  1. Has this guy been right alot in the past? I'll say one thing, I like Rich Hill. And he DID look dominating for several starts in a row last year. YOU ALL SAW IT too.
  2. I like Murph. Just like listening to my uncle. Just a crazy Cubs fan on the radio. Atleast he ain't like booers and dumbstein who when getting in an arguement calls his callers dumb and morons and thinks he is RIGHT no matter how many times he is wrong, and cuts off his callers so he can call them MORONS.
  3. They have a long way to go before they even become a playoff contender in '07, before even thinking about them winning a WS. The Cubs still have to improve the product on the current field now. And they'll have to improve the future product from within the system. They can do both and it'll be easier for them to improve the product short-term, but to maintain long-term success they have to improve the farm system. I'll be happy them using short term fixes to win us deserving a WS, NOW. And go through a handful of years fixing the team up from within. That's my whole point. I want a ws SOON and I like what they are doing NOW.
  4. We've only improved at one of the outfield spots. Jones is still Jones(and '07 Jones is likely to be worse than '06 Jones) even if he moves to a different position. Also, DeRosa is far from a guarantee to be an upgrade over our 2B production in '06(.274/.326/.411/.737). Nope. 1B = Lee > no Lee RF = Soriano > Jones CF = Jones > Pierre 2B = Derosa > Neifi, Bynum, Walker, Cedeno P = Have already said they are getting 2 more pitchers. And the off-season is not even HALF over yet. I mean my gosh people. Jim is STILL going to go out and get some pitchers, he might even replace Izturis with Lugo. For heavens sake admit we are better and we're not even done yet!
  5. Would you like to win the world series in 2007 or in 2015? Just curious. The Cubs are taking the steps to improve the farm system now. I'd just like to know if you would rather win in 2007, 2008, or would you rather complain that we are spending too much money?
  6. We've improved at RF, CF, and 2B and some people still aren't happy. That's the way of the world sometimes. :-k
  7. His face has fattened. I wouldn't worry or expect to see that in ST.
  8. Hehehehe. Yes I know that I was doing that to show how much I hate that stupid #*!$. DING DING DING DING DING!! Come again? Imagine someone annoyed by someone saying DING DING DING DING DING. Imagine my angry face sarcastically yelling DING DING DING DING DING!!! Understand?
  9. Lugo is a much larger upgrade over Izturis than guys like Meche, Batista, and Marquis would be over Guzman/Marshall/Mateo/Marmol. Why wouldn't we want to spend the money where it would help us most? Yes but the dumb butts (JH and Mcdunnough) want him for CF as far as we've all heard. And he's gonna cost 4 years $32 million. Do you really want to give THAT much to Lugo? If the Cubs are to spend that type of money over 3-4 years I'd rather they got an impact pitcher that could really boister the pitching staff. Like Schmidt or Westbrook (yes I know he must sign an extension)

  11. DING DING DING DING DING!!!
  12. How about we get SP before we go spending oh ~$20 mil on players like Lugo, Kearns, Church. We don't have an unlimted budget people. We need to get 2 pitchers before we even worry about who else to get offensively.
  13. Ok, no team contending for play-offs should have an 8 game winning streak. If you have a 40% winning percentage. It wont' matter if you have 10 8 game loosing streaks. . ok, and we weren't contending last season. In 2003 we had no long losing streaks (or winning streaks, we were improbably unstreaky). In 2004 we had none longer than 5 games. In 2005, when we didn't contend, we had 2 8 games, 1 7 game. I wonder why a positive mental attitude doesn't create long winning streaks Or was 2003 a bad chemistry year? The long loosing streaks was sort of a side remark. I don't think you'll see that with Piniella this year. I wasn't comparing it to positive mental attitude. You did that.
  14. Kaplan also quoted unnamed agents as saying that Hendry's presentation was the best he'd ever seen and that Hendry's rep among players (past and present) helped seal the deal. Lou was active in this recruiting process and also met with Soriano separately. Hendry says he'll be pursuing pitching. As I posted earlier, there's some speculation that they wanted to sign Soriano early to boost credibility and improve there chances with potential FAs, such as Schmidt. hmmm schmidt? now your talking!!!! :D I mean honestly. If you were shmidt. And Hendry came to you with his plan to win. Then you look at the Cubs line-up now. With Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, Barret, Jones in it, wouldn't you think you'd have a good chance to win here? Would the "winning" play a part in wanting to come over? The difference between not re-signing Ramirez. To now having Ramirez, Lee, AND Soriano. Makes this team look MUCH more attractive to FAs.

  16. Apparently all the money they made last year didn't make they play hard. Funny what a little optomism and a coach that demands playing hard every day can do. My point is there has got to be alot of positive energy around the club with the direction this off-season is going. Positive energy is a good thing. Martha Stewart, is that you? 8) Sorry to dissapoint. You don't agree with that? Having a positive attitude influences your performance. Haven't you ever heard that? You go into an interview nervous, you really need the job, and you try hard not to goof up, but your nervousness shows. You go into an interview knowing you are the best person for the job, and your confidence shows. Same thing in sports. If you are nervous at the plate and in a slump you will continue to be in a slump. If you go up to bat confident in your skills, you will get better results. I am just taking that into a bigger picture of the whole Cubs team. The players will be more confident and more energized about their team. Because of adding important peices like Soriano, a Schmidt or a Westbrook. And they will perform better. That is all. There is some psychology in proffesional sports. Long slumps, long loosing streaks. There is no reason any team should ever have a 8 game loosing streak. We've had alot of those the last few years.

  18. Why worry about what they were thinking then? This is NOW buddy. And I love the red pill.
  19. main page http://www.cubs.com you can hear hendry make phone/press responses and a soriano press call is up now too. The soriano one has like 2 minutes of the press just fooling around before he comes on. It's not "cut" very well.
