I never understood this. I've wondered this for a long time, and I need someone to clarify it for me. Why do most sports articles I've read have [] in them? What, did a player totally leave those words out, and the writer is inserting them back in? I mean, did Neifi actually say. . . In this case, Neifi probably said "he" where [Cedeno] is. Since it's not a full quote, the reader doesn't necessarily know who Neifi is talking about. So is it well known that [] = "we are replacing another word" ?? If so thanks for the clarification! It just got on my nerves not knowing! I still think it should be. .
