  1. I'm sorry, BBB, but if Hendry fails to bring in some good pitching this off season, I don't think you'll have anyone to argue with when it comes to Hendry's effectiveness. He's going to get some pitching. I'm just not sure if you're going to like what he gets. The Cubs just need some reliable effective pitchers. If we end up with Zambrano, a #3, a #4, and two #5's. I don't care. Atleast we won't be relying on rookies and men like Rusch and Williams. It's the NL central for heavens sake. Just give me Meche, Weston, Zambrano, Hill, and Miller and a good offense and I'll be happy.
  2. Important question. Is this last years stats, or carreer stats. And what is the lowest # of at bats (in other words taking all of them, how long has each played)?
  3. Lugo gets on base more than Jacque Jones. But, I don't want him to play CF, either. Right, if he replaces Izturis. YES PLEASE!! He is much more guaranteed to have around .340 OBP or so. Izturis, only if 2005 was because of injuries and 2006 was his true ability. . In other words, luck. And the cubs don't have that. .
  4. Alph. . . . alph. . . . . . . . aaaaalph. .. . . ALPH ALPH!! bom bum bom bum bom bum bom. . Alph. . . alph. . . . Alph. . . ALPH ALPH!!
  5. BWAHAHAHAHA Oh man. Please just let it not be us. All signs point that way since we seem to be looking at everybody under the sun, BUT Pierre, for CF. .
  6. Well, on every site I read at, DeRosa was projected to make a little bit more than Helms-so the fact Helms made 2.75 million makes the DeRosa deal look even a little bit better. I do agree on the third year thing though. It's not like he's ancient. Remember we were saying simular things about Jones last year. And look how that panned out. Maybe their scouts saw something about him we do not. Maybe they see, he can put up those #'s again.
  7. DeRosa < Walker Walker < DeRosa. Walker ^ DeRosa Walker - DeRosa = Neifi.
  8. DeRosa < Walker Walker < DeRosa.
  9. Now if Lou is smart, and I think he is. If Theroit has a decent spring and makes the team as the bench backup. Then he will have Derossa play atleast a good portion of Jones games in RF when facing LHP and Theroit takes 2nd on those days. It could work out very well and get some decent #'s out of those positions if Lou decides to do that. .
  10. You actually forgot Hill, who in m eyes, if this works out well he could be a very dominating #2 quality starter. Now ofcourse I think it will end up more like this. Just taking a stab at it. . Zambrano Hill Cliff Lee Lily Miller/Prior/younguns I meant to throw him with either the Prior or Marshall group. Or I don't, maybe he can net us a good bat in a trade. But you're right, otherwise he would be in there. I think Hill is going to be very good, and that Miller will be fully ready for the '07 season. That should not share a spot. Instead should be considered #4 and #5. With Prior not even in the #5 spot. Prepare the season as if he was not here. If he is, and he's ON. And you need to find a spot for him. . Well then that's a problem I don't mind having.

  12. That looks pretty decent to me. You? (with pitching improvements ofcourse)
  13. I'd rather have derosa at 4.3 than neifi at 2.5. Honestly. Well, DeRosa fits more of the Walker role and Izturis is the nu-Neifi. My point is we've barely improved the middle infield, if at all, at too much cost. Oh I agree. Not much improvement. However if he can just be Walker + good defense then I don't mind this move too much. I however would have rather seen a bigger signing before focusing on such a miniscule improvement. . I don't think there's a snow ball's chance in hell that DeRosa will match Walker's offensive production. And I honestly don't know. Just hope. Atleast we know where you stand. :)

  16. NESN is their tv station. I honesty don't care. :)
  17. Alot of posters on the redsox board are claiming they heard it's official. on NESN network. I guess it's their radio sports show over dere. .
  18. Theriot will certainly regress, but he's young enough to be learning still. Derosa will be 32 next February. He's not going to get any better. Bingo. BINGO! AGREED! WHAMMO!! You've WON a new CAR!! Overexaggerate any? It's common knowledge, not some spectacular secret. what Sorry. I've been reading this WHOLE thread. All the arguing tends to get on my nerves. And I hate it when someone simply says the word, BINGO!! Wohooo!! yeah, BINGO! My appologies to sockerk.

  22. s-s-s-s-solid number twoooo. Huh huh. .
  23. Then they are highly overating Giles. No thanks. That's funny, coming from you. As you can tell. I wanted Giles AND Giles last year. But not this year. There are good options on the FA front in Durham/Lugo, ect. Where we wouldn't have to give up a Marshall or a Patterson (two of whom I'd expect just a L-i-ttle better than Giles in return). .
  24. We THINK we have an above average LF. Hey, I love Murt as much as the next guy, but C Lee approached 3X the HR and 2X the RBI of Murton this past season. If we add a big bat in Soriano or JD then I agree to leave Murton in LF, but until then I upgrade my power numbers wherever I can get them. What about platooning Murt and JJ in RF? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7597 See the LF comparisons box. We have an above average LF. And we have CF empty, and a RF who can't hit lefties. No 2B and a risk at SS, and 2 SP vacancies. CF RF 2B SS P P Those are the positions we need to improve or replace. I love the idea of Carlos Lee. But he just doesn't fit with what we need right now. .
