Their crafty strategy: It was simply an elaborate conspiracy theory to trick Pace into wasting mid-round picks. Trubisky isn't even a real dude. So many teams involved, this plot goes deep. I hear that Paul DePodesta was played by Jonah Hill but he had to use a different name, legally, because Paul DePodesta was too hard for John Lynch to say. Even though they tried replacing Lynch with the giant face of Channing Tatum, but Lynch said no way because he does all his own stunts. So they put a clause in his contract that states if he horsefeathers up the sting then he has to kill himself by shooting himself in the chest so he can donate his brain to CTE study. Whut.

If Trubisky is a pro bowl QB and Pace identified him as such and someone else was going to leapfrog the Bears to grab him, of course it makes the move a stroke of genius you horsefeathering pecker. nobody was going to leapfrog them. that point is obvious. in any competitive negotiation the bears had the biggest chip out there in the 3 spot. SF was always going to be more comfortable moving down 1 spot to 3 than trading down several spots to get even lower. And Trubisky would have been there at 3. Their crafty strategy:
