  1. If its a center cut fastball you swing at the first pitch. There is a good chance hes gonna throw you something thats gonna break and then you never swing first pitch breaking ball. So I guess I undersand what you are saying, but ive heard it both ways.
  2. 1) Maddux won the Cy Young as a Cub. 2) Mitre doesn't have near Maddux's control. 3) I think people are going a little overboard in their predictions for Mitre after only one start for Florida. He had a few awesome, but random starts for the Cubs too. Thank you and he got a win against a big game in his career I give him credit don't get me wrong, but hes no where near maddux control or talent wise.
  3. Not that different of numbers. I dont care what you say Encarnacion is not better than Pierre. Murton is young and we'll see what he does, but on the other hand Taguchi hasnt started for a full season. Encarncion is better then Jones. So Edmonds vs. Pierre Edmonds with a slight edge. Encarncion is better than Jones. Taguchi and Murton even. I think thats a small gap or a small edge to the Cards OF.
  4. I think thats nuts personally. He hasnt shown that he was that good when he was in our system and now because he had one good start for the marlin you think he has the stuff to be a Greg Maddux in the future thats a little outlandish.

I go Aldridge the scouts are saying he could become a very good big man in the NBA. Im still high on Morrison I know he cried, but hes going to be pretty good just cause of his size. After that Thomas and Noah because we still need big guys. So those are my top 4 in that order hopefully well get one of them.
  6. Garcia just looked ridiculous. I mean I know Carlos wasnt finding the strike zone. They said though that Garcia was throwing about 10 mph slower than last year. He usually hit mid 90's. Odd as for the others I agree they did look shakey. Dontrelle on the other hand looked great and got dicked over by there terrible fielding.
  7. I said the defense thing before we are horrible in the field offensively though I dont see a big gap.
  8. I don't think that's the point. He's still better than Konerko so expect his contract to be in that neighborhood. The Cubs don't want him to become a FA and have other teams attempt to drive up the price. I'm sure some teams would be very willing to overpay so the Cubs will want to be generous without breaking the bank. The best time to do that is now. But Konerko won a world series so he's clutch or something. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Lee get a lesser contract than Konerko. So again...how does winning a World Series = clutch? I mean Konerko was solid during the playoffs, and outside of maybe Game 2 of the World Series, where he hit the Grand Slam, nobody outside of the White Sox had even heard of Konerko. The Sox pitchers were clutch. He got that contract because he's one of four players in the majors who's had 40 hr and 100 rbi in the last 2 years. The list Dunn Konerko Pujols Manny Big Pappi Sorry there are 5 in the last two years. I think thats why he got the contract and because hes by far the best position player. Believe me he deserved on the offensive team that they had.
  9. Edmonds is by far the best out of the six, but pierre is better than Taguchi and Encarnocion. Murton and Jones are about even with them.
  10. Are you kidding me? Wood hasnt been healthy for the last 3 seasons first off. Secondly Sheffield even though it is said he was steroid induced was in the running for MVP the last two years. I understand about Matsui I didn't know that. Sheffield on the other hand has been a cornerstone for that teams offense. Tell me if that offense get just as much of production with out him. Year Ag Tm Lg G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP 2004 35 NYY AL 154 573 117 166 30 1 36 121 5 6 92 83 .290 .393 .534 306 0 8 7 11 16 2005 36 NYY AL 154 584 104 170 27 0 34 123 10 2 78 76 .291 .379 Who you gonna bat there bernie williams. He is there 4 hitter I think If you took him out of there lineup it would make a difference.
  11. Mitre will be no Willis. Hes a serviceable back of the rotation or long reliever guy.
  12. Its really not one of the worst in baseball. Its not one of the best either, but its serviceable. I really think you guys are basing way to much on Pierres year last year. He's been one of the best leadoff hitters in the baseball the last 5 years. He had one bad year with the bat who cares. Jaque isnt good, but he was the best availabe (we werent going to get Brian Giles). As for Murton he looks like hes a very good hitter. I mean not just based on his numbers. I played baseball all my life and hes got perfect fundamentals. Defensivly we are pretty bad though I will say that.
  13. NL West: Giants NL Central: Cardinals NL East: Braves NL Wild Card: Mets AL West: Angels AL Central: White Sox AL East: Yankees AL Wild Card: A's NLCS: Cardinals over Mets ALCS: Yankees over Sox World Series: Cards over Yankees
  14. If you guys are saying the Yankees have nothing to offer to the Cubs you are wrong. You guys always talk about how bad Jaque Jones is and how we need more pop in the outfield, now i know there salaries are humongous, but im pretty sure Sheffield or Matsui would fit into our line up pretty nicely. No there is no way they would trade us either one, but im just pointing out there are players on there team that would help us out by trading a useless arm.
  15. He is so fat. Though it looks like it works in his advantage cause hes whipping the 280 lbs at the plate.
  16. I think the Pirates are better than the reds. They got two pretty good starters and a young lineup which isnt to bad.
  17. Oh theres no doubt that Miles will have a Womack or Gruz type of year for them this year. I also think Ponson will win about 10 games which is not bad for a reasonable they got him. As long as hes not beating up priest on a beach he'll most likely do well for them. God I hate saything this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. We are not going to get Cabrera. Or at least thats what I think he just to good and they wouldnt give him up for just minor leaguers. We'll see I could be wrong.
  19. I'd do it just cause we need the pop, but horrible april fools joke.
  20. Is he that good really or no? Cause him at 4 our pitching staff is ridiculous.
  21. Tucker would play way to much hes another Dusty guy. I dont like Dusty guys.
  22. I want a GM to win no doubt but LSU or Flordia I think will win.
