  1. To be fair Wright generally plays gold glove calibre defense and Aramis and Cabrera are below average. I think picking any 2 of those 3 is fine and the 3rd is a snub to make room for the dumb nat player. Same with the SS's, a very strong argument can be made for Renteria and Rollins being as valuable as Hardy. Another argument can be made for Ramirez being as valuable as Reyes and more valuable than Hardy. False. Aram has been anything but below average on defense this year. Agreed he has improved more than any 3rd baseman over the past 3 years.
  2. I blame Washington for sucking so bad and only having Dimitri Young to send. That took away the third 3rd baseman from the NL.
  3. That was one thing that really standed out. I love when players show their emotions on the field. As long as they can cantrol it. agreed, I liked it. need some swagger out of the pen.
  4. Closer this year or next, he has injected life into the bullpen and helped to setup the rest of the guys. He has been awesome so far.
  5. As much crap as Hendry gets his signing has been very important this year. Seems like a great clubhouse guy too.
  6. He says he lost the passion for the game. Must have some personal issues going on in his life as great as he has them playing for what we expected. Probably front runner for manager of the year in the AL
  7. Thats nice to know, but too bad most of that is from his unbelievable start. 2 of his last 3 outings hes been terrible, no ifs ands or buts about it. I hope its just a bump in the road, and we will soon find out. Zambrano's first 6 starts were horrible. What have you done for me lately syndrome seems to be in full gear. I am thinking a slight break for the all-star game will be very good for Rich. He still has work to do mentally IMO.
  8. The U-20's tied Korea today 1-1 with Stezla getting the 1st goal of the match. It sounded like the US was on the defensive for much of the match as well. In their group they play Poland next who took down Brazil 1-0 in the other group game today.
  9. How about a thread with video clips of the greatest sports calls ever? Could turn it into a poll as well.
  10. and Eric Young is an idiot. Bring back Harold Reynolds!!!
  11. I'm actually looking forward to watching Baseball Tonight now :-)
  12. Thanks. I actually missed the game. Now I can watch it. So did I, actually I saw the 1st 3 innings and had to go back to work. I was hoping for a major comeback, but was not expecting it :-)
  13. They seriously need to put at least a web cam on Santo at all times in the booth. I would love to see his reaction with his voice.
  14. is mlbtv working for everyone right now, they had the entire game up and I don't have a subscription.
  15. If your the manager of the NL though you could change things up a little. The AL has won 9 of 10 with the other one being a tie. Being that the game actually means something in terms of home field advantage, Larussa could take his best pitchers right now to give the NL the best chance to win.
  16. Did Brazil bring their A team? I only watched for about 10 minutes but I didn't see Kaka or Ronaldinho out there. And did Mexico bring their A team? I thought they did, guess not.
  17. Mexico beat Brazil tonight 2-0 for the 1st shocker of the Copa America. Still don't think we have a shot tom, I'll be happy if they can score once.
  18. Too bad Howard didnt start his career till he was 25. Yeah, you're better off hoping for Pujols (as a second guy along with ARod) to break it. EDIT: Holy crap, Howard is actually older than Pujols. Granted, it's only two months, but still. I knew Howard was old but I figured Pujols had a year or two on him. He probably has 5-7 years on Howard, we just don't truthfully know about it yet ;-).
  19. Maybe the reason "puff pieces" are written about Ryno is because there is not a lot of bad things that can be said about him (other than the delusional rantings of Cubette of course). He wasn't a selfish player, his teammates loved him, his opponents admired him, his players respect him and he was never suspected of using steroids. Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes. Actually, to be truthful, Ryno isn't exactly the friendliest person in the world. He was nothign but friendly and very accomodating when I met him and got him to sign a jersey and his book. Appeared very personable and friendly. JMO I met him several times got many of his autographs in person, and he was very friendly every single time. He never didn't have a smile on his face when I saw him. He might not have been as great of a person as Shawon Dunston was to meet, but he was never the $#%&@ that Hector Villenueva was.
  20. I think I should get extra points for Ryan Howard hitting a 505 foot hr.
  21. Thats great, Beckham having to tie Reggie Bush's shoes for him :-).
  22. Man pretty soon it will be time to Contract the O's. I wonder if they will trade us Markakis since he is not a vet if Baylor gets the job.
