  1. Oh, deffinatly. If that someone else is another 25-30 HR hitter with solid OBP, and Soriano playing at second? You can count me in, I want to see Pie playing with us next year. Build a good enough offense that his production is "bonus". .
  2. Dusty Baker is not being interviewed because of AA ok. But I like to say I had a terrible experience with an AA employee.
  3. You guys got to remember, this is just a magazine quote. And as well, the writers own opinion. It also says only: His FRIENDS thought he was miserable with the Cubs. I read that as: His friends could tell he was unhappy, because he wanted to WIN with the Cubs. And we had a horrible season. Hell I'd be miserable too. We were ALL miserable. So wouldn't we take that as a compliment? He was miserable because he cared. That's how I take it. .
  4. I doubt it'll happen shortly. Depends on your interpretation of, "shortly". . Well, when I think of baseball transactions taking place shortly, I'm thinking within a week, or two at the most. Oh, ok. I was thinking "short" as in relative terms of the universe. .

  6. Well, if Arod wants to play for "uncle lou" again, we will find out shortly. It would work out well for the Cubs if that is the case. .
  7. Link This is interesting. Of course, I'm not sure Arod gets as much money if he opts out...but there is the chance he could get more. I don't think that there's any conceivable chance for him to get more. His agent is Scott Boras. And his salary is ~$25mil and he will be ~33.
  8. I guess I would be ok with Shef, he is a really good carreer OBP and OPS. But does anyone know why he played so few games this year? He IS afterall, 39 yrs old.
  9. So? He's still worth that cost. I didn't say he wasn't worth that cost. I'm saying the stalling has more to do with Ramirez not accepting any offers, and possibly keeps upping the price as soon as Hendry offers a higher price.
  10. You guys ever think it's possible that JH offered 5/75 but AR wants MORE? It's possible AR might be asking for something like 5/85.
  11. Iwamura has expressed a desire to play pretty much any position on the diamond. He would be worth a look-see, imo. I agree, but Fukudome would be great too. Is it me or is Fukudome the most comical name ever? Look at how it's spelled, then seperate the letters. Dick Trickle Dick Pole. Spotted Dick. . I know it's not a name, but I felt left out.
  12. In b4 the lock!!
  13. Your original post implies that Hendry makes it a habit of trading our prospects for mediocre garbage. This just isn't true. In his 3+ years as GM, he's done this once (Juan Pierre) and traded one good prospect (Ricky Nolasco). Hendry does a lot of things wrong, but he's pretty good at evaluating our own system and knowing who to trade. If anything, he holds on to too many of them for too long. I agree with your strategy though. No sense in trading away talent when we have money to spend. Also to add to that, if anyone wants to say "it's easy to second guess". It's also easy to learn from our mistakes and not do it again. Let's try real hard not to trade another "willis" for a an emergency stop gap. Or to support such a thing. Soriano will cost us nothing but money, and money we have. And he is the best target for this off-season for this team.
  14. where would you prefer the much needed offense to come from? i don't love soriano or anything, but he's the best hope for making this offense respectable. Get a 2B in Free Agency(Durham and Iwamura are my favorites, Loretta would be okay too), and revamp the OF in trade. Kearns, Burrell, A-Rod(which isn't the OF, but still), Sheffield, maybe Cabrera, Hawpe, or Cuddyer if they come available. What and alomst completely strip our farm system of any of the A prospects left of it? I'd rather keep the prospects and sign big free agents when they become available, somewhat simular to the mets. If we would have done it that way a few years ago, just for example. We could have a guy like Beltran and still have guys like Willis, Garland. . ect. . Instead we trade the Willis' and Garland's for mediocre crap and think we're gonna contend. (we=JH). . Your hate for Hendry is blinding. Garland was traded 8 years ago, when Hendry might not have even been in the organization. And Willis was traded before Hendry was GM too. Next time you try and trash Hendry, at least criticize him for things he's actually done. It's very easy to second guess. Your agenda to go after "JH haters" is blinding. I don't hate JH. It was more of a rant on what the Cubs have done in the past and what I think they should do. It's easy to second guess. But I'll go ahead and first guess for ya. we should not trade Hill, Murton, Veal, Pie, Eric Patterson, or Fox. Instead we should go after the big FA available from Japan and US, and use only the pospects needed to fill the rest in with very good above average players.

Instead we trade the Willis' and Garland's for mediocre crap and think we're gonna contend. (we=JH). . This is why many different options were listed. Like was said before, Burrell is pretty much there to be taken, no "A prospects" necessary. Making a trade for one outfielder is not going to strip our system. I'm not suggesting to get 4 of the guys I listed as trade targets. Ok understood. Burrell I could go for if it would come cheap. He would be a great upgrade at RF. But I would still want Soriano as well.

  17. That's cool. It looks like our biggest "targets" are this pitcher Koruda, Schmidt, and Soriano. I can live with that. Hopefully we get atleast 2 of them, and explore trades to fill any holes we couldn't via FA. Anyway, isn't Schmidt highly regarded as an injury risk here on NSBB? Because of his age, injury history, and recent usage patterns?
  18. Haha. That's great. I wonder what he thinks of over 30,000 people coming out everyday now. Higher unemployment rates? :D Yep. Well, we are living in a worse #M@(#*3 #^
  19. The first day? Nov. 11th (?). The date Cubs will actually sign anyone. Jan 31st. :D
  20. Wait. Now common, that was a joke, right? RIGHT? aHA I KNEW it!!
  21. My god, the cardinals won the world $^<(!# series. .
  22. Ok what would JH say when we ask him. . "Why did you let guys like Matsuzaka, Schmidt, Soriano, and Carlos Lee pass you buy, but instead re-signed Neifi Perez for 3yr/30mil and Suppan to 5yr/50mil?"
