  1. There's a fine line between being injured and having pain or discomfort. My point is, I'm not sure that he knows the difference between the two. There are pitchers with long careers that deal with ongoing pain. I'm trying not to be cynical however, I do recall Prior saying last year that he's going to have to learn to pitch through pain. I don't see any change. Here we go again I think he needs to do more in the offseason to get himself ready to pitch. Blueheart, Short, sweet, and on point. =D> An illness requiring hospitalization could make that somewhat more difficult. What was his excuse last year then?
  2. YES!! USA is eliminated!! Now Lee and Barret can come back to play with the Cubs where they belong!!
  3. I already read that. Basically, Prior is a wuss. And they are treating him like a little girl. He's sore so there's gonna baby, and pamper him.
  4. What the hell is wrong with mark prior and kerry wood's muscles. Always getting strained, tendonitis, sore, inflammed. . . I hope we don't have either of these 2 picthers next year. And if we atleast keep Prior. We get some top FA pitching and have #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 covered. And count Prior as a bonus #2 if he CAN pitch. .
  5. So, Prior and Wood wouldn't get hurt if they weren't sitting naked in a bean bag chair eating cheetos during the offseason. No because they would have more body fat, and you can't tear fat. Or atleast it is very hard to. Remember that one old fat guy who picthed for the cubs and said that a few years back?
  6. The Korean's won, drat!! I want to see Lee and Barret back with us, in camp.
  7. Um, yeah. All I'm gonna say is Marte is on the Cleveland Indians. Other than that fact, his overall point makes some sense to me. It may be only March, but it's clear this is not a contender. I'm not sure what sense there is to throwing guys like Neifi and Grissom out there day after day. What purpose does it serve on a 3rd or 4th place ballclub? Sure, there could be some miracle and the Cubs could win some games. But it's a real outside shot now with the injuries. Doesn't a youth movement at least need to be put back on the table as an option? Not a youth movement. Just smarter spending. We may need to get rid of Hendry, Baker, MacPhail after this year. I just hope we get some good minds running the show if we fail this year. Yunno. Minds that won't pay $2.5-$3.0m for the likes of Neifi, Rusch, Jones, ect. . . EDIT: It CHANGED M.c.f.a.i.l to the proper spelling??!?! Smart messege bored. LOL.
  8. viewtopic.php?t=5848 Oh ok. So we're allowed to attack the Cubs, and any person in the Cubs association, but not any poster. Ok. Sorry! Post changed. I'll attack the IDEA in the future.
  9. If I'm infringing on some rule here, please let me know. And I will take it back and take it down.
  10. I've got a solution for you. Just don't watch the games! :P
  11. So what do we want to root for so US is eliminated so Lee and Barret come home?
  12. I'm glad Henry and Z are coming back to us. You did good in your second game Z!! You did your best! Now come back home!!
  13. If you listen to, or watch the games. It's really not that hard to see. It seems like they (Hendry, Baker, Santo, MacPhail, or whoever else you want to count) have already decided, and have been talking about this behind closed doors already. Any time a game is on WGN radio, Santo basically talks about Hairston as the 2B. Which leads me to beleive he has had some conversations already with Hendry or Baker (I guess they talk alot) and that he is just not very good at "keeping a secret". . It just sounds like he knows Hairston is already set as the starting 2B, but just forgots that he's on the air and 1000's of people are listening. . Santo seems to be trying to "sell Hairston to the public". . I mean you hear all the praise coming out of Santo's mouth about hairston? About how impressive he has been this spring, ect. . And you see how it's always mentioned about Walker's health, and they're not quite sure he can play a full season? Maybe this is an agenda they have, and are doing this on purpose, to slowly sell us the idea of Hairston at 2B. Every time I read a quote from Hendry, he mentions how Hairston wasn't 100% last year, and how he is looking better. That he's fast, and plans to steal alot more this year. Talks about his 2002/2003 #'s as the [last time he's felt really good]. FYI, neither year did he play a full season. But did put up impressive #'s. Even better than Walker as far as .OBP. So am I looking too much into this? Or have I caught onto something? Should we just hang our coats up now, and just Hope that Hairston has it in him, to put up good offensive #'s, as well as providing good defense at 2B?
  14. Yes and Nomar had like a .500 avg during spring. And look how bad he was at the start of the season. People were actually PRAISING neifi in how good he was! I'm sure this was your original point anyway. But let's not get "scared" that Cedeno is now all of a sudden, a "bad" player.
  15. Not sure of that one, with the Cubs on the road. Oh ok. BTW, how are you enjoying Arizona? What kind of question is that?
  16. What is it, a book? Video footage?
  17. Anybody can take stats to prove their point. You are taking Jones last years stats expecting him to NOT improve over last year. I like Walker too, but let's not "spin" stats please. .
  18. I'm not saying that they are the sole reason for victory, but they certainly didn't hurt their team. 2 of the last 3 World Series have had the same style lead off hitter, we have the guy that did it once if you want to rip apart the construction of the team I think it's more logical to look elsewhere. Yeah, good point. I'm tired of defending Jaun Pierre, when he doesn't even need to be defended. I'm done with that.
  19. I think you've made my point. I'd rather he not steal much. Even if he was at 75%, he'd barely be over the breakeven point and it wouldn't be very productive. No I didn't. There's no way you are going to get Jaun Pierre to "not steal much". .. I said either let him be himself or not steal at ALL. I'm sorry I disagree. I think his success rate leads to more runs than his caught stealing negates runs. The official "break even" point I beleive was 77%. Meaning 77% or higher actually lead to more runs than the caught stealing took away.
  20. Isn't anyone above 75% considered to be an effective base stealer? A lot of people see 75% as the break-even line, meaning 3 stolen bases balances out 1 caught stealing. 77% may make it worth it, but it's not exactly good. What would you consider good? Not wasting precious offensive currency by giving away outs? Can't have it both ways. Either he's gonna shoot for around 55 SB this year, and have a success rate of 75% (or hopefully better). . Or he's not gonna steal at all. I'd rather him just be the player he is. And keep causing havok on the bases. Be yourself Pierre!!
  21. 10 points to ya motha! WORD! 8)
  22. Ok what expletative "nickname" did you edit out in that paraphrase?
  23. Word. DOUBLE word to ya motha! Vanilla Ice... is that you? Alright STOP!!
  24. Word. DOUBLE word to ya motha!
  25. One that doesn't voice descent and try to hint that he should be given more at bats than he deserves. One that accepts his role as a backup, and keeps is filthy mouth shut? I mean seriously. I thought we got rid of all this crap with Sosa, Alou, Farnsworth, Mercker, ect. . Now Neifi has to open his big fat mouth!!? You know, this can really screw up a teams chemistry. And they all seem to be having fun and playing off eachother so well. If there are any outbreaks in the Clubhouse it can really screw up a team's momentum. I really hope he keeps his big mouth shut, and what he said was said, and it's off his chest now. Otherwise this could be a very LOOOOOONG season. . .
