    Personally I don't think he needs to work on a changeup. His curveball already sits in the low to mid 70's. I would like to see something around a cutter.

    Here are the highlights with commentary. Zizzo seems to be the one orchastrating everything. I'm still excited about the match and getting to watch the Brazil game on Friday.

    I'm sorry but Hendry deserves more credit than this. Plus its pretty clear they want someone with defensive abilites over offensive.

    Bowen is not going down, and Hill has been Zambrano's partner in his recent surge. That is the only reason I can really think of.

    Give Mark Grace a call, I am thinking he has an out clause to go to the Cubs. Or Bill Murray to fill out the rest of the year ;-). Then he can talk about his desire to buy the team.

    Perhaps that's true. But that doesn't make it the optimal lineup configuration. Soriano - Dunn - Lee - Ramirez - Floyd would probably be the best way to order the top half of a lineup with Dunn added. Do you have Soriano playing CF?

    My fear with that is having Aramis lead off the inning more often with that. If we have runners one 1st and 3rd with one out a strike out or a double play are the most likely scenario. OPS is nice, but its masked by his raw power. His ba drops by over 30 points with runners on base. If Soriano continues to hit, Dunn will see his BA increase the most hitting infront of Lee and Aramis. Imagine if he can actually hit .300. His obp will be around .400. Its a small sample size, but Dunn actually his .308 the last 3 years hitting #2.

    People look at the 40 HRs and the power-hitter body and automatically assume Dunn's a middle-of-the-order run producer. He's not. He doesn't put the ball in play nearly enough to drive in the guys on base ahead of him with any sort of consistency. I recently came across a stat called OBI (and OBI%). OBI (Others Batted In) = runs batted in, except for the batter driving himself in via a home run. Equal to RBI-HR. OBI% = the fraction of runners on base who were driven in during a batter's plate appearances. Baseball's elite run producers show OBI%s of around 20%. Numbers in the high teens are good; mid-teens are decent; low teens are below average. Dunn was at 12.7% in 2006 (good for #208 of 256 guys w/ 300+ PAs), and 13.5% in 2005 (187th of 275). Needless to say, that's not the sort of production you want out of your #3/4/5 hitters. Thank You :-)

    Why? That's a disappointment waiting to happen I would rather add someone to hit behind Ramirez, where Dunn should be used as a #2 hitter. Griffey would be a better hitter behind Aramis, so thats who I would rather have. In what world should a guy who hits 40 homers every year and can't do anything a number two hitter is supposed to do hit second instead of fourth? In the world of .377 career OBPs. I actually like Dunn hitting 3rd though. The same guy who will drive in very few runs not via the HR. His hr production will not drop hitting 2nd and his OBP is far more valuable than having him strike out with runners on base. Dunn should be used for scoring runs more so than driving in runs.

    Landon Donovan had similar expectations at the same age. For the most part he has done well, and I don't think he has lived up to the expectations he had. For Adu it is time for him to go over to Europe. I think it is important for the US to realize he is probably 8 years away from peaking.

    He was hurt a month ago. He (as far as I know) is fine now. I too am counting until the days soto is called up. Seriously, what do we have to do to get him up. I think Bowen is going to be a solid backup, and Koyie Hill would probably be too. We just don't need two backups at catcher.

    That was maybe was of ther best goals I have ever seen from anyone where a US jersey. Watch ESPN's top plays tonight, it better be #1. Simply amazing!!! That was the best I have seen any US team play at that level ever. I am truely amazed at the quailty of the goals they put up. Can't wait for the Brazil matchup now. Even though the US leads the group, they could still not make the next round with a loss to Brazil.

    Wolf, was the game on TV? If so, what channel and when is the next U-20 game? Its on ESPN U, so I haven't been able to watch any as I have to go to a bar and I have had to work. Fifa.com has had highlights of every game, I'll check to see if they are up yet. This is the kind of performance at a championship level I have been waiting to see for some time. 6-1 at any youth world cup his huge, especially when our top players are the ones performing.

    Could this be step one towards rebuilding that organization. I want Griffey! If Griffey was traded to the Cubs this week, would the NL have to drop a player from the all-star team in order to take a Red currently on the team?
