  1. Planning a trip up to the Windy City, and imagine it is going to be a tough ticket.
  2. It's important to note that the beginning of Theriot's minor league career were spent switch hitting. This is not news, but it needs to be considered when noting his career numbers. I hope he gets significant time and plays like he did in 2006.
  3. I'd rather do it like the Red Sox - good signings of quality ballplayers. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Barry Bonds in our lineup - but where is he going to play? Would it be worth the investment? Who would be out? Murton is our Left Fielder. Murton can't play CF or RF, so if we were to have Bonds it would mean Murton was out. Bonds is not going to come cheap either. Legal and physical difficulties very well may mean a cut in playing time. The distractions it would bring to the tiny Cub clubhouse would make Sammy Sosa look like Mother Teresa. I don't see Bonds even playing in 2007 if the Giants don't come to terms with him. Maybe I'm crazy.
  4. Geaux Saints! Just kidding. I am actually pretty torn on this one.
  5. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h213/jackbooty10/CHI200612.jpg Oh Henry!
  6. Chuck Lidell is a BAD man.
  7. I just realized that Kenny Lofton is probably excited to have Sosa as a potential teammate again.
  8. I'm with you. The Cubs STILL don't have a legit #5 hitter (they do, but he has been delegated to the leadoff spot).
  9. Hey Bruce - if you are willing to give us some interesting insight, who were some of the worst when going through tough times? Who were some of the nicest players to deal with, and who were some of the toughtest? I understand if you don't want to touch that, but it would be real interesting to know from a fan's perspective.
  10. He makes really good points, especially pointing out that pitchers actually use HGH to "prolong their careers." Good read.
  11. That guy lied to you. Dish Network is run very smoothly - as far as customer service/quality product.
  12. I wouldn't have too much sympathy for those two, honestly. After all, both of them had the chance to stand up, point their finger at Congress in a court of law - and proclaim "I HAVE NEVER USED STEROIDS. EVER." I am not sure if their motivation was to protect the Union, create a contraversey for themselves, or just avoid lying under oath - but I think we all can make a pretty educated guess.
  13. It's hard to justify not having Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, and Mark McGwire in the Hall of Fame. Bonds and Raffy have positive tests - but deny knowingly using PEDs. Regardless, I think the MLB Players Union AND the MLB Owners are just as much to blame as the players - as the only way to secure a place in the game was to use steroids and other performance enhancing drugs to be on par. This was stated by Jose Canseco and others who had no loyalty to the Player's Union. In my opinion, it would be a disgrace if any of those players were Hall of Famers, as it would destroy the pureness and good reputation of the HOF. I am not saying that they never should be members, but until we are more informed on who used, when they used, and how that affected the game - all players retiring after the mid 90's should be put on hold for HOF consideration. We just don't know enough and can only speculate. I do know this for a fact - sluggers are not the only ones using PED's. It is a shame that we have to even talk about this. That's what I think.
  14. I still would LOVE to see a LSU/USC matchup.
  15. I'm just saying that I know Sandberg's first name is Ryne. I grew up watching him. I was kidding. I thought Vance was pulling your leg, and I jumped in. :)
  16. I'M SORRY -- WHAT???? I hope you dont claim to be a Cubs fan of any kind. R Y A N????? Seriously!?!?!? r y N E. Dude, get it right, whether you are serious or not, respect. That brings a tear to my eye. Can't I poke fun at your misspellings without being taken seriously!!! :)
  17. Vance, Did Ryan Sandberg play on that team? Schmuck.
  18. I live in your area, and the only teams that were blacked out were the Astros and Rangers. The Astros can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest, which is a very available channel on Dish Network (basic channel, I think). The Rangers, however - you will be lucky to see. Almost impossible to watch a Rangers home game on TV here in Shreveport. I really don't care though, as a Cub fan. They say the "Blackout" is to encourage fans to actually go to the games instead of watch them on the tube. That makes zero sense when they black out a team that is 200 miles away from a viewership. I did get a little interesting information from a Dish Network operator (who have been excellent the 6 or 7 years I have been a customer) - MLB is working on abolishing "blackouts." That would be excellent. As far as the local team, the Independant Shreveport Sports - it is tough to go watch them because of their location - which is why no one really went to see the AA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants when we had them here. Shreveport-Bossier has rich minor league roots - and I think in time (with the right location for a field) we will once again have real minor league baseball.
  19. I am going to be very unhappy if Dish Network doesn't provide MLB Extra Innings. No way am I changing over to DirecTV. Already had a terrible experience with those dipsticks. The year before last, I got the "Early Bird" special for $120, but I don't think it was offered last season with Dish Network. I know I paid $150 for it, but if it gets over $200 - I'm going to have a hard time with the wife. Yet I'd pay....
  20. I think he still owns that baseball that was the last out in their World Series Victory, right? He could get a lot of money from George for that ball - and they could destroy it like the Bartman ball, no?
  21. Last year it was more expensive than the year before. I paid $150 for it last year. I think $120 the year before.
  22. I always did like the way he dragged his toes while trotting to 1st base after drawing walks. Oh, and the way he used to lay out for routine fly-balls in the outfield. Thats about it, though.
  23. Hey Tim - you have the private message in your electronic box.
