  1. Cubs brass plantin the seed baby!! Preparing us for our new 3B!!
  2. I'm not so sure about that. I don't think Juan really wants to stay. Espically since Baker is gone. That may prompt Hendry to overbid though and that worries me. C'mon! When was the last time the Cubs out-bidded anyone! Neifi, Rusch, Jones, Howry, Eyre, Dempster...the list is long and lamentable. Outbid means other teams also made a bid. No, it means our bids were so far over the top no one even tried. All of those guys would have had jobs in the bigs. Someone would have paid them. Wait a sec! Howry and Erye in hindsight weren't bad deals at all. Farnsworth got 3/17 and Looper got 13.5 million! The Cubs actually did pretty well by signing them early... And Jones actually performed pretty well for what he is getting. So you have to shorten that list to Neifi, Rusch, and Dempster. Even though with his performance last year someone would have probably gave Dempster more. Neifi and Rusch are the only 2 really stupid "pre-bid/overbid" players JH screwed himself on.
  3. I want to start Hills last game of the season!! http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/433657.jpg up against!!!!!! http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/448179.jpg
  4. Ok NOW it's depressing. Thank you very much.
  5. I think our slogan this year should be. . . "THERE'S SOMEONE WORSE THAN US!! THERE'S SOMEONE WORSE THAN US!!"
  6. Hey, atleast it's interesting.
  7. Oh common guys  ! You gotta just have fun with it! Like these guys!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMMhL23Wif4
  8. We're just a few good moves away from competing. . Zambrano Clemens Zito Shmidt Hill
  9. And that is still $5 too much! If I bought it. I'd ask the gas station for a refund on my gas, a refund for parking, and I'd sue the Cubs $1,000,000 for wasting a day of my life and giving me serious trauma.
  10. When you sing a hoedown the words have to fit Your words were quite long and with me they do not sit To fit inside the jingle, and fit inside the song, they have. . to be short, and yours were really really long!!! Thanks for joining in though!!
  11. Oh No one's joining my Hoedown, It makes me really really sad, It makes me think, That I'm really really bad, I'm not actually drunk, even though Garwilly thinks, I'm singin all by myself here, and this really really stinks!!
  12. Please don't give this idea too much credit. Dusty sucks, the players suck, Hendry sucks, MacPhail suck, the Cubs suck. This recent article is just more proof of excuse making and not taking responsibility. It's from the TRIBUNE correct? It's just ANOTHER one of a tirelesa amount of planted articles from this orginazations blaming EVERYthing else on this living planet except the truth. They suck!!
  13. Marshall's exit. 3 full innings/ over under? I take under. .
  14. I have my doubts about that. I think the odds of Wood being a good reliever next year are at least as good as Miller being a good starter. OH YEAH!!? :D
  15. Disregarding what has happened the past 2 or 3 seasons is exactly why the Cubs are in the predicament they are currently in. 17 moderatly successful innings should never be the determining factor in any baseball decision. Not highly considering what has happened THIS SEASON has been a determining factor on why they are so bad the next season. That was the case in 2005, and will also be the case in 2006 if they count on Wood or Prior to do anything more than deliver pizzas. Giving Wade Miller a $2 mil + incentives contract is a much less risky move than wasting $2-3 mil on Wood to do nothing but sit on the bench all year.
  16. It's a good point. It's only 3 starts, but the guy has already rebounded much quicker and further than Prior or Wood did. What? Much quicker than Prior did? He was out for over a year. He's missed most of 3 straight seasons. My arguement is for next season. I do not care what happened 2 or 3 seasons ago. Who seems the most ready to contribute next year out of the 3? It's certainly not Prior or Wood based on my observations. Because I haven't observed Prior or Wood do much of anything. .
  17. I don't drink. If you can't rhyme, here's a dime, go buy some time. You've ruined the flow of the hoedown and the audience is now booing you off the stage.
  18. The 2006 Chicago Cubs Hoedown. Comeon, join in!! Oh I am a Cubs fan, I really really am, I must admit, we're really in a jam, But one things for Certain, of this you can be sure, we'll all be alot happier, when Dusty's shown the door! (dum dum dum, do didi, do didi, do didi, do do dO. .) <- please lead the next poster into their turn.
  19. And just like an onion, we cry more and more as each layer is peeled.
  20. I'd rather count on Miller than having Wood back in the pen. Wade Miller is rehabing and pitching in games NOW, and looking decent without his full velocity. Kerry Wood is still not able to pitch in game situations and spring training starts in FIVE MONTHS. Who's closer to be able to pitch in MLB games? Answer: Wade Miller.
  21. No. I could root for Manny, I could even root for Edmonds in cubbie blue. But Bonds would seriously make me consider not being a Cubs fan, atleast for a year. Did you cheer for Sosa when he was on the Cubs? Sure did. Sosa hasn't said near the monstrosities that have come out of Bond's mouth. Sosa was an egomaniac but he wasn't a racist, spiteful devil like Bond's is.
  22. No. I could root for Manny, I could even root for Edmonds in cubbie blue. But Bonds would seriously make me consider not being a Cubs fan, atleast for a year. I would root for Manny. I would root for Edmonds. Under no circumstances would I EVER pull for Bonds on the Cubs unless the World Series was on the line. He's the only player like that. That's it. I feel it now. We are getting Bonds and we are winning the world series. Talk about curses. The curse is true. And that's how it would probably happen.
  23. see, my problem with this answer is that Hill doesn't profile as a #4/5. Over the course of his minor league career, he's either been great or awful. His stuff is just too strong to project as a #4/5. Either he's a #2/3 or he's a minor leaguer. I can see arguments for either, but I can't see him falling in the middle. Well the guy said to pencil Prior in also. That would make you think he would be back and better than Hill. Z is better than Hill. Now we just gotta sign Zito and Schmidt and bang, Hill is a 5 on a damn good team. I don't mind "pencil"ing Hill in as a #3. As long as Zambrano is the #1, zito or schmidt are the #2, Wade Miller is the #4, and Prior is the #5.
  24. Well the Cubs don't actually play baseball. So, oh well. .
  25. Hell forget that. I'd feel like I struck it rich if they just paid me the $100,000 buy-out. . . . . damn. .
