  1. It's like you have absolutely no idea how the playoffs actually work.
  2. I won't be a hard ass... I will allow it. Done and done. Thanks!
  3. The dropoff from Rizzo and Bryant to the rest of the lineup makes me want to barf.
  4. Where's David been? Someone might have to go save him from the ugnaughts.
  5. The Cubs have not donged in the previous 5 games. Please dong, someone.
  6. Can't be certain because until this year I obviously have never watched him hit on a nearly daily basis, but I've speculated he might be nursing some sort of minor hand/wrist injury that's affecting him for some time now. He is taking awkward swings and his bottom hand seems to come off the bat a lot, which is weird. But he's a long/big dude so it could just be a prolonged struggle and he might just look extra awkward when he's off. He's walking a lot less, too. I was really hoping the Cubs were getting a guy who kept on getting on base at a good clip.
  7. Man, Fowler has kinda sucked in both May and June.
  8. I'm convinced he'd wear his jersey if they let him.
  9. Except the Blackhawks were bad for awhile and went 40 years without winning anything. Man, I can't stand hockey and even I think this a completely dumb and nonsensical thing to say.
  10. In 3 of the last 4 seasons the Cubs went to the playoffs the Cardinals didn't finish better than 3rd, so it's not like the Cardinals and Cubs have a recent rivalry in terms of the Cardinals ruining the Cubs chances to do anything significant. When the Cubs are consistently good they'll be able to beat the Cardinals consistently again, so it's really not any kind of specific "hump" for them to overcome.
  11. this is the most incredible thing that has ever happened At least there was a small bit of good out of tonight.

  13. Given that we know the playoffs come down to luck more than anything, that doesn't help. Our history with luck is pretty terrible. That Will Ferrell spoofish Lifetime movie is on. We've made the playoffs 6 times in the last 70 years, so its not like we've had a ton of chances to succeed in the playoffs. Good try, but don't bother. It's GameThreadTown.
  14. Explains about 90% of the game thread regulars here.
  15. it's baseball, all it takes is one good week in october Plus he's griping like that when the Pirates are also ahead of the Cubs, so I have no idea why he's acting like the only thing standing be tween the Cubs and FO-delivered salvation are the Cardinals.
  16. almost 2 hour delay on a Sunday night after a delay to start the game? Yeah? If was a Cubs/Cardinals game at Wrigley you'd see the same. Same if it was Yankees and Red Sox or Dodgers and Giants and the like.
  17. bring on the sweet release of the tank. pixie dust is as real as you and me. So if the Cubs keep trending in the right direction and end up firing on all cylinders when it comes to player development, is that going to be pixie dust, too?
  18. WOW, PEOPLE STAYED TO WATCH A BIG RIVALRY BASEBALL GAME THEY PAID FOR, AMAZING.
  19. Wasn't he always projected to strike out a lot?
  20. we get it, he sucks and he got a single Sorry, his sample size of 6 games this season is how he's destined to be going forward. Y'know, pixie dust and Cardinal luck and all of those other hilarious things people can't shut the [expletive] up about.
