  1. I agree...Until we can get someone to replace him, let's hang on and try to sign him. Let's give him a no trade clause so he can never be traded for his 7 year $18 mil a year contract .
  2. Dude is set for a breakdown in the next couple of years thanks to Dusty. greg maddux pitched under dusty too. How often was he on the DL? I'm not saying Dusty didn't abuse pitchers, but to trade arguably your team MVP based on a maybe seems like a terrible, terrible idea On a "maybe"? You mean a "maybe" like Tejada and someone lide Beddard?
  3. Very good work. However you didn't do the road games so this doesn't quite work as a fridge schedule. And you need to add a ST TV+Radio schedule when it becomes available. Overall I give you a B+. 8-)
  4. So you do you think will be the likely "7th inning pat replacement guy" now that masur is gone? I got used to his voice so it really didn't bother me. But he wasn't really exciting. . On a side note. It's gonna be so great to hear ron interviewing lou instead of dusty on the pre-game show. And refering to him, as the "fine fine, manager of the chicago cubs, lou piniella". .
  5. I mean it's just a number. Common. Sammy can STILL be remembered fondly. And his number can STILL be retired with respect. Give it a few years and I think sammy and the cubs will be on good terms again. And hopefully have a respectful # retiring ceremony. I think it's silly to quable over this like it's a huge disprespect to sammy or something. .
  6. Maybe, but if he does well he won't need to be gone-he's certainly proven before that he can do well, just as he's proven he can do horribly. Instead of automatically trying to get rid of him, why not hope he can pitch well first? There you go. Well written. That's how I feel. I want Jason to do well like he has done a few times in the past. Would you honestly be unhappy if this guy put up an ERA in the low 4's and went out there every 5th day? That's what I'm rooting for. And I don't care what # he is wearing. He's a Cub now, and I want the BEST of jason marquis, not the worst. And a good way to do that is to try to show your support to him as a cubs fan. By cheering for him when he does well. Not worrying about a # he is wearing.
  7. Does a parent have to support all of their childrens' decisions? No. Just because posters disagree with this decision does not mean they do not want him to do well. I'm just saying, don't go out and boo him his first day just because he is wearing no. 21. I don't want to see a stadium full of 10-20 thousand booing because of the # he is wearing.
  8. Oh no, Marquis is wearing 21. I'd better boo him profusely the first time I see him. Instead of rooting for him to do well. Yeah, that should work. . Honestly, if you guys want the Cubs to go far, you should support each and every Cub.
  9. I'll miss his voice atleast. Just like anything, you get used to something, and you hate to see it go. Who will take over for Pat on the 7th inning from now on? Or will Pat just have to stop taking elongated bathroom breaks during the 7th?
  10. I thought it was a bet between Wade Miller and Bud Selig. I thought "Who the heck is Wade to beable to challenge mr. bud selig? And what's he gonna bet. That the Cubs win the world series this year?". .
  11. Wait! ::reads script:: Yes. He gets another Shot! (lamented cubs fans) - Oh yes, he does he does. .
  12. That would be AWESOME!! ha ha. Won't happen though. . St. Louis is a SMART orginazation. .
  13. God, I wish it were 4/2. .
  14. I am. I haven't gone for years. But I find this team deffinatly worthy of watching live. .

  16. I would agree with that statement if he wasn't going into the last year of his contract. If he can't be resigned to a long term contract, you risk losing him anyway, therefore he isn't "untouchable". I would love to keep Zambrano if he truely loves the Cubs, he will give a hometown discount. But he can not be considered anywhere near "santana" status right now. . 2004 could be called his only true "stellar" ace-like year. . It's been downhill since then. . In 2004 we had about 3-4 pitchers all just slightly above 3.5 ERA. And it could be that way again with all the pitching depth and young talent close to the ML. Zambrano ------------ 2003 - 3.11 ERA 2004 - 2.75 ERA 2005 - 3.25 ERA 2006 - 3.41 ERA Yeah, I'd give Santana that money, he's had 3 years in a row with an ERA below 3.0. But not Zambrano.
  17. He needs a theme song. 8-)
  18. Not a fair comparison. Z has a history of being healthy, Wood didn't. So you feel comfortable giving Z 7 years, 18 mil a year. Of course not. But how do you know that's what's he's asking? There was an article, zam's agent came out and said zam wanted 18 mil for 6-7 years. Ofcourse that's how they work, ask high. But I'm just sayin. If it came to paying 17-18 mil a year for 6-7 years, would you do that? Or would you rather have a-rod. That's really the discussion of this thread.

  20. Hey where's that video from? I want to see that, it looks like one of those spin-off shows "america's got talent". .
  21. I'd do it, but only if what Mojo says is true. And only because it is very uncomfortable giving that much money for that long of a time to a pitcher. Look what happened to us and Wood. Not saying it's gonna happen to Zambrano. But he has been overworked and has had some sparadic back problems. . IF Prior is Prior, Miller turns out ok, and Hill us an uprising star, then yes I would rather be giving that kind of money to Arod than Zambrano, even though I love the guy. We've got Smardzija and some young guys who will deffinatly be contributing to the big league club in a couple of years. It all boils down to me feeling it's less of a risk to pay Arod that money than Zambrano. .
  22. It's great to hear, from a pitcher who relied so heavily on striking out batters in the minors, that there's value to saving pitches. He just figured this out? Did Greg Maddux need to tell him this? yeah, what a loser. i wish he were dead. Thank you for that valuable comment. Did I strike a nerve? Or were you just trying to fulfill your 8 post-a-day quota? I think he struck a nerve. you sounded mad in your post. Ask yourself, are you HONESTY mad at rich hill? Because you sounded mad. It was just silly sarcasm, no need to go crazy. :D

  24. You can download games onto your computer? How? MLB Digital Downloads. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/video/dds_sell.jsp If you search around you can find the buying links for regular season games from last season. I just downloaded one of the Cubs september games a few weeks ago. The quality isnt great. 400x300, which really SUCKS because they are DRM protected, so i cant convert them to 320x240 and send them to my Zen Vision:M and since theyre DRM WMV's (which my Zen can play) but I need the 320x240 size at max. Maybe I could contact MLB.com and see if they can get a smaller resolution. WBC games last season from digital downloads were 320x240 and work fine. Id love to be able to watch some old Cubs gems during class :( You got a favorite Hill game? I liked the matchup against cart on 8-26 but ofcourse I didn't like that they lost. BTW people that's what I was talking about, and they are $3.99 a pop. Expensive, but if it's a REALLY good game, it's worth it to me. .
