    NSBB is just like elementary school! Agreed. And just think, last offseason everyone was going wild over some barely PG-13 photos of attractive women. This offseason, it's cookies and egg nog. Next year.....?     I will take the under. As will nearly everyone else. Yeah me too, probably (betting wise). However, I would NOT be shocked if when the bid was announced, it was an amount over $20 mil. do you guys want to bid 20 mil for Igawa?, even though it doesnt make a difference to the payroll. That's a hard question. I haven't actually put any thought into if I'd be mad or not if the Cubs didn't win, if the bid was over $20 mil. No probably not upset. I would only be upset in that, at the end of the off-season, we have not added 2 more average-above average pitchers.

    Not so bold prediction. With the amount mediocre pitching is getting, matsuzaka got, and the pitching market in general. This guy, Igawa. The winning posting bid will be $22-$30 mil. Just watch.

    I don't understand this whole idea of "solid investments". . It's not like you can't still wear a Zambrano jersey if he is no longer with the team or has injuries. He is still the MAN and a great cub! Same thing for your prior and wood jerseys. I'd be wearing a wood jersey right now if I already had one. The man came back for less because he is a Cub! And don't through those Prior jersey's away yet either!

    Because when Soriano steals a bag, it's really hurting our offense! :roll: That's as silly a response as "Because when Soriano strikes out, it's really helping out offense! :roll: " Neither of these statements have anything to do with what he posted. try harder. He obviously didn't understand what I meant by that. I subscribe to the feeling having a nagging threat on the bases clogs a pitchers mind. If you or he do not agree with that, please don't mock with your holier than though attitute and talk to posters like they are dumb just because they beleive something other than what you THINK you know is true.

    I just don't get why those who subscribe to the new way of baseball thinking have such a hard time conveying their message. wait...yes I do. Yes, because personal insults is the way to get YOUR point across. No offense. But your first response to me could be viewed as a tongue in cheek "mockery" insult. And I think that's his point, if not his it's mine. No need to insult people who do not feel the way you do, ok?

    Well the difference is, of course, that we'll have Soriano for 2 years more than the Astros will have C Lee. If they both produce like this for 4 more years, well then the Astros only have 2 decline years to deal with, while we have 4. Of course, if we can win a World Series in those productive years, I'll manage to get over it. I should also think that Soriano's skills will decline less steeply, if only b/c he appears to keep himself in better shape than Lee. However, conversely, Soriano depends on speed for his game, which obviously declines with age, whereas Lee does not. I don't get this at all. you just posted a point that the two players are similar, making no reference to speed whatsoever. now the point of speed comes up and Soriano's game is based on speed? was Soriano's speed relevant in the 46 times he could have walked around the bases last year? Yeah, what does his running game have to do with the fact that he hits for power? He's not Pierre for the love of G-d. All things said, it's still nice to have that speed threat on the bases on the one spot. You've upgraded lead-of from Pierre to a guy who hits alot of home runs and has great slugging for those many times men will be on base in front of him, yet still offers that speed threat.

    I've always felt you should have a jersey that just says CUBS. Not advertise or smooch all over just ONE player. But. I'm gonna order me a Ramirez jersey. Seriously. That guy is such a cub at heart, he declined millions of dollars to come back to us. I feel the love man. ::orders ramirez jersey::

    I've always defended hendry up until now on OBP. Pointing to Derrek Lee, Barret, Ramirez, Murton, all having above average OBP. Thinking Dusty's nagging about speed rubbed off on Jim too much. But I don't think there's anything Jim can say to back off of that last statement. He has no clue that OBP is not directly connected to AVG and that a high OBP is much more important than a high AVG.

    I agree...Atleast we know there is no way in hell we can be as bad as last season...Im a surprised with all Hendry has done so far, and its only a day after thanksgiving..There will be plenty more to come,especially around the winter meetings...Only if Jason Schmidt accepts the 3 year/45 mil contract Hendry offered him...Id prolly cry then I dont know what.. What, where?

    I'd take Maddux back for $5 mil. But as has probably already been said. He'd go back to LA if anywhere. It all depends on how much Maddux wants to win a world series with the chicago cubs. We're in better shape to give him that at this point with a renewed offense.

    I don't know if I'd call his first few moves smart. Getting Ramirez was pretty solid. His other two signings are only starting to look better after seeing the market unfold a bit. I wonder how much he actually was held back by MacPhail/Baker and how much of this was his own doing. Only time will tell. He still has a lot left to do this offseason before I'd consider him "smart". What are you kidding me!?!?! The DUMB Hendry SET the market this year by overpaying for Soriano, and he did the same thing last year. HE is the one who set the market at overpriced. He also still is dumb and doesn't know what OBP is. So Hendry is dumb and always will be dumb. :roll: (sarcastic post people :lol: )
