  1. First: You can't tell me you go 100% everyday at your place of business? I'm sure there are days in which you "half arse" just to get through the day. Second: Unlike your job, there is MAJOR money involved here. If ARam is busting his butt down the line, in a meaningless game, would you still feel good---not that it matters, it is ARam who has to look at himself in the mirror---about it? I rather ARam pick and choose when to bust down the line, instead of busting down the line on a simple ground ball, and get hurt. Aram isn't the only player that doesn't play 100% all the time, so either attack every player in baseball for not going "100%" or get off ARam's back. Just read that over again. Think about it. Maybe emmocions would help. . I want a very important and slow player with a history of leg injuries to sprint out every ground ball on the microscopic chance he may beat out a throw. When he goes down with the inevitable leg injury and misses 30 games, I'll feel good about it  because I give 100% at my job every single second and so should he.
  2. Kerry being a bullpen guy is different than Kerry the starter. Just go by 2005. Throw out all of his "bad first innings" or walks. As a bullpen guy he can go all out for 1 inning instead of "saving" his stuff as he might have done as a starter. Bottom line. Kerry is gonna be good in the BP.
  3. Ok I see it. It must have been having a malfunction earlier. I am "DaCubs". that's me. Because I see my yahoo id: "teremei". It's someone else who is not in.
  4. I will try to log in again. I actually SIGNED up. My team name has "cub" in it. The problem is I can't get BACK into your league with the bookmark I have saved. I can try logging in from the main page again. . I'll tell you what error messeges I get. .
  5. The Cubs will never be able to fly under the radar. Yeah, I know. I laughed when I wrote it but it would still be nice. I think its annoying that local and national media are constantly telling the Cubs players they can't win. That's where, "cubbie swagger", kicks in.
  6. I interpretted the line "enjoy it while you can" as a reference to the gushing optimism that swells up inside the hearts of all Cubs fans this time of year, thinking "This could actually be the year". And then over the next 6 months all our hopes and dreams are slowly ground into a filmy residue, bitter in taste and foul in odor. This residue taints our souls for the following 3 to 4 months as we wait out the long cold months of winter, until around this time of year when spring training starts and we are once again clean. Woah. Deep man, deep. ::clicks fingers:: 8-)
  7. They're pretty good. thanks for sharing. .
  8. 2006: 29th in OBP, 28th in Runs 2005: 20th in OBP, 20th in Runs 2004: 22nd in OBP, 16th in Runs 2003: 24th in OBP, 20th in Runs Something tells me pitching (namely relying on Wood and Prior) hasn't been the only major problem this team has had over the past four years. Agreed. Relying on Prior and Wood was a big problem but it surely wasn't the only problem the team had the past couple years. You don't finish with the worst record in the NL because you rely on two pitchers and they get hurt. That's right, because if they didn't get hurt, you wouldn't finish anywhere near the bottom.
  9. He's done alright with landing A-Ram and D-Lee for a pile of junk. Sure, he's had his share of bad moves as well, but he has secured four players who are likely all-stars this year (D-Lee, A-Ram, Soriano and Barrett. Yet, as has been pointed out repeatedly, with all the talent, he's still constructed a team that is sub .500 under his watch, despite a top 5 payroll. I'm not saying he's incapable of identifying a talented baseball player, I'm saying he's been horrible at assembling a good baseball team. Look, aside dumb overpaid mediocre players. There is ONE thing that defines our struggles the last few years. RELYING ON WOOD AND PRIOR. Just think about it. JH really hasn't put together a BAD team at all. IF Wood and Prior were who they could have been. This would have been a VERY good team for the last 4 years. But they've been riddled with injuries. It was CONTINUING to rely on wood and prior that was his downfall. How many years did Hendry rely on them before he made the move and improved the starting pitching? 2 years. My main arguement is hendry DID build a good team. It's just the relying on Wood and Prior in 2005, and 2006 that makes it look like he built such a bad team. When he built a very good team that could have been one of the best, but went down as 2 of the most promising picthing prospects failed to deliver. .

  11. I'm having trouble logging on to the league. Tried my bookmarked page after signing into the league and even going into through the main sports page.
  12. Aramis Ramirez is awesome. That is all. .
  13. Can anybody tell me, what the heck are we talking about?
  14. Santo: I'm here with the fine fine manager of the Chicago Cubs, Lou Piniella. . Lou: The season hasn't started yet Ron.
  15. I like that those fans are behind prior watching him pitch. "Prior pitching? Wuuuhh? waa? huh? . . . . YES!!!"
  16. I would take it to mean they're very close to a 1-yr deal for the purposes of avoiding the arbitration hearing, which will allow them to work on the long-term deal during spring training. I think it just means they need to add 15% more money.
  17. What? When did this happen? Can I borrow your time machine please? 8-)
  18. How long do live drafts last and how does it generally work? Certain players are in round one 'pool', and then you go from there?
  19. Yeah, Izturis hasn't showed up yet. He's probably got achey bones like I do. .
  20. Some people will tell you it's a new manager that will do that. Others will tell you it's just your imagination. However, I think it's a combo of a new manager, and the players realizing all of the talent they have on this team this year. Basically. . . It is THE YEAR OF THE CUUUUUUBS. .
  21. Huh? but if history has anything to say about it. . . with seattle it almost happened but never happened. And then with Tampa Bay (results were not good). I think I'll wait and let time prove him right (hopefully) or me wrong. That's about as good as I could clear it up, sorry. .
  22. Unfortuntatly is doesn't work for me until after about 1:00 p.m. But I don't care, I'm just glad to be in it. I see ya got it at 11:00 a.m. now. Can ya push it back a bit? Even an hour would help immensily. BTW, what should a newbie reading getting ready for his/her first live draft? About how it works, what to expect, ect. .
  23. Marquis picture is OLD'Dzorz!
  24. Hopefully when Lou says "best possible line-up" he means things like, Theroit at 2B, Derosa in RF against Lefties. Because Dusty would spout "best chance to win" and would have Pagan in LF, Bynum at 2B, and Neifi at short.
  25. I have been pleasantly surprised. I haven't been pleasantly suprised. That's because I don't always assume the worst. ::pats self on the back::. 8-) You're so awesome. :P
