but can we compete on the open FA market with LA, NY, Boston, whoever, if we do have an owner? At least they are all in the AL.
  16. Gallardo has a ton of talent, but just for this year I think I like Rich Hill better. He's got a little more major league experience and is a little more proven than Gallardo at this level. I realize there's a general distaste for the term "proven veterans" here, but the fact that he's had success over an extended period of time makes me more comfortable with him than Gallardo right now. Hill is also going to hit the 200 innings mark.

  18. I've been talking about the #3 starter for a while now, and no way would I do that. The biggest strength our #3 start has is a deep bullpen right now.
  19. To have a 3rd starter that is far superior to their #3 starter though would be huge. If its a coin toss though, who knows.
  20. Pence out 4-6 weeks, you still want to predict 1/3? 0/3, we get swept. We just need to beat the crap out of Wandy cause he has a stupid name.
  21. Good question. I'd try, but have no idea where to start. :D Research past playoff history on MLB.com. Look at game 3's for the past 5 years, and let us know what % of those who won game 3 won the series ;-).
  22. anyone want to research the importance of Game 3 in the playoffs towards winning the series? I'm curious just not up for the work :-).
  23. I had been going after Butler and Gordon for a while. Actually prefer Butler, just doesn't play a premier position like 3rd base.
  24. Can you ask Pujlos for his real birth certificate while your their?
