  1. Detwiler makes the last out and the ball goes straight into his back pocket.
  2. Georgia gets the 1st two guys on in the bottom of the 9th down 5 runs. Results in a pitching change now for Fresno State.
  3. A. Its not like Roberts was opposed to the deal. I dont see where your going here. B. Mediocre at best Exactly Roberts always had nice things to say, and seemed excited about the whole deal.
  4. I agree about Tech. They're going to be good enough to beat anyone on any day, but I haven't seen anything from them that would lead me to believe they can play defense consistently enough to challenge for the Conference title(of course, you could've said the same thing about Mizzou before last season). As far as Mizzou goes, they don't draw the toughest part of the south(Texas, Baylor, OSU), but they still have 3 non-home games against ranked teams(@Texas, Kansas and Illinois at neutral sites), plus they haven't won in Lincoln since we landed on the moon or something. They've still got to be favorites for the North though, as they didn't lose much from the best team last year, and their best competition both have rough schedules(KU plays Texas, OU, and Texas Tech; Colorado has a brutal non-con, and has to travel to KU and Mizzou). I kind of disagree on Tech simply because I think one of these years they are going to put it all together for a good period during the season. They always have that one great game every year, just a matter of doing it for an extended period of time. They should be better than last season. If they can even win the South though, that will be tough enough for them. I don't know if I really see two teams from the South making BCS games this year with Mizzou on the other side.
  5. Thats just a funny name, sounds like a nickname a guy would give his unit.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=3458435 Early bowl predictions. 2 Big 10, Big 12, ACC, and SEC teams in BCS games.
  7. Their offense sucks and Hafner may be toast. I think the question is, would the Indians rather have Prince knowing they will have to pay him. They could tell the Brewers no and say they want Laporta. Being Sheets will leave, they have the money for Prince, I just don't know if they want to pay him. I don't see the Brewers giving up the farm for a 3 month rental. Steve Phillips weighs in: CC in Philly would be pretty scary. That said I have no clue about the Phillies system and what they have to give up.
  8. And to think had they not given up 4 in the bottom of the 8th in Game 1 they could already be national champions. Tonights game should be fun.

  10. I almost wonder if CC will wait till after he signs to sort of set the market value for him. Thats assuming he stays healthy. He just comes across to me as someone who would like to be close to home, thats another reason I put the Rangers in there.
  11. Don't count out the Rangers either. Nolan Ryan will make a big play for a pitcher this winter I believe.
  12. Chipper is HOF, the only question is he a first vote or second vote. The fact that Aramis is 4th in all of baseball in RBI's since 2003 says a whole lot, considering who little publicity he gets. You can put Longoria in this discussion next year.
  13. Haha, looking at the roster for both teams that jut got updated. David Kelton and Ben Grieve will both be playing.
  14. I recently petitioned for 20 Mets fans to go kick him in the nuts. The petition was denied on the grounds that his father was the only one who actually had a set.
  15. I don't see that especially if signing a minor league contract. He also won't get a major league contract from any team this time of the year.
  16. Aren't these guys professional athletes? Shouldn't they be used to heckling? What the hell is their problem? The sox have an inferiority complex. Period. Fans and team alike. Sox fans are like the red-headed stepchild at a Nascar event. Or this guy: http://image.vmixcore.com/66/2468/25/9355354/119/66/93/ccb1ddedb8989bd72a50cf84333b8b02.jpg
  17. I will, doubt he will say much if I even get that far. Probably going to have the little girl say with the sad voice "please buy the Cubs for me" if I can.
  18. Well kind of, in a charity/celebrity baseball game in Frisco. However I will be trying to get him to sign my Cubs hat :-).
  19. +1 I don't expect to see him here beyond the trade deadline.
  20. His bat is ready, but his defense at third is horrid. A guy in the Brewers system who can't field his position? Balderdash! I wish we had a couple of bats (outside of Soto) who could rake but had trouble fielding. Its not like they can't become AL trade bait.
  21. Wow, has everyone quit watching. Fresno State making this far is a miracle, if they can win it where will that rank in the history of college sports.
  22. I doubt they'd be able to keep either of them, with about a -99% chance of Sabathia being re-signed. Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked to see both Sabathia and Sheets in Yankees unis next year. I doubt Sheets would interest the Yankees after the trouble they've had with Pavano's injuries. Obviously, Sheets is much better than Pavano, but durability is probably something they're looking for. I don't have much confidence that the Yankee string-pullers have an ounce of sense, which is why I also think Cashman may be working for a different team next year as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cashman leave regardless if the Yankees wanted him back anyways.
  23. I benched Cabrera for Barmes who came off the DL today. Only 6 starts this week which might work to my advantage if I can avoid another -40 last like week.
  24. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/mlb/mlb-rumors.html Thats fine with me. Patterson had a good weekend improving his trade value.
  25. 3 of the last 4 WS have been sweeps with the other going 5 games. Still the fact that the NL has not won since '96 is just stupid.
