  1. Without Kerry and a ? on Prior? Deffinatly. They (JH) know that we are in dire need of Picthing. If Miller imrpoves he might look good as a possible #4 #5 quality guy. JH still needs to out out there and get that bonified Ace like starter. . Or how about long relief? Surely he's an upgrade over someone like Rusch. Walrond is an upgarde over somebody like Rusch. I'd rather have Miller as a #4 or #5. I honestly think he has the stuff to be a quality guy. If he looks able to add another MPH or 2 on his FB in the offseason then he will be pretty decent in '07, I think. .
  2. Why get rid of Murton who is progressing quite nicely in power and OBP and could realistically put up a .360 OBP next year and "possibly" a .370 OBP next year. And hit 10-20 HR for $450k and replace him who admitedly hits alot of HR but has about the same OBP or only slightly better than Murton. It's not a huge upgrade besides power. I'd rather upgrade positions which are really weak, like RF, CF, 2B, or SS.

  4. Problem is, does he like the cubs and appreciate them enough that he will feel inclined to repay them by accepting a 1 year incentive based deal. If so, I'm for it. How likely is that he'll accept? I'd say about 40%.
  5. Agreed. Also, for the past 2 years his avg has been about .260(.385 obp in 2005 and 356 obp this year) and def a little shy from .270 which pecota projects. IMO, Edmonds shouldn't even be an option. He is the epitome of anti-Cub. i don't understand what "anti-cub"means. and i also don't understand how he won't be much better than pierre. If you don't understand what anti-cub means I don't know what to tell you. okay, so you don't know what it means either, i'm glad we got that settled. It means he hates the Cubs, if you honestly didn't know what that meant. i'm pretty sure he could forget any hate with a big contract. same goes for kline. I honestly think he would never want to come with the Cubs. But if he got some ridiculous offer (like $13 mil or something), then yes even hatred can't get in the way of fortune. However we won't offer him anywhere close enough to what he'd want, even if he liked the Cubs.
  6. "So Dusty, Who's on first?" "Nobody, Jim. We wouldn't want to clog the bases." That would be a stand up team impersonating Jim and Dusty.
  7. While true, I think you got Prior's name switched. . Z ????? Hill Miller Prior Atleast you've got quality youngons this time around in Mateo and Marshall who might beable to pick up some #5 slack when needed. .

  9. Jim, I think its time to look at door #2. Door #2, IMO, is putting Prior in that 5 slot. If our 5th pitcher pitches like an ace, all the better! Yeah, I can live with a pair of Aces. And Ace can Club a Duece. But an Ace hitter can Jack one out of the Diamond.
  10. OOOooooh. . . WHO dropped the soap. WHO dropped the soap YEAH, who dropped the soap. . I uh, am not singing about edmonds. I'm singing about dusty, because he doesn't clean behind the ears. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Mr. "I hate the Cubs" signed with them and became a fan favorite. ;)
  11. Just stay away Wrigleyfield, stay away.
  12. PS, I'm all for Drew, too.
  13. We SHOULD be looking to upgrade 2nd base. Could Nomar play 2nd base ok? Because if he can he actually fits one of our needs, right now. An offensive upgrade at 2b.
  14. When was this, what happened? September, 2004, when his 2 HRs accounted for all the Cubs runs in a win over the Pirates. It happened seconds after this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/CXC109091423_lower.jpg Story?
  15. Jim Ed-dumbs doesn't like chicago and chicago doesn't like him. Don't worry. 0% chance.
  16. When was this, what happened?
  17. aHA! . . . . . . so our theory still holds up.
  18. It's extra innings! And it's quite stinky!
  19. So you don't want to rely on Hill as more than a #5, but will do so with Prior as a possible #3 or 4? Call US crazy for counting on Hill. Let me ask you, what has PRIOR shown this year that he can be counted on as more than a #5 (if we are lucky he's healthy)? It just seems a little inconsistant of you to call us out for penciling in Hill as atleast a #4 yet count on Prior as even as high as a #3 as you just stated above. When did I say Hill should only be #5? As of right now, I want him to be the #4 and Prior ideally the #3. And where did I call anyone crazy recently for counting on Hill? I think you're mixing me up with someone else in this thread. Besides, I'm obviously not basing my opinion/hopes about Prior on much of anything he did this year. I'd be a nut to do that. I'm basing it on past performance and subtracting the two onfield injuries, this is the only year where he's been sidelined like this and for this long. Contrary to what people seem to want to think, this is not usual for him. You're right. Cubbiechris said this "There's a lesson to be learned here. Hill should be counted on nothing more but a 5th starter.". I got you confused. Sorry. Right now I count on Prior as a bonus. Hill I would actually bump above Prior, but for health reasons only. Prior could be a #2 if healthy. Hill could be a #3, 4 if healthy. Key word health, and Prior has the dice thrown against him.
  20. Dusty will talk about the rain. And honestly, the Dodgers had their fair share of errors too. So he might have a point.
  21. Does it matter? Sure does, Cubs are in the running for the #1 draft pick! That's what I'm saying. So don't hope for a hit. Too late anyway.
