  1. I linked the 5 injuries above that don't include the Giles collision or the ball to the elbow, which were both freak injuries he had no control over. I know, I saw them (but you didn't have them labeled). I was kind of asking that to hint why he is leaving out certain "strains" or "injuries" to make his arguement look better. Or if he just forgot that Prior started last year on the DL too.
  2. so where on cubs.com does it say all these minor league games will be free in april and where is the link to watch the games? Just curious. I'm not very good at finding these hidden links on cubs.com.
  3. What about in the beggining of 2005? Didn't Mark and Kerry start out on the DL last year too? If so what was the problem in Spring Training 2005 for Mark Prior?
  4. My version: Anyone who watched yesterday's game understands how badly Jim Hendry's reliance on the health of Wood and Prior has let this organization down. Yep, exactly. Miller was a good insurance plan and we probably WILL need him to contribute. But his sitting on his hands and/or thinking RUSCH or WILLIAMS are OK in April/May while we are waiting for Wood and Prior was NOT a good plan. .
  5. Yeah I have an idea!! Let's give the cardinals the advantage! Instead of batting Walker second who is a good contact hitter and slugger, let's bat Neifi 2nd who has a horrible OBP and hits into alot of DP! Who's with me!!!11!!!
  6. it led to one run. the home runs accounted for four. your point is...? Actually, I saw it lead to two. And the Cubs hit 3 HRs and still lost. It's still a combination of things, all of which are important on a play-by-play basis. Yeah, your right. Our Offense didn't let us down today. It scored ENOUGH runs to win. But PICTHING is what "probably" lost this for us. If we weren't eternally cursed with Wood/Prior. Prior would have been starting this game. Big difference between a healthy Prior and an anything Rusch. .
  7. Ah, hell. I'll join in on the fun, too. Care to wager on that? I don't wager, ever. Well........I *did* bet on the Marlins on games 6 and 7 and won about 1,500 bucks. Almost never. It's a feeling, based on past history with how our starter's injuries tend to go. No Cubs fan should ever talk to you again. [-( Why? It's reverse psycholocy on karma!! If the Marlins win atleast you get $1500. If not it's like you PAID $400-$500 for the Cubs to be WORLD SERIES champions!!
  8. Nope, that was a big game changer too.
  9. The Reds won by 2 runs today. The Freel run really didn't mean anything, other than the fact the Cubs were going to need at least 2 runs to tie. I never said that. I just don't like why this thread was started. Let's not mock other posters ideas. Speed, HR, OBP, and PICTHING is all important. And this team has all but the latter now. And we desperately need it, soon.
  10. No. Getting on base is the most important thing. What "we" are saying is that hitting homeruns >>>>>>>>>>>>>> causing havoc on the bases. Did the thread creator of the other thread ever say "causing havok" was MORE important than home runs or OBP? Because it seems you guys are taking shots at that thread. And I don't remember him saying speed was more important than everything else. Only that it helps (as proven by that one run by freel today).. There are going to be games where 1 run wins you the game.
  11. So are we saying HR is the most important thing again? Cause last I remember last year we were 1st or 2nd in home runs (NL) and 10th(??) in runs scored. You are going to see days where HR win games. But that shouldn't make you "scoff at" our new and improved speed. Because it IS important and CAN help win games.
  12. These early in the year hits will help Cedeno gain some of that confidence back (that it looked like he lost in Spring Training). . So for that alone, something good happened today. Rusch and Williams lost this game for us today. They are our 2 weakest links in the pitching department. I like every other one of our pitchers and feel at ease when they pitch. Not so when Rusch or Williams is up. Please Kerry get back soon and have a solid year!
  13. Just quit school. Only to get a job and not be able to watch Cubs games period. I was just kidding. I guess I am lucky in that I get to work from home. I REALLY appreciate it at times like this.
  14. I loved the fact that the thread for the opening day game was already at 15 pages before the game even started. Pretty obvious we were all missing baseball. I was looking at the cubs.com game thread and they had over 1400 posts yesterday. Cubs fans are amazing! That's because that thread was started in january or even last year. You notice the first post line-up included. . Pierre, Furcal, Dlee, Aram, Giles? That was a pretty optimistic prediction of the off season. LOL.
  15. I predict by the end of the year we will be looking at Murton, Lee, and Ramirez as solid big boppers. .
  16. 7 pages before the game. BASEBALL IS BACK!! Well goodnight all, going to sleep late gives me one advantage. Waking up to Chicago Cubs baseball!!
  17. Cubs will win tomorrow 18-3 and then proceed to score 18 runs in their next 8 games losing 6 of them. That was last year, this is a new year, and a new team. They showed great ability to play small ball and get lots of runs w/o the home run this spring. And I honestly like this team alot. They have the talent to win the pennant, they just need to "gel" and I think it can happen if Dusty keeps a relatively simular line-up to today's game. And let everybody know their roles. . God it's SO NICE to see that line-up. Pierre-Walker. And think, gee here's 2 guys who can put up a bit more than .350 OBP and these could be our main #1 and 2 guys. We couldn't say that going into last year. We couldn't say that ALL last year actually. .
  18. I'd be thrilled if Ronny hits well enough to warrant consideration for that spot. If he can continue to hit .300 and walk enough for a .350 OBP or better (high expectations, yes, unrealistic, maybe, impossible, no), I think Cedeno could make a great 2 hitter. I'm not gonna dissagree there. But I think the best Senerio for Cedeno is that he his for al "alright" average and OBP keeping Neifi on the bench most of the time, and remaining lower in the order. I have higher expectations for Murton. Just NO jones, neifi, or Murton in #2 spot please!!
  19. I was sort of hoping that Murton would get a little higher up in the order...I would prefer that Dusty doesn't bat the rookies 7-8 all year unless they deserve it, and IMO Murton can bat 6th. I am an avid dusty basher at times. But I actually agree with him here. I think he is just putting him lower to start the season so there is less pressure to perform. IMO, that's the PERFECT thing to do. Don't you worry, if Murton tears it up I have NO DOUBT Dusty will bat him #6 and possibly even #5. Inbetween Lee and Ramirez maybe? Who knows but this is the perfect line-up for beggining the year. I hope #2 is always occupied by either Walker or Hairston. NO Jones, NO Neifi, NO Murton (his slugging is more useful #5).
  20. Just as long as Marshall or Guzman steps up, and we sign someone like Zito. I won't mind. (just an example) Zambrano Zito Marshall/Guzman Miller -or- Prior Williams or equivilant I won't miss him, the less injury risks in our pitching the better.
  21. WOW, not looking too go there cubbie75.
  22. Rackeytacked. Let's Rackeytack the Reds FARNSWORTH STYLE!! 8)
  23. I wanted Hairston. I was hoping they would go with him. And he could recapture some of his 2002-03 glory where he posted OBP even better than walker's carreer norm. But I must admit when I heard it on 720 before the game started on WGN TV, I clapped. So I must have really been a walker fan, deep inside. I liked Seeing Pierre and Walker #1 and 2 today. I think that's a GREAT #1 and 2 in front of Lee and Ramirez. If Jones can get back on track, and Murton perform like I know he can, we've got a pretty solid line-up.
