  1. So? Everybody's arguing with you that Marquis has been the better pitcher and it matters SO much to you that in your mind "Zambrano has been better"? BTW, you can argue all you want about hits, walks, and runs are not important. However, Walks ARE in the pitchers own hands, and Zambrano has walked way more batters than Marquis has. In fact, without those, he might have actually won his third game. And we wouldn't even be having this arguement.
  2. Well, not so much "mental toughness". But alot of his problems are deffinatly mental. Compare him to a guy like Greg Maddux, who does not have near the "stuff" of Carlos. Maddux is a very smart pitcher. I have to assume Zambrano is not. Maddux is very calm and follows his game plan. Zambrano when something, even a minor setback, before the game gets out of hand. He looses it mentally. Not so much "looses it", but he does not do the right things and let's his emmotions ruin his game. He needs to take a step back, slow his game down. Take a few breaths, and concentrate only on the next pitch. This is one of his big downfalls. And it can certainly be considered something like "mental instability" on the mound.
  3. No, you should beable to do it. 10 pm is not too late. Midnight Central right? I'm in no hurry to talk about the cubs. Can we all agree to wait for Cali to post the next thread? Get the team to agree to it by winning. :) Will do sir! Unfortunately they will loose their next 4 games after that.
  4. WHAT!? You've been selective on the stats you chose to make your point. I'm no stat nut but did you listen to that one episode on WGN radio where Kap was talking about K BB/9+HR? As Walks, K's, and HRs are the ONLY thing that a pitcher is directly accountable for. You can argue that Zambrano has been "better". However he has not been as "effective" as Marquis. Marquis has him beat in just about every stat, the ones he doesn't, you choose to state your case. But it doesn't even really friggen matter. From what I can see is Z has had 1 quality start out of 3. Marquis has 1 of 2. Which is a higher percentage rate than "Big Z". Z has been flat out terrible so far. And if Marquis has a quality start tommorow, he'll be 2 of 3 to Z's 1 of 3. I really couldn't care less if Z has K'd more, allowed less HR, or has had better "stuff". I want my pitchers to go 6-7 innings and give up 3 runs or less.
  5. Atleast the Cubs bats will be in focus. As most of them stood on their shoulders.

  7. quick surprise snap questions don't work on forums. Only a few moments to research, and we've got the answer for you.
  8. Won't be watching. Our pitching is stellar. STELLAR. And our Offense is doing it's usual bad timing flip flopping. Scoring runs when not needed, not scoring ANY when very few are needed. Unfortunately, when the offense picks up, the pitching will start sucking. It's just the fate of the cubs.
  9. unacceptable. 7-0 win followed by a 0-1 loss. Pathetic.
  10. Ditto, but I've also had the torn labrum and surgery to repair. I shall never bash Kerry for what he's going through. I can feel that pain -- didn't have surgery, though. Just had a cortisone shot, which reduced the inflammation enough to allow it to heal. I can finally really exercise with it. Let me tell ya, lifting with my shoulder hurts like hell, but I need to strengthen it up. I had a cortisone shot too. But now it's flared up again. God I feel old.
  11. Then I guess my argument would be that Wuertz should get as many appearances as Bob Howry. Wuertz Howry Followed by ======== Eyre Guzman Cherry This should be the order of regularity.
  12. It might be that Lou only remembers to spell it "Wuertz" every few attempts, and so he can't call the non-existant "Weurtz" out of the bullpen on the other days. Keyboard slip. Care to respond to the statement, smart guy?
  13. What is it about Weurtz with Dusty (and so far, Piniella) that you hardly ever see him get an appearance? Is it that you can make it his name to say "WEURTZLESS"? My only positive guess would be he's some sort of secret weapon, only to be used when we truely need him. But he needs to be in ballgames more.
  14. I agree booing Soriano now, and Jones and Lee then aren't the same thing as booing the team if they are doing badly. That's when I think it is ok to boo. But it doesn't mean they are trying to say we don't want you here. They are just too dumb to realize it doesn't help. Soriano, just like Jones and Lee before him. Is probably just trying to "fit in" and perform well for the cubs fans. He wants to contribute in a big way and feel a part of our family. He will bust out one day, and we'll all start saying things like "SORIOWNED!!" and "ALPHY!!!"
  15. I've heard Harry and Stone. I'm 30 now. And I can tell you, me becoming a diehard cubs fan has as much to do with the magic of listening to Harry Carrey and Steve Stone as it did with the few speckled games my dad brought me to. "Hello again everybody, this is Harry Carrey and welcome to baseball on WGN. It's a wonderful day for baseball". . Or somethin like that.
  16. That is actually Pat simulating the sound himself. Yeah, cause he's so good. He can even do it SIMULTANIOUSLY talk while doing the sound effects too!!
  17. Well seeing as we have enough offense for the next 5 years and not enough pitching. I think most would side with keeping the great pitching.
  18. I cannot wait to see him pitch again. But I've been saying that for awhile. Look what he did today without his best stuff. Wow. I'm gonna have to change my prediction for Rich Hill. I think he'll have an ERA under 3.00. The only way he won't is if he looses it mentally and goes back to being scared to pitch. I don't think that's very likely.
  19. Nope. The dude playing with his nipples was much more interesting. I've also noticed that... i wonder why its a bit more closed now?.. What, his nipples? :)
  20. Aye! That fat bastard got a walk ya nilly!! And scored a run, ok hai! http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/7/73/Fat_bastard.jpeg
  21. Len even had fun with it. "You've got a small. . . . . . . snake?"
  22. Sounds like good conditions for a Rich Hill win. . . Then again any game condition against any batter sounds like good conditions for a Rich Hill win.
  23. I'll bet they find nothing that calls for surgery. But, whether he gets the knife or not, do you really want another year of this soap opera??? If by soap opera you mean choosing between having unhealthy Prior and losing him after this season or taking a chance that he can get healthy and be under control next year, then yes. I definitely want another year of the soap opera. It's only a soap opera if we make it so. I'm not paying any attention to Prior this year, personally. So it's no really a soap opera at all, really.
  24. I guess some of us are just built different, and our genes are not the "luckiest" in the earth. I can relate to Kerry. I've had shoulder tendinitis in BOTH my shoulders for the last 3 months. They crack, they flare up for days at a time, and I couldn't imagine ever being able to pitch on them.
