  1. The yankees are the last team on the planet right now that wants pitching prospecs. if they aren't ML ready blue chippers/ or all-star/former all start starters than it probably wont happen They can just sign Zito, Schmidt, etc. Plus the prospects would probably just be traded again for another SP/3B, and the cleared payroll would help mitigate the expenditure for signed SP's. Hendry can't give them what they need, but he can help give them the means to get it from somewhere else. Jim can't give them a stud 3B, and he can't give them a top of the rotation SP (at least not without crippling the rotation). If he wants ARod, the only thing he can do is offer our best prospects and take some of George's payroll. Or get a team like the marlin's involved to get the yankee's willis, the marlins a very attractive set of youngsters, and the Cubs a-rod. .
  2. I like the sound of this. Please let those two OF be our French outfielders. From what Bruce said about liking Murton and noticing numbers, this seems to leave those two. If this happens, we're well on our way to a terrific offseason. EXACTLY. I have stated that's what I'd do. THAT is how you effectively use payroll and build a WS calibur team. You keep the low paid younster who is very promising, and you ditch the $6 mil and $5.5 mil average at best guys and use THEIR money on someone more costly, but much better than them. .
  3. Oooooowwwwwwwwwwhuh huh huhoooooooowwwwwhhh. Buuuuuurn.
  4. What about when he said everyone played 3 quarters? Was he reffering to pre-season, or saying like they didn't show up in the 4th quarter. Alot of it doesn't make sense. It's just a garbled bunch of words, he's speaking in tongues!!
  5. Crown the bears super bowl champs i think. All the hype about them being the best team in NFL. 'You wanna crown them, crown their asses' i love it. So he was blasting the media? The question didn't seem like "crowning the bears". . They just asked about Grosman's terrible first half (and I didn't hear the second part). . Maybe he was just so pissed that he was speaking in tongues. .
  6. What the hell was he saying anyway? If you wanna crown em? Was he blasting something the media said, or blasting his players? I don't understand the term. .
  7. Awesome!! Let those 2 be Pierre and Jones plz. And not Murton. Let one of the new ones be Soriano or Wells, and I could care more who the other one is.

  9. Seriously, when are people going to stop making statments like these? He's not Manny Ramirez. He's "loafed" maybe 6 times all of last season. He's not some lazy malcontent who won't play for a guy who might yell at him. Read the rest of his post. . I did. I stand by my post. It's not the first time someone has insinuated that Piniella's "fiery" demeanor would make the "loafing" Ramirez opt out and chase FA. It's a media creation. It's a strawman argument. Constantly implying your best offfensive player is lazy is insane. I agree with you. I just was unasure if you were attacking his post or not. Because he goes on to say he really doesn't feel that way.
  10. Let us know when a GOOD shirt becomes available. .
  11. Oh no! He's insulted spanish people! BURN HIM NOW!!
  12. You have been around long enough to know that it will never happen. If he wins they will say that Lou had nothing to do with it, if he loses it will be all his fault. Who, the Piniella hater monkees?
  13. Seriously, when are people going to stop making statments like these? He's not Manny Ramirez. He's "loafed" maybe 6 times all of last season. He's not some lazy malcontent who won't play for a guy who might yell at him. Read the rest of his post. .
  14. With Piniella. Cubs fans will now beable to chant "LOUOUOUOUuououououououououou".
  15. Larry will be back I'm affraid, for my pitchers arms, he might hurt the pitchers he'll ignore all the alarms But hopefully it was Dusty, who ignored Rothchilds advice, If that is the case, then our pitching should suffice.
  16. Oh I am excited Now we have sweet Lou, I can't wait to see him lose his cool, you know you'll love it too, He'll put some fire in the players, They'll play hard like they've got gas, and IF a player slouches, he'll throw them on their ass!
  17. Check cubs.com if you want official. It's on there too.
  18. Does my avatar count?
  19. I hope that's your new quote in 2007.
  20. I don't know, there's a pretty big difference between 3/24 and 5/75, and those are two of the more frequent deals I've heard for each guy. Both aren't worth their contracts but I'd rather over spend for Soriano then Pierre. Ain't that the truth!! Bring in Sweet Lou and bring in Soriano in CF!!
  21. Soriano and Matsazuka san plz. Spend the rest wisely. Piniella kick Hendry's ass if he thinks of paying for Rusch and Neifi types.
  22. Them chickens ain't hatched yet. Fair enough. I still don't beleive Piniella would be so eager to come unless he had some sort of behind closed doors reassurance that the Cubs were significantly raising the payroll. And I will continue to beleive the Cubs are going to be really aggressive this off-season. Piniella's hiring seals it for me.
  23. The only positive I see is that bringing a "big name" manager gives me the impression that the Cubs want to win now. I like that mentality. I reserve judgment until I see what kind of off-season we have. If we get a big name pitcher (Zito), and a big bat (C. Lee or Soriano), I like our chances. Time will tell. I thought that Baker was a big name manager and he didn't bring much to the table. True, but I like Piniella and Piniella's mentality better than Baker's. And we didn't raise the payroll to $115 mil or have a president say "it's time to win the world series" last time either. There's a much higher sense of wanting to win, and you can feel it if you listen to the radio or press conferences. .
  24. contending in the worst division in MLB isnt exactly what anyone is hopeing for, if all we do is contend in the central, this Sweaty Lou experiment will be a complete flop Yeah but the stat monk. . . ER HERM!! "some" people say "We'll we are horrible. We cannot go from 30 under .500 to contention no matter WHO we sign"!!!!.>!.1.!!>.!.!>!!!##!@~!~!!!
