I kind of doubt they'll add anything more than a bench type. Castro's been awful, but I'm assuming they'll give him time to turn it around until Baez returns. Schwarber will be up on August to play some LF. No room for a big addition unless someone gets hurt. I don't really see them taking Castro, Fowler, or Soler out of the lineup. I'd much rather they make a move to get a solid bat for LF. Coghlan's been good, but go for someone who isn't a platoon player and can provided more everyday value and impact. Combine that with Soler coming back and now the bench is upgraded with Coghlan and Denorfria available off of it more often. If they really are determined to have Schwarber stick at catcher I'd rather just keep him down and focused on playing at that spot than sidetracking him with a stint in LF. A Coghlan/Denorfia platoon is pretty good. Finding someone clearly better than that would be a) difficult and b) really expensive. I dunno, I think we're kind of "stuck" with what we have, offensively. Hope Castro, Soler, and Fowler turn it around. I don't think it would be that difficult; the Cub have a lot of assets and there's a decent selection of players likely to be available. I'm optimistic about Soler stepping it up, but Castro has shown little ability or willingness to make serious adjustments midseason. Fowler's ultimately fine for what he is and his optimum performance isn't that far off from what he's been doing. I'd want them to go out and get someone for LF who would be here this year and ideally going forward instead of just hoping for the best from a platoon.
