  1. Don't know about either of these guys from our organization. One thing though. Please promote Van Joshua to Cubs hitting coach. .
  2. Quoted for Truth. I've been QFT'd!! Thank you!!
  3. I'd just like to add something, not based on statistics but simple understood observations. . 1) JH overpays for mediocre players 2) something I've always beleived and was further affirmed when Bruce Miles mentioned this here. But Dusty and his Staff didn't have much of a drive to win, and wasn't very hard working. Therefore they didn't get the most performance out of their players. It has been agreed here that over the last few years while our team on a whole is not good. There are several players who had underacheived. That lays on the coaches and manager.
  4. Atleast finally something is happening.
  5. I heard walks are 3 balls too thanks to dunn. .
  6. Your original post claimed you would have liked Baker back. Yet you have not admited any of Baker's failures. If you really want to keep this arguement going let's discuss. . -Baker continually led Pierre off when he was struggling for the 1st 2 months. -Baker ocntinually played bad players like Bynum, Mabry, and Pagan over better players in Nevin, Moore, Theroit, and Murton -He dismisses the need for OBP at the top of the line-up and insited to put "speed" at the top of the order. Even when that "speed" had a sub .300 OBP -He overused Prior and Wood in 03 -He let Zambrano pitch 120+ pitches almost every game even when the season was over -He'd rather someone who is slow to not get on base at all, according to all of the things he's said. -He preached aggressivness at the plate. Which shows because the Cubs (someone back me up here) the Cubs were last in pitches per plate appearance in the league -He consistantly made excuses and did not punish bad fundimentals -He let the team go into extensive loosing streaks. Not having a "team meeting" until the streak was 8 games lost in a row -He never "saw" anything from where he was sitting in the dugout -He hardly ever went out to argue a bad call, because he didn't want his family to see that -Him and his coaching staff have been noted as to not have been very "hard working" according to Bruce Miles, and I can tell you, it REALLY showed by the teams play on the feild. He is a terrible manager. Now you tell me why you would want him back. Beside him being a "nice guy". Try to list all of the good things about Baker.
  7. Jim Hendry is just as much at blame as Dusty. However we have all grown sour on Dusty. Do I really have to relist all of the things he did bad?
  8. I don't think anyone has accused Bochy of being Dusty #2. So Dusty 2.0? The "Dusty 2.0?" was not a question. It was a sarcastic remark. And your post seemed to invite comparisions of Dusty. And it sounds based on a majority of the posts that he actually does play the kids. So where did you hear he doesn't play kids? And did you intentionally word it to invite comparisions to Dusty?
  9. My line-up (not chronological) consists of these players. . Murton Derreck Lee Aramis Ramirez Micheal Barret And atleast 1 big bat and 1 above average aquisition. I will then also use. . Theroit Pie Depending on which positions the big bats play.
  10. If Boch is Hendry's choice (which is a real possibility - Boch was supposedly #2 behind Dusty in 2002), I hope the McDOnough and company blink. Hopefully, but we know McDonough is into the "PR" possibility of Joe Girardi. So, Hendry would have to CONVINCE the McD and company that Bochy is a better hire then the "PR Hero of the people" Girardi. I don't know if you meant that or not. But We've found a nickname for McDunough. MickyD. :D
  11. I will say this. We NEED to get atleast 1 huge bat. Soriano, Andrew Jones, Arod, whatever. Dunn is one of those bats. However, I am not too inclined to replace Murton (a very productive underpaid youngster) straight up with Dunn (a hugely productive young guy who is being paid much more, but not overpaid). . Someone said here Murton would be a butcher in RF. If we could move Murton to RF and get dunn in LF I would be all over this. Because I'd rather have Dunn and Murton than Dunn and Jones. I just like Murton alot as a player. If we could get Dunn for Prior I'd do it because frankly I just don't trust prior to get healthy. Hill we need to keep because he looks like a keeper. If we played Dunn in LF that would free up Murton to be used in a trade to get us a really good starter or even another bat in the line-up.
  12. So in other words, he's smart enough to know that if he had both Bynum and Theroit on his roster. To know that Bynum sucks and to not continuously play him over Theroit? Same deal as in Pagan over Murton? Doesn't sound like Dusty to me at all!! -Likes OBP at the top of the order -Is capable of telling which rookies are actually worth playing -Does not make excuses for everything I think some of you accusing him of being Dusty #2 you should read all what BBB has said.
  13. I expect videos.
  14. I'd add Zito and negotiate a deal with Miller (Miller would "figuritivly" atleast to me, not a FA sign) because we have the ability to talk with him first to "re-up" his contract. From there I would be happy if we could just make ONE big move for the offense. Be it soriano, andrew jones, a-rod, or anyone of that nature.
  15. Not entirely stupid. If he has not been working out for them (post season #'s) it's not entirely stupid to part ways and get some good talent in return. He could go to the Cubs and hit .500 in the post season, or not at all. Sometimes change is neccesary.
  16. Maybe so. 1, 2 bad contracts for productive players. Not so bad. But atleast they don't have several bad contracts like we've had.
  17. No their downfall is A-rod failing in the post season. Now trade him to us Yankee's!!
  18. YES, the yankee's are gonna be eliminated. Take THAT you arrogant yankme fans!!
  19. OOOOOO, AYE DE HI DI HI DI AYE DE AYE DE AYE DE AYE!! Well, the Yankee's are gonna be eliminated today, HAHAHAHA, never mind.
  20. Yeah, but this is the first time he has been manager in that situation. I think Girardi is smart enough to learn from that and probably won't do it again. I base this on just the way he talks, and my assumptions as to his intelligence. Dusty already ruined Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Chad Fox, and I wouldn't be suprised if Zambrano had some major DL time next year thanks to Dusty and his constantly letting him pitch 8 innings and more than 120 pitches, all the damn time.
  21. First off. We'd have to SIGN A-ram (less you are talking about moore) before we trade him. Secondly. Signing someone then trading them = not cool. Anyway. If the trib is serious in their hints that they want to win for the fans. Then A-rod is the type of move an org would do to make a huge splash. There's no promise of your sincerity to compete than signing someone like A-rod.
  22. Jeff, are you tryin to challenge me to a, hoedown? :D =D>
  23. You MUST be on the Ganja! What in the world do the Yankme's want Scott more for? Marlin's make out like made. If the Yankees get Cabrera and add Scott Moore to the Marlins, then I can see the Cubs getting Arod by giving up Murton, Pie, and Moore. Sure I could see that. Throw in one of the pitching prospects to give Florida more reason to do it.
  24. I understand the gist of your post, but you have to realize that Florida has no fan base and no big-city media to deal with. If they took 2 hours or 2 years to hire a manager, would anyone care? If they hired Gonzalez or Showalter, would anyone care? Either Girardi or Brenly would be a good choice. And Jim would not face critisism because "on the whole". Cubs fans like both those guys. I'm not sure where pressure of a fan base comes in on this arguement. I simply stated Florida knew who they want, and went out and got a GOOD GUY in 1 days time. There is no excuse not to go ahead and sign either Brenely or Girardi. There is no excuse to take a MONTH to get your manager signed when there is so much more to do. It just shows this orginazation's lack of desire. It is important to go out and get a manager and get ramirez re-signed before the world series is even over. My point boils down to. I like the way Florida does it, and I wish the Cubs could show the same drive to go out and just "get it done". I agree that either would be okay with me, but you know Chicago fans (and NSBB posters) and the media will analyze and criticize whichever move he makes for the next 2-3 years (unless the manager wins a WS). In that case (if he is going to get criticized no matter what), then why does it matter anyway? Are you saying hendry's "scared" of the result? If that's the case I want a new GM with a set of baseballs.
