I'd rather trade for a decent starting pitcher and a good bat. JMO, the cheap cost controlled pitcher is way more likely to happen in the offseason than during the season. Gonzalez, Garza, Shields...some of the recent pre-FA starters traded were all offseason moves. For the deadline I want a bat, Hamels, and Chapman. Would take all three...Daniel Murphy of the Mets? I hear he's on the way out this deadline. Yeah, but I want them to play for the postseason this year. There's no reason for them to not gun for a WC spot, and waiting for a starting pitcher isn't going to help that. If I had to pick I'd definitely prefer the bat, but they've got assets up the whazoo. Time to start actually using some of them for trades like they've repeatedly assured us they would do.
