  1. Wouldn't it be nice to see another good start, and more consistant offense for the win today? Yep it would. Go cubbies.
  2. To be honest, Z's not going to be winning popularity contests anywhere. 3 ER in 7 IP - he should shut up. Am I mistaken or is Z a CUB?
  3. We are 2-2 When I don't do anything special for the game.
  4. Man, I've said this before but. I LOVE watching Rich Hill pitch. He has so much confidence. It's almost like he pitches like there isn't even a batter in the box. "Here Barret, here's a strike. . " . . . . . "Here's another one". . . . "that one missed, dammit".
  5. Ofcourse there were no walks. RIIIICH HIIIIILLLL was pitching.
  6. Just so you know, that game is 6pm CT / 7pm ET ... so it will be getting underway in half an hour or so. He'll be pitching against the Brevard County Manatees -- the Brewers' FSL team. Thanks! I'll get to listen to the first hour atleast.
  7. Is anybody torn by the fact that Smardzija will be pitching tonite at 7:00 p.m. for datona? It will be avaiable via audio also.
  8. I think if Mcdunnough is gonna force players to wear the standard white jerseys. He should also force all players to wear their pants legs high exposing the blue leggings just like soriano does. Now i LOVE that look. I wouldn't miss the blue's so much if the homes could be worn the way they should be worn. That's probably one of the reasons I hate the pinstripes. Not enough blue in it. There IS enough blue, but the players hide it by having their pants all the way down to their shoes. It's ugly. If anybody wants to criticize uniforms. It should be how the home uni's look when the players don't wear it right.
  9. Speaking of hitting. Derosa has looked pretty good behind the plate so far. If he can solidify 2B with good defense and hitting, he will look like a very good pickup.
  10. Maybe it's because he and izturis are the only ones hitting behind lee and ram to drive them in? barret and jones have done pretty much, nothing so far. Well the reverse of that is that Soriano and Jones aren't hitting, so Lee and A-Ram have no one to drive in. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Either way. Everybody INFRONT of and BEHIND lee and ram need to start hitting. I think we can all agree on that.
  11. With no wind coming in from the outside, 40,000 people, and the sun to provide from warmth. It will probably be far from cold.

  13. Oh my GOD! Soriano is sucking the first 3 games of the season at the lead-off spot!! Let's put him in #5 where carreer wise he has WORSE numbers!!
  14. i'm not okay at stunting the growth of a cheap, young outfielder that we should be counting on being a mainstay in the lineup for the next 10+ years. never mention that he had the top OBP on the team last season. lou is beginning to disappoint me already. bruce, next time you talk to him, tell him that i say he's being dumb. I agree with Sully here a little bit. I want to see Murton play. But since it's only the first few games. Their share of games really can't be predicted throughout the whole season. You can't figure, well floyd 2, murton 2. Murton will only get 300 AB. Give it some time and let's see who starts more. Remember Lou did say earlier that he'd want to use floyd sparingly early and save him for a late run. He might be playing matchups or just seeing if floyd can handle the position. Or maybe he feels we really need a win here and to put as much offense on the line-up as possible.
  15. Yet Izturis would be a contributor for your team on week 1. Unfortunately, you wouldn't beable to drop him.
  16. Not so much a bad call. He was great in spring and showed improvement. I'm sure Lou will pound into him not to be so aggresive with 2 balls. If he is to get better, he needs to be in those game situations and learn from them. it was a bad call. his decision to replace murton with theriot was a bad call, too. Any body can second guess something when it doesn't work. I would've preferred to see Lou stick with Murton the whole way. Theriot's speed can be useful late in games, but his OF defense isn't too pretty and both DeRosa and Izturis have been hot at the plate. I realy wasn't paying too much attention at that point. But I think Lou should have stuck with Marquis for the 7th. I don't know what the match-ups were. But it was obvious Marquis was dealing, and would probably have breezed through the inning. I guess lou did make a couple of mistakes. But the biggest errors were on part of the players. In the 7th, Soriano got picked off, theroit got tagged out on the basepaths during a hit by lee. If neither of those 2 things happened the cubs would have scored 1, and could have likely scored 2 or 3. There would have been 1 out with a man on 2nd and 1 run in.

  18. Do any of you plan on using stat tracker? It's pretty good I like it.
  19. yeah, you could. but you'd also be screwed on k's, and if just 1 of your relievers had a bad outing, your era and whip is pretty much screwed. I see, thanks that helps. Yeah I've been picking up a few good SP and RP what have good career ERA's, WHIP's, and K's. And dropping a few that don't contribute much to those stats (Marquis). I'm already below average on K's. My only hope is that Matsuzaka continues to dominate, and a few of the guys I picked up contribute as well. I really didn't know all of this when I drafted. So I didn't pick up some of the stellar closers (SV's + K's) like some of you did. But I'm pretty happy with who I've been able to pick up. The most fun thing right now is the match up I'm having. I'm leading in ERA but I have 3 more SP than can probaly contribute to me picking up the point in W's. But at the same time, if one of them has a bad outing I can loose my ERA point at the same time. :D
  20. I'd rather they ATLEAST divide the 10 runs between the three games. I honestly don't beleive Hill needs 10 runs. Save some for Miller!
  21. It just seems to add up to horible timing. We seem to have horrible freaking timing, doesn't it seem that way? One game we'll put up 9 runs on the board as the starter gives up only 2. Another game the starter will have a shutout, but we can't even score one run. This inconsistancy needs to stop. And I pray Lou can help with that.
  22. Celebrating a resurrected Jesus is even more enjoyable when the Cubs don't suck. Amen to that brother :)
  23. Do IP count? As far as I can tell, when it computes ERA and WHIP it actually doesn't count IP. So you could have 5 REALLY good RP and record an incredible WHIP and ERA (possibly SV's) and forsake W's. Is this the case? Please someone let me know.
