  1. whats better than a $100 mil train wreck? a $140 mil train wreck seriously though, im beginning to think Hendry might actually have a plan that includes fielding a winning team for 2007 Scary isn't it? Hendry with a plan? It'd be a little like GW Bush with a plan...no wait, not that scary :) you might could dupe me into believing JH has a plan(in fact im almost there), but W? i aint that gullible GW does have a plan. :just do what Cheney tells me, and read what's on the cards:
  2. A very good trade. I don't know about "very good." It's a "meh" trade at best. Not really. Aardsama could be good. Cotts has been good. And really good too. I think he would be very attractive to other teams for a trade. So this is just another small, quick move, which gives JH more good cards for trades. I like it alot. BTW I WIN!!! I toooold yooououououououu-u-uououou!!!!
  3. It's a left handed specialist designed to get out lefty batters. And you usually only use him for 1 at-bat - 1 full inning, no more.
  4. I've heard 15 as a start for Soriano and as much as 17/18. Obviously 16 is more attractive than 18, from a team standpoint. But Drew is still the better option, in my mind. Especially if it's "just" 14. Drew $$ wise right between Lee and Aram. Does he deserve it? What else does have have besides his 20 HR and .390 OBP. I just haven't checked his stats thoroughly. Does he hit alot of doubles or something?
  5. Oh my, how can you make innocent little smiley face guy do such a thing? I have powers well beyond what your mind can envision. Do not anger me or you will face my twisted smiley wrath! So do I. http://www.ganjatalk.com/forum/images/smilies/booty.gif
  6. We don't need him to stay healthy, we need him to be healthy most of the time. I think in a 5 year deal, you'd get at least 3 semi-full to full seasons out of him. And then 2 of the seasons he's going to miss some games. But that's probably why you can get him for around $14m, when Soriano might get $17-18m. I just wanted to note this part. If you check the original article expecting around 6/96 max. 96 divded by 6 = 16. Not 17 or 18. Does that look a little more attractive to you?
  7. All those numbers does us no good if he can't stay healthy. As many others here have stated, the last three years he has played 145+ in two of them. His missed time in 2005 was due to a broken wrist on a HBP, not exactly your "injury-prone player" type of injury. I AM for Drew just let me say that. But. . . that reminds me we were saying the exact same things about Prior, remember?
  8. Good lord me too. It's hell on my schoolwork, especially with the ginormous essay I have due tomorrow. :? I admit it's nice that there always seems to be a new post almost every minute. But wouldn't just listening to sports radio be a little easier, and quicker? Lord knows it would be easier on the tendonitis.
  9. http://www.juneauempire.com/images/100602/crow.jpg You'll eat it? I was thinking more along the lines of sending me $10 or somethin. , thanks for the laugh. I needed that. :P
  10. Piniella = tanned, rested, ready, angrier, beardless Cubs Santa oooow. Sig worthy!!

  12. Guess your right. He still seems to be going at full speed, and much faster than in any previous off-season. Of course he is. He has more money than ever, and his substantial butt is on the line. Just the way I like it! And it's because of that I guarantee someone else will be signed by friday.
  13. Guess your right. He still seems to be going at full speed, and much faster than in any previous off-season.
  14. Hey give me a break. I just said he'll sign somebody by friday.
  15. JH is on a roll. H and Piniella are ready to roll. Just watch and see. Someone else will be signed not even a day or two after DeRosa.
  16. DING DING DING DING!! Sorry, with the excitement, it is hard to think straight right now. I can almost guarantee the Cubs will sign someone else by Friday.
  17. Why? It's not like either will be worth their contracts. The Cubs need pitching, and will have to overpay to get it. Still, Zito and Schmidt want BIG contracts and both have major flaws, and really...Zito isn't even all that good. Plus, both of them have pretty big limits as to where they actually want to go. I'd rather trade for some above average pitchers like Weston, and sign some like Lily and Igawa. And just build and incredible offense around that. . Who's this Weston fella you speak of? Probably a mispelling of one of two pitchers available for trade. (ok someone, go ahead, humiliate me. How far was I off?)
  18. The thought of a blank check makes you think Lugo? Yep, because it's a smart budget oriented move. Look the payroll isn't going to be unlimited. Maybe we go up to $130, who knows. But ditching Izturis and filling SS with Lugo is a very SOLID move. Top that with Drew in CF and we have a really high team OBP. Maybe I was too quick. . . Give me Drew, Soriano, and Lugo!! Better?
  19. The Cubs have been linked with alot of nice names already. Soriano, Lugo, Meche, Weston, Drew. . And not just linked. But linked as "aggressively pursuing". . I have been saying this since Piniella joined on. All the signs point to the Tribune or someone high up (say Mcdunnough) wanting to win for the fans. Or to be more attractive to buyers. I don't care how you want to spin it. But the Cubs are going to pay big this off-season to win. Sure Hendry will still sign alot of mediocre players like Blanco. But this time the "Payroll is not going to keep us from winning". .

  21. love love love love. Just give me drew and lugo and I don't care how many mediocre but dependable SP you get.
  22. I knew the Cubs were going to go all out in the off-season as soon as I heard Mcdunnough say "it's time to win the world series". The rumors of the $115 mil payroll just upped it abit.
  23. Hell it gives me one too. Go ahead and say it! I'm bonerized about Drew.
